I usually don't hold a ball unless, like Mild, I'm trying to slow things down for a minute or going for something specific.  After some practice on a table I usually have good timing that I can eyeball when to press the flipper as the ball is coming down it to hit the shot I'm going for without stopping it.

I'd also love it if there was some easter egg on the Portal table where, if the ball goes through a portal, it ends up on another Zen table you already own.

Picked up 2 Star Wars tables, Demon Gaze, Mamorukun Curse!, Adventures to Go, Battle Princess of Arcadias, Mystic Chronicles, and Class of Heroes 2.

PSA - Mother's Day is Sunday. Get your moms and wives of your kids if you have any something nice.
I still have yet to figure out what I want

I was about to come in here and bitch this morning because lego batman 3 was showing 99.8% complete and I couldn't figure out what I had missed…after checking the character shop for like the 5th fucking time I realized I had forgotten to buy one.

My 3rd plat :)

and level 9 now too :D/

Oh yeah, mothers day. My wife and I have gone to a strict 'no gifts' policy. It seemed dangerous at first but now that we've done it for a while it's pretty nice.

But thanks, I do keep forgetting to order my mom's flowers.  And I am trying desperately to remember her birthday this year.   I even had to get my wife a mother's day gift cause the kid wanted me to get one.  $110 later...fuck me.

Picked up

  1. Killer is Dead (PS3)
  2. The Legend of Korra (PS3)
  3. Strider (PS3)
  4. Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater HD (Vita)
  5. Kitty avatars

Where are you in terms of progression? I suspect you might be stuck at the same place where I got stuck for a short while.
im on the far right side of the map, i got the item that you shoot with Y and can control independently. doesnt seem like theres any new areas for me to go though.

I try to catch the ball a lot as shooting from a caught ball is a controlled shot. I do take shots on the fly depending on the shot - in some cases a shot is easier on the fly than it is from a caught ball, so it depends on what I'm going for. If you're under the gun for time you're going to take more on-the-fly shots too. Also you have to consider that these virtual simulations are much more repetitive than a real machine. The granularity of the simulation is much rougher than reality. I never just flail at a ball unless I have no choice. The hope is always to get the ball back under control.

But that Portal table looks dull. There's no much to it and it seems super repetitive. You think that guys playing is dull, but really it's the table.

How long did that take you? I stopped after getting most of the story trophies but if there isn't a ton of cleanup left maybe I'll go back for it next time there's a good sale.

I got the majority of stuff during my first play through, my second which was the cleanup was very fast. Maybe like 2 days, which would be around 2-3 hours?

every zen table is dull. Those walking dead tables are pretty much electronic melatonin. That doesn't mean that watching someone catch a ball over and over isn't dull too.

Trying to ball on a budget for my mom this year. Her mom passed in February this year after a pretty steady decline through the holidays last year so she's been pretty bummed all year. The closer it gets to mothers day the more obvious its getting. She's got an appointment to get her hair done Friday tho, and I've got her hair dresser in on the surprise act. Gonna drop of a bottle of mad housewife wine, one of those giant novelty goblets that hold the entire bottle, and have the appointment paid for. Got one of those novelty cards that says "sip back and relax" or something on it and some chocolates too. Then the standard family stuff for sunday.

TL;DR

Sad moms like surprise commercial goods and chocolate right?!?

Simulated pinball tables are too repetitive. This problem is exacerbated by the poor designs in Zen, but that physics simulation repetition is present in Pinball Arcade too. It's not boring to see a player catch a ball and make a tough shot on a real machine in the real world. And the physics behind a drop catch or a live catch are cool.

If only real pinball tables cost $3.50 on sale. :shipfree:

Pinball is just dull all around.
I don't know, I used to work in a restaurant that had Adams Family Pinball and between the table itself and the friendly wait staff\kitchen competition it was hard to beat. Still have fond memories of that. We also had a Pac-Man or maybe Super Pac-Man? that the big boss wasn't real happy about when my initials replaced his on the whole board.

Leagues are friendly competition. The social aspect of it is a big part of it for sure. Highly recommended!

My eyes are dilated so everything is blurry as fuck. But my eyesight actually improved which is weird. Still need glasses for distance, just not as strong as my current ones.

My eyesight has been improving steadily for 3 years now. I still need contacts but I went from a -4.5 to a -3 over the last few years. Apparently that can happen with near sighted (or is it far sighted? I always get confused, but I cant see far) people until you hit 40/50 or so then you start needing reading glasses. I hope I buck the trend and dont need reading glasses as I hate to wear glasses in general.

Thanks to this dumb pinball conversation I've now found a relatively close pizza place that has a Simpsons pinball table along with cirqus Voltaire, doctor who, Indiana Jones, iron man, spiderman and tri zone. nerds!

I will visit them.

She played the Vita one. You played PS4. Apples and Oranges.

The end game stuff takes a long time. I could give you a better estimate later this week since I am playing the PS3 one now. I dont recall exactly from when I played it on PS4.

I wonder if eye sight is improving due to the improvements in display tech as well. At least my eyes are not as tired all the time as they used to be with CRT monitors at work and tube TVs at home.

Ah, I missed that then. Thanks. I do still need to go back to the PS4 version at somepoint but not till a deep discount occurs later this year.

I got that email about some of my MS currency expiring too. It's fucking lame that their Music and Video stores are under the "Xbox" brand so I'm banned from buying anything from there, total bullshit.

Basically only thing I can spend it on is useless Windows 8 apps. But I definitely want to spend it on something rather than let MS just absorb the money, even if it is just $15 or so.

MS did you a favor, PS for life! It's kind of crazy how when I look at my 360 now it just looks like boxed cancer. Need to get to Alan Wake and a couple of others so I can dump it. Only problem is then I'd have to play it.

Alan Wake is really good - you should play it sooner rather than later. Although it's on PC as well.
