So apparently I just realized that I have a PSN account that qualifies for that first settlement.  Think I had bought a PS3 with my tax refund then returned it after like two weeks realizing I couldn't justify it.  Hope that's still open to file a claim.

Edit- It is.  What terrible, terrible options though.  Forgot how bad it was.  And you can't get the PS+ option if you're already PS+? That makes sense.

Trying to get into Arkham Origins and I am having a rough time.  Not sure if it's that I'm not feeling the formula or the execution on this one.  Maybe it's that I'm actively trying for trophies for a change.

 
Damn. There are a lot of choices you make in the Black Ops 2 campaign that change something later that you probably won't even know you made unless you look it up. Maybe I'm just used to playing games with a black and white "Press X to do good thing or Press O to do bad thing" kind of deal.

I haven’t been a member of this thread for all that long, but as I understand it, it’s Tyler’s thread. The guy who helped create Inverted Access, along with the help of several people from this thread. The off-topic thread where we can discuss anything that doesn’t break the rules of the site, and nobody gets ugly about it. So to see someone try to limit what we can discuss in the thread is kinda ugly.

If you bring moderation into this thread, you limit the topics of discussion for everyone, even the five terrific people who likes your extremely wrongheaded post. We all lose that privilege because someone got pissy and/or jealous. Ugly.

I just read a massive post in which not only did the writer insult someone else's writing, but they spelled their username wrong throughout the whole thing.

I don’t know all the details of the dispute that you are making public. But I saw Beekeeper’s news articles and reviews that made it up onto Inverted Access before they let him go. I am a certified high school English teacher, and I can tell you that writing level was below high school level.

Any website that wanted people to read and return to it would be stupid to allow that level of writing to be displayed on their site. Any website that wanted to negotiate review copies from game developers and publishers would be especially stupid to post sub-high school-level content that site.

It doesn’t matter if they require someone to proofread his stuff before posting. Every single sentence in every article I read by him needed a rewrite. When the editor has to rewrite the whole thing, there is just no point in using that writer’s contribution. The review becomes the editor’s, not the guy who didn’t pay attention in English class.

Yeah, Inverted Access made the mistake of allowing Beekeeper to write for their site in the first place without vetting it, without making sure it reached a certain level of quality. But they have every right to decide they want a measure of quality at any point, even after they posted that awful writing.

I knew that they were letting Beekeeper go, but I have no inside information about how that conversation or anything thereafter went. I can see that he told a friend who went on to make a disruptive post in this thread, regardless of the quality of Beekeeper’s writing. I would not place blame on Beekeeper for your post, had he not liked it.

See, Beekeeper’s writing is extremely bad. I’m sure that Inverted Access tried to let him down gently. But the thing is, Beekeeper apparently doesn’t know that his writing is the problem. If he and you team up on a post like yours, it shows that you two are placing the blame on the guys who want nothing more than to create a quality gaming website.

Me, if I tried to write a novel out of the blue, it would be terrible and I could see that. But if someone didn’t understand the basics of writing, how to construct a sentence and paragraph, how to write a coherent story, then that person might not realize his own problems and limitations. He might place the blame on someone other than himself for those limitations, and that’s not right.

It’s mean to point out that someone’s writing is not good, and I hate to do it publicly. But instead of trying to hurt this thread and the ability of everyone in it to discuss whatever they like, you two should be focusing on how you can improve Beekeeper’s writing. No sane website would take on a writer at that level, so the answer is to study and improve the writing level. And keep discussions like this private instead of dragging everyone else into it.

So after another hour or two of AO I think I'm going to set it aside for now and knock out a couple more adapted cheapies.  Then see if I want to go back to it or give something else like Kingdom Hearts a go and try to finish AO next month.

Yeah I got this game for like $8 a while ago but didn't get too far with it either. Sold it to BB for about the same. Considered grabbing it again with the sale but passed.

Yeah, the vita is terrible about giving me my messages. I got the message the next morning. Today is my last day of work. We'll definitely get some epic runs going soon.
 
Did you guys play the other Batman games recently? Maybe you're just burnt out on Batman. I like AO's single player. Except for collectibles and challenge rooms, of course.

I'm not saying TLH is bad (I still have International in my backlog and I swear I'm going to play it someday), just that it's impressive that there's a guy who's willing to take Star Ocean seriously after all the dumb other-JRPG decisions Square-Enix has made over the years.

I'd also play the crap out of the older games if they came to Vita. :drool:

For some reason, when I check your Axiom Verge trophies, PSNP gives me a link to report you for cheating. It's on the right side, under where it lists your first trophy and platinum time. This is the only game I see doing that. And it's like that for everyone who has the plat that I've checked. I wonder why they have it like that for just this game.

That's very strange. I know that you can use the Passcode Tool that's in the game to enable in-game cheats (which I never did), but doing so triggers a prompt saying that earning trophies will be disabled. So I have no clue why PSNP has that set up just for AV.

Nah it has been months since I played a Batman game before tried Origins. Looking at psnprofiles I didn't even get a single trophy it seems. Really didn't like that game I guess. I had extremely low expectation with that game and wasn't even going to play it but when it was like $8 at a store I could go to during my lunch break at work. Plus it was trading at BB for a few bucks more.

 
I think I am done with trying hunt own some trophies in GTA V.  Wasn't sure I would even get through the campaign till I started playing it.  But ended up wanting to see where the story went.  I had more fun with it then I was expecting.  Glad I didn't buy it for $60 though.

I was trying to collect the 30 nuclear waste containers on the bottom of the ocean floor.  I got 25 and can't seem to figure out where the last 5 are.  I keep getting beached then I have to down myself and start the whole process over.  While working on that trophy there are two others I guess it can help you get.

One of which is to get eaten by a shark.  My last attempt I ran from a shark instead of taking the easy trophy.

I have read the same thing about the newer DS4 controllers being better. Both of my originals (launch) DS4s were sticking and one had a slightly ripped analog stick. I traded the worst of the two controllers and my PS4 about a month ago when GS was giving $348 in credit. Rebought a new PS4 with a year of PSN for $399. I did have to join their unlocked club for $15 though.

Anyway even with $66 or so out of pocket I am glad I did the deal. I considered recouping $15 of that by canceling GS PUR Pro but didn't. And PSN would have cost $40 or more anyway.

Cleaned the old controller like someone here linked to (Vig I think). Helped for a while but the L1 is still sticking at times on the old controller might clean it again.

A few weeks ago I remember when someone asked a question. I think it was what is on sale this week. Which was met with read all about it IA and included a link. I thought it was douchie but well that is a frequent theme here. I thought about just posting the sale info here but didn't.

I am all for these guys trying to do something they love but lets not go over board with the self promotion either.

 
Yeah, that was me. One of mine started sticking again too. I cleaned it again it's fine again, but I haven't done the part with using compressed air on the slots that the posts go into on the button itself. Maybe doing that will get any remaining gunk out that causes this problem. I am going to try that next time.

For all its somewhat convoluted-ness, Type-0's plot is still far better than those in the two Tales of Xillias (at the very least, there isn't a single cadet I hate vs. the 1-2 party members I hated in the Xillias), but I suppose the ending could change that. Here's hoping it doesn't.

Yeah I need to find some compress air and give it a shot with that. Maybe I will bring it to work tomorrow and used their compressed air gun.

 
I don't have any real skin in this whole IA debate but when this thread was basically the reason the site even got founded in the first place it seems pretty douchey to just cut someone out. His writing was not the best but could have been worked on. And hey, when it first started Tyler was encouraging anyone to join and write, maybe should have been a little more strict in qualifying people?

it would be totally different if they were say streaming live content that wasn't appropriate for this site tho. ahem. but i don't advertise my stuff. i talk about it and say check it out, but im not pandering for tips. even pitfall the millionaire i don't beg for tips when he watches, lol.

but reviews are made of words, and they can copy and paste their reviews and news on here if they want.

Since this won't seem to die, hopefully this post will help.

Our website did not remove anyone from this community.  We have no power to do that.  If what happened there has caused a member to not want to post here, then there is nothing we can do about that.  That was never our intention, and in fact we hoped it would not affect the thread at all.

We have not explained what happened because it is nobody's business what happened except for the four of us involved.  Our site does post on here when we have articles we think the community may be interested in, but that does not make the internal machinations of that site the business of everyone in this thread.

If I were in an external relationship with any member and it didn't work out, I would have the same stance that bringing up what happened would not serve the best interests of either party.  If that makes you automatically think it was something nefarious then there is nothing I can do about that.

As far as the clicks from this website helping us to get review copies of games, you are mistaken.  The publishers are never informed of what our page views are.  There is also no reliable way for them to find out that information on their own.  They likely take a look at our site and decide based on the content alone if they want to send us a code.  We post the articles here because we think the people in the thread might be interested in what we write.  If you aren't then please do not click on the links.

He does not know what happened on the whole situation, he knows as much as all of you, and is not affiliated with IA or the decisions we make at all.  Please direct any criticism of the site towards Tyler, Stotch, or Gator.

There will be pre-order DLC for all, and none will be cross compatible. Activision will then blame consumers for killing the genre in March.

Personally, I am sorry if I've offended you guys with my self-promotion and appreciate the feedback, even if it could have been shared in a less confrontational manner.  

I'm pretty insulted by Velo's accusations of just copy/pasting everything, I've actually put a lot of time and effort into the OP, additional posts, polls, contests, and other things we've done here in the thread to try and make some fun.
