I have to wonder, and I know someone who was able to do this, but if you have enough tax deductions where you get a big refund, how big your tax bill, if any, would be at the end of the year? She had enough deductions with her two kids, house, and medical expenses between them that she didn't have federal income tax deducted and still didn't owe anything.

You've lost me. I get the second part where they don't do withholding and then have enough deductions they don't pay tax. Then you're asking about how a refund works with that? Deductions don't really get you a refund beyond getting back your interest free loan to the government as far as I understand. A refund comes into play when your interest free loan is greater than what you owe or there's something like the EIC coming into play.

And then as far as next year goes I believe that refund is just counted as taxable income. So basically don't give the government interest free loans if you're reasonably responsible enough to set enough aside to pay your taxes if you owe any.

I totally agree with this line of thinking. This year we owe a couple thousand overall. We knew this would happen. Most years we owe a few hundred tops.

With interest rates on saving accounts a fraction of a percent at the bank. I don't think a no interest loan for a few thousand really amounts to much. But yeah I rather have more of my money in my check then waiting till April to get my money back.

Well of course it's not a ton and that's the exception where your taxes are going to vary widely year to year. Ideally you would have enough saved to cover the previous year that you could cover the current year while putting the money that would have been withheld into a high yield account or something similar. Of course that's easier said then down and we're not all Tyler with our financial ducks all in a row and able to fill a room in our house with Funkos.

It's just not a great system for the average person and really terrible for the working poor.

Tonight, I tried to get back into Sly 2, but I ragequit for the same reason I did a couple months ago. That stupid water bug mission pisses me off to no end, and it's not made any easier by the shitty design of that level.

I think I'm just in a gaming funk. I don't want to start new games, and when I do, I don't finish them. The only things I've been completing are the BttF episodes.

So mkx is pretty great. A lot to fool around with which is fun, I like the weird tower stuff, especially the online tower challenge race thing, that was a pretty creative addition. It sucks that there's exactly one trophy that I won't be able to get without doing a bunch of ranked match quitting and cloud saving like a complete lameass, but hopefully that'll just keep me from doing a bunch of mindless grinding for the other stuff.

And good golly miss molly they must've had a complete lunatic design the menu system. and online lobbies. And the krypt. What happened there??
 
The most difficult park for me is hitting chef consistently. I can get him going 4x, but then 10x more, sheesh. I just try to get it by hitting it at the very edge of the right bumper. I finally got lucky earlier with a 10 mil pirate shot right at the beginning a free ball, but can't do that much either. Multiballs are pretty easy to pull off. Hit the jimmy by holding the left bumper when you go the stan kiss route and you should hit it pretty easy for kickbacks every 5 hits. yeah just read that link.

 
Type-0 HD is done. The final CG cutscene singlehandedly made up for all of the subpar in-game graphics, and the ending was pretty awesome. I hope the rumored sequel is developed solely on current-gen.

JP Episode 2 in the books.  Not as good as the first episode but still enjoyed and makes me want to keep going.  Now to clean up the dumb too quick and laggy QTEs.
