I'm always curious why people pick teams that aren't there hometown teams to follow.  Or if you don't have a home town team.

For instance, since Wisconsin doesn't have an NHL team, I started following and rooting for the Devils because I really liked playing as Scott Stevens and Ken Danyko in the SNES NHL games.  Then Broduer showed up and boom.  I follow the Wild a little closer now just because I'm here in the middle of it, thought it goes against every instinct in my body to root for a Minnesota team.

Got into the Knicks in the early 90s because the Bucks were anonymous and no friends or family really followed them.  But I liked watching Ewing and Starks and Oakley taking on the mighty Jordan & Pippen teams.  I'm obviously full blown Bucks at this point.  Got back on the train when they drafted Big Dog.

Not sure what you mean by the former. It does work with 2DS/3DS chargers. My kid is using it with one.
Me either apparently. I confused the new Vita having a standard micro USB with the new 3ds also having Micro USB charging.

Now that I understand it is still a proprietary connector it is even dumber then I initially thought. If (not likely) I were to upgrade I would probably trade my old one in with charger to get as much value as possible on my trade in. Consider I have had my 2DS for 10 months and just played my first game start to finish I doubt I would ever upgrade unless it was for like $10 or less out of pocket.

I think kindles at least come with the cord unless they changed it in the last 2 years or so. No power brick though. Never really had anyone complain about it when I worked at bby.

It would have been much better if nintendo at least added the cord and let you use an existing power brick.
I bought one like 3 or 4 years ago. I can't recall if it came with a USB cable or not to be honest. No brick though. Not a big deal as I had an Android phone which was micro USB at time.

Yeah I was traveling a couple days this week from NY to Florida on business. Would have been nice not to have to pack the stupid Nintendo charger. My Droid Turbo charger will charge my OLED vita.

I get that when you dont have a hometown team you follow some team where you like a player or something. But your really rooting for the player and not the team. Once those players leave why still follow that team?

Also, growing up I followed Notre Dame cause they were good , had history and were on TV. But as I grew up I stopped caring and even disliking them cause, why the fuck would I care about a team that I have no ties too? I dont get why people grow up and still follow childhood teams that arent their home town team or have any ties to them.

I know a guy who grew up in Florida. He is a redneck, but follows and lives and dies by the Red Sox. What the fuck!? They already have a billion obnoxious fans, big market teams dont need more people that have no ties to them to cheer for them. Its annoying.

It must be fun to just pick and chose any team to root for. Though rooting for the Astros is pretty dumb since they suck. Did you chose them cause they were good for a few years with the killer Bs?
Yeah I just went with my favorite players from when I was a little kid and started following those teams.

Jeff Bagwell (he looked cool and had a sweet batting stance)

Reggie Miller (I was always a long distance shooter playing basketball growing up, so of course he was my favorite)

Dan Marino (Not even sure really. Pretty sure I just like actual dolphins and had some dolphins stuffed animals and liked the Miami Dolphins colors)

Mario Lemieux. (Just because of his name Mario from Nintendo)

And just because I pick and choose doesn't mean I'm a bandwagon fan. Dolphins/Pacers/Astros have a combined 2 Finals appearances and 0 championships since I've been alive. Penguins have had a bit of recent success but have still underachieved based on how stacked some of their teams have been.

You would be pretty correct.

Cubs were division rivals for the Astros for a long time.

Lucky ass White Sox beat the Astros in their only World Series appearance.

Bulls took down the Jazz twice in the finals and Pacers a lot too.

It's all kind of just started rolling from there. I'm pretty sure my distaste for the Blackhawks just stems from not liking any of the other teams from Chicago. The Bears I don't have anything specific against except they're boring drab colors, but I'll rarely root for them. I've come around a bit on the Bulls for whatever reason. But yeah, don't like the Blackhawks, Cubs, or White Sox at all.
I'm not huge on Hockey so I kind of defaulted to the Blackhawks. Apparently they also sponsor (or something) the Indy team which is kinda cool. And I don't care either way on the cubs/white sox thing, not a baseball fan. Tend to lean Braves for that if pressed though, I went to a bunch of the games as a kid.

Always kinda interesting seeing where other peoples sports loyalties lie.

Were you a Knicks fan around 95-96?

I started following the Hawks during the Dominique Wilkins era the same reason you followed Notre Dame. There always played Hawks games on TBS (back when they only showed Atlanta teams) and I loved watching Nique. Then he got traded and I mainly stopped paying attention to them.

Less than 4 hours to the draft!  All kinds of rumors flying now that even the Bucs may trade their pick.  I dont believe any of it.  Unless someone offers their entire draft ala Ricky Williams and the dummy Mike Ditka Saints.

I never had any luck at all using a 3rd party charger or portable battery to charge my OLED Vita, and I tried a variety of them. That's one of the reasons I wanted to upgrade to the new Vita and it doesn't disappoint. Works great with my portable battery and everything else.

Yeah. Stayed with them through their finals appearance against the Spurs in the lockout shortened season. 2000 I think? Then Dolan & Isaiah Thomas destroyed them and I stumbled fully on the Bucks.

I was actually in NYC during their finals appearance in 95 against the Rockets. Saw Anthony Mason walk out of MSG right before I went on a tour of it with my dad, then saw Vernon Maxwell warming up on the court. Actually snuck on the court and had my dad take my picture standing next to the Finals logo on the court. Tried to convince him to scalp tickets for the game but he wouldn't go for it.

The late 90's Heat Knicks rivalry was so intense. Do you remember the game where PJ Brown tackled the Knicks player and a brawl broke out (Game 5 of the 97 Eastern Conference Semifinals)? Even the regular season games were really chippy.

I think people in Miami hated the late 90's Knicks more than they hated the Buffalo Bills. It was surreal how loud the fans would boo the Knicks.

So here's Scott Weiland and his new band performing the STP classic 'Vasoline'.

Well the band performs it. Not sure what the hell Weiland was doing. Pretty sad.
fucking yikes. I saw him with STP maybe two years ago (?) and he sounded great. He must be back doing some of those heavy drugs. Not to imply he ever stopped doing heavy drugs,.. he's just doing more than usual I'm guessing.

Coincidentally I'm seeing STP with Chester Bennington in a few weeks at some festival-ish type show. Not sure if I'm excited for that or not. I love STP and enjoy a lot of Linkin Park's music, but it is a weird mix to me. Didn't really dig the new music I heard with him so far. I watched a video of him doing singing some classic STP and it sounded like he was trying to do a Weiland impression.

Yeah those games were crazy, especially the playoff ones. The Knicks had all that bad blood for Riley and didn't try to hide it one bit. The best of course is when Jeff Van Gundy grabbed onto Alonzo Mournings leg during one of the many fights.

This article is actually really cool and shows the best 90s playoff moments.

I actually really enjoyed that STP EP with Chester. Didn't think I'd like it at all but I thought it was quite good. Really interested what they do with a full album together.

Yeah okay, no one saw that coming this year and its still early. Baseball has a dreadfully LOOOOONG season.
McHugh and Keuchel were excellent last season, and their skills suggested it wasn't a fluke. Valbuena was an upgrade over what they've had recently (same with Lowrie), Castro and Conger are both good pitch framers and are at least acceptable with the bat, Altuve is a stud, and Springer is also at least solid.

Most projection systems had them winning near 80 games.

Holy Hell. He looks awful...and sounds even worse. What a shame.

I saw Weiland STP with RHCP and STP blew them away....although I've heard RHCP are either hit or miss most of the time. It came down to Kiedis not hitting a note all friggin night.

I like the Chester STP EP as well. I think that kid, Linkin Park, in general get a lot of misplaced hate for some reason. I mean LP isn't always great but they have had some decent stuff throughout the years. Chester can sing but it seems like ya either love em or hate him.

As much as I hate to say it STP would be smart not to look back again...unless by some miracle Weiland cleans up.

This isn't even the worst tragedy this year though Daniel Johns's solo album is. So bad. Reminds me of the time Chris Cornell tried to do a pop album.

Silverchair died for me after Neon Ballroom. I was blown away by that whole album, and was excited for what they did next. Then I bought Diorama and I thought it was a huge turd.

Finally went through this week's PSN sales list and narrowed my "might buy" list to:

Mamorukun Curse!
Raiden IV: Overkill
Strikers 1945
Trinity: Souls of Zill O'll

Why no RPG's and Star Wars?  Because I don't know if any of them (outside of The Force Unleashed) are good. I know I heard of Dark Forces, but I don't recall if it was because it was really good or awful.

Thoughts?    Urge to stream a game from the list you think I should buy?

Diorama is a modern masterpiece. Seriously. It takes quite awhile for it to sink in but it's a really fuck ing amazing album. In my top 5 for sure. Neon Ballroom was incredible as well. He went off a bit with Young Modern. I'm also a fan of the more out there Disscioatives album he did but that solo album...my god awful.

We've had this Carvel conversation before. I have never heard of it either besides on TV and stuff. Dont they make a cake called Fudgie the Whale or something?

Here's my mini reviews of 3 of the April Plus games that I was talking about earlier.

http://invertedaccess.com/2015/04/30/mini-reviews-aprils-ps-indies/

There's not a ton of content in the reviews that I didn't already mention here, but check it out if you'd still like. I didn't score them in the review, but I would have gone 9/7/5 for Aaru, Tower of Guns, and Never Alone, respectively.
