Many TVs the USB port is turned off when the TV is. At least 2 of my TVs does this. I ended plugging the included USB cable into a USB port on my cable box at my old place. It was powered all the time. The Chromecast boots up pretty quick I assume the Roku stick does as well but I have the Roku 3.

I just signed up for the 7-day trial of SlingTV (just basic set of channels, though I guess since it's a trial I should have gotten everything. Oh well). If I like it I'll cancel after 6 days and do the 3 months deal + free Roku Stick.

Also, I probably shouldn't be watching TV at work. The desktop app works well, but the iOS app currently is super flakey/broken. I hope they fix that soon.

I am up to Chapter 18 in Uncharted GA now. Just an average Uncharted game but I hadnt played one in a while. Glad to see Drake still has some good one liners and quips while you explore.

Did you want to try that near update thing and see if any trophies pop? I need I think 2 that can be gotten this way. I will be home in a few hours if you wanted to see what happens.

Stays on as long as you don't connect it to a USB port that you turn off. Or use the power adapter it comes with.

For 90 seconds it is no big deal.

The roku stick stays off if you power it through the power adapter plugged into walk outlet. If powered through tv usb port only powers on with tv. Takes 1:30 to boot up all the way.

If i didnt have a roku 2 I would do the deal for the stick.

Love these rewind/fastforward/pause buttons that the channels I tried don't let me use. That sucks. Still, it is kind of cool. Stream quality seems excellent so far.

i actually like when those sticks and things shut off. the amazon stick didnt do that obviously because it was plugged in. when i would watch it falling asleep on netflix it would not go into sleep mode so it would run all night and get hung up in netflix. i like my chromecast because it shuts off when my sleep timer on my tv shuts off the tv.

Actually I have a friend who is a Duke fan, obviously since he went there, and there was a writing workshop for kids that we sent one of our kids to there last summer and it was pretty awesome and he had a great time. The campus there is really nice. So I guess I don't hate Duke. Maybe there's a good reason to hate them and I'm not aware of it.

There was a better guide I linked to last week. I think basically fire up the game. Go to black market, then go to update or whatever it will launch near. Click on the update button in near. Wait for it to go through it's gyrations. If it finds a gift thing you tap on it to accept. Go back to the black market in uncharted and it will download/update.

I think you can only update once every 3 hours though.
