Those Apple Store bastards won't exchange a sealed Apple Watch without a receipt (from the Apple Store, online or offline). So I just opened it. Maybe at some point down the road I'll get a 3rd party leather watch band for it. Kind of wish it was the larger size watch now, but you take what you can get for free!

Seems cool, though a little confusing how it works at first. I definitely like the basic functionality of it sending alerts to the watch so you can quickly glance at it and access if it's something you want to address. I thought that was going to be obnoxious, but actually it's the opposite. And of course it's a watch and shows the weather and next calendar event and other stuff on there. Other stuff I haven't used enough to decide how useful it is. At least some of the 3rd party apps I have are pretty iffy.

Having a sedentary job and one where I forget to do this, I like the reminders to stand up for a minute every hour.
Don't forget to add your Cartwheel barcode!

Did anyone else pick up one of these special Star Wars movie tins last night?

I got the one on the top right. Kind of wanted the top left, but I really don't need two giant popcorn tins sitting around. They're pretty cool though. #merchandisingwhore
You score those at the theater? If so, which brand? Because those are awesome and I want one.

A rumor (apparently substantiated) on GAF is that the PS4 version of Rise of the Tomb Raider was supposed to originally release with the PC version and not one year later. However, after the reveal shitstorm Square wanted to announce it was a timed exclusive, and the compromise with Microsoft was that they had to push the PS4 version six months out to December.

What a clusterfuck all around.

Yeah, I got them from the fancy theater nearby, but it looks like its a Regal thing? I didn't know my theater was Regal branded, but okay!

There's literally no reason for me to personally own two large sized popcorn tins, but I'm kinda tempted to go back for the stormtrooper/kylo ren one lol.

That sucks. I guess they are really a different company since Jobs died.

Interesting. I've also heard it was supposed to release in Spring 2016 until Uncharted got delayed to Spring 2016 so they pushed Tomb Raider even further back.

The more the merrier as far as I'm concerned. I love open-world games, and there's always plenty of smaller/more linear games to balance them out with.
Open-world games aren't going anywhere.
I'm just getting a bit tired of open-world games after Mad Max, MGS V, and now both FO4 and JC3. I'm going to take a short break from them (Dark Souls is my current plan) after finishing those two so I don't get completely annoyed with them.

Ugh, another open-world game? I'll probably play it regardless (and I really like the Dead Space series), but still...
I'm not sure Visceral is the one that's going to be doing an open-world game. The job listing mentions that they're working on an action/adventure game. Doesn't say anything about open world. Or RPG really, other than saying it will have skills/progression.

Its a damn shame more people arent getting to play that new Tomb Raider game when its supposed to be really good.  It certainly looks sweet and had it been multi platform released I bet BB would have given us a $10 cert and more of us would be done with it and have traded it back in by now!

Well at least the bucs tried to make it a game and didn't get blown out by 40.
Screw the Yuckaneers! Dougie boy was running good in the first half. I just knew he was going to a least get his projected 15pts. But no, the Yucks had to go and get down big so that took the ball out of Dougie's hands.

I did work out for someone in our playoffs, right Pharm?

That is exactly why like Backlog said you mix in other stuff. I finished JC3 over the weekend. Haven't really played anything since but will likely NOT start up another open world type game next. Maybe find a good guide and work on Until Dawn. I think if I started Mad Max now I would probably get burnt out half way through it.

Just mix in Spelunky or a TellTale game and you will be excited to play an open world game again.
Yeah I'm playing Sound Shapes and Temple of Osiris/Gauntlet with my gf, while playing AC IV when I have plenty of alone time to sit down and play. I normally don't play more than one game at a time but I've found it helps keep things feeling fresh to me.

We really need a definition of indie, btw. It gets thrown around a lot but that article yesterday said Rocket League was created on a $2m budget. Does that really still count?

Yes it worked well for me since Jameis had to throw 50 times and stone hands (he did have some nice catches last night though) Mike Evans was able to catch a bunch and get me a lot of pts even though he didnt score. Also the Bucs run D is pretty good and limited Gurley to less than 3 a carry. He still got 15 pts or so for Harry. Its going to be a close one.

I am glad I dont give a shit about Amiibo and its over merchandising. It doesnt irritate me that people waste their money on dolls.

Not sure where you're going with this unless its supposed to be a cut at me for the other night. If you think I was defending amiibo you must not remember that I sold the ones I had at the time for $600 before reprints started happening and while the gettin' was good and haven't purchased a single one since. It was jkam being wishy washy and hypocritical that grinds my gears. Amiibo are nothing to me except the Shovelknight I want for coop.

But yeah, Star Wars just doesn't click with me, its really boring. So its a bit annoying when its everywhere. Like I said, I wish I cared about it because I'd probably eat up all the branded crap they're pushing.

Feel free to revoke my nerd card: I've never watched a Star Wars movie.

You thought way too far into this. I was just fucking with you and keeping it relevant to the thread by jabbing Tyler and all the Amiibo folks at the same time. Normal thread stuff.

I like Star Wars a lot and want to go see the new movie but I couldnt care less about the merch either because I dont collect things and I am not 6! Woot! But it also doesnt bother me that stuff is "over merchandised".

Yeah, I'm going through them now for the first time, and they are okay movies. I think maybe if I'd been really into them as a kid they would resonate differently, but having finished four of them so far, I'm not all giddy about it. I really just want to know what the hell everyone around me is talking about.

To be fair, its not just the over merchandising alone, it coupled with other things like everyone in every place I go talking about it. And I don't include the thread in that as thats what we're here for, to talk about our nerdy shit and geeky interests. I mean in practically every area outside of this thread in real life.

Don't mind my bitterness. Its been an off week for me.

I'm thinking about jumping in now that I see how great everyone thinks Force Awakens is. As big as Star Wars is I feel like it's something I should experience and at the very least form my own opinion about it.

That doesn't say it's an indie game, just that a lot of good indie games were in Plus.

I know, reading is hard.
Indie games were all the rage on PlayStation Plus this year. Which one was the best?

Best PlayStation Plus Game

(list of games)

For an indie game superfan such as myself, PlayStation Plus in 2015 was an embarrassment of riches.
The article didn't say "First Light was an indie game" outright but you're crazy if you don't think the intent behind the first two sentences was to say the list was of indie games.

I guess I see your point, I looked over that sentence. Anyone that likes games enough to read that article will know what he meant though.

Been playing it on Xbone and it is pretty decent. Nowhere near as good as Uncharted, though.

I've seen them all already, but forgot a lot about the episode 5 and 6 as I was farily young when watching them. Funny thing is episode 4 I remembered in its entirety while rewatching it a week ago. Just rewatched 5 last night and was ready for it to be over so I could sleep about half way through. Was hoping something might spark my interest into it this time around but its not really happening. Kinda hard for any scifi cinematic to really hook me though. I just end up comparing them all to Farscape which I find to be the best scifi space opera ever. Starts off pretty shitty, but by the end of the first season its great and get progressively more incredible with each season. Star Wars just can't hold a candle to that for me.

The interesting thing is that I just heard on NPR that relatively speaking, Disney has spent little on advertising Force Awakens because it doesn't need it. It seems like they've spent a lot recently, but not overall.

Oh, I think he meant the list to be of indie games. Most of the games on the list could be described as such pretty easily, though First Light is the obvious exception and Rocket League is debatable. I did bring up the question of what we define as indie for that reason--I'm not sure how tyler defines that. I think he was probably mistaken to include First Light no matter how he defines indie, but Rocket League may be legit. Psyonix has been around a while and have worked on some very big games (Gears of War, UT 3, ME 3, Xcom: EU) and Rocket League certainly didn't have a small budget, but the company only has ~30 employees so maybe that's the defining factor.

If you didnt grow up with the original trilogy I can see why some of you didnt get into Star Wars.  Episode 1-3 were no where near as ground breaking.  In fact they sucked by comparison because they were just run of the mill action movies (at best) with weird alien characters.

Yeah, that's how I felt. It's definitely one of those pop culture things you should experience once.

Maybe they should hack psn and xboxlive now while everyone is caught up in Star Wars. Just get it out of the way. We can all pretend to be upset and they can feel all powerful and important again and we can all just get back to gaming online.

It is awkwardly phrased, the first part of the sentence is one complete thought and the second part is changing topic slightly, but it isn't obvious since the second part is so sparse. maybe something like:

"Indie games were all the rage on PlayStation Plus this year. but what was the best game out of this year's entire Plus catalog?"

Though since the big title in bold is "Best Playstation Plus Game" and not "Best Indie Playstation Plus Game," then no, you don't have a leg to stand on.

Farscape is on Netflix, added it to my list to check out.

George, you got me worried about that 100 days trophy so I let it run all night.  That was after playing a couple hours before that and with all the time I had already spent in that world.  I was even more worried when it had not popped some time over night.  It did finally unlock about 10am this morning thankfully.

Would you recommend just watching the original trilogy then? Or would I miss out on major plot shit?
