Woah so super mega baseball is good...guess I'll grab it...gotta go through this Flash sale now...under the gun.
Yeah, I'm liking it. Tried a game on the highest level, 99 - Impossible, and I have no idea how you're supposed to get a hit in it without getting lucky. I find the middle levels, around 50 or so, to be a good, competitive, matchup but I'm playing a season on 25 right now just to try to get most of those trophies.

Speaking of Tool (Maynard) the best was going to a Tori Amos show with my girlfriend and then out of nowhere Tori pulls him on stage to do a song called "Muhammad, my friend". It wasn't quite as good as seeing Tool not long before on the Anemia tour. Being smack in the middle of the floor looking at Maynard being weird, painted up half white and half black, but it made my night.

The funny thing about Tool to is I bought the "Opiate" cassette on release because a rock magazine said they sounded like Soundgarden and Nirvana. I was like nope but fell in love with the band from that moment on despite the review being wrong.

jkam says: I'm not buying any more PS3 games!

jkam buys

PS3 - Mass Effect Trilogy - Never played any so I figured $4.80 for a trilogy I kind of have to

(will kick self when PS4 version is announced but at least this is cheap.)

PS3 - Red Fraction Guerrilla - I justified this by I have it on 360 and I did want to play it so one less game on that dumb system.

PS4 - Super Mega Baseball - I'm a sucker for fun non-serious sports games. I still play the original The Bigs from time to time. The Bigs 2 sucked in                comparison.

I started a level 20 (lowest Medium level) season in SMB and I didn't win the first game. I suck at baseball (but it's fun).

RFG is the shit. If you ever wanna play some mp we should all get together. I'm still working to get my ostrich.

also yeah I saw Bowie/Reznor in 95 I think it was (i was 12, lol) and then Reznor/Maynard in 99. Good times

i was a crazy teen back in those wild days when you don't give a fuck and think you are immortal.

If Tool doesn't release a new album soon I'm going to go and burn down Maynard's vineyard that he seems to be so preoccupied by.

Marlins hired their GM, Dan Jennings, as their new manager.  While the guy has a ton of baseball experience in terms of scouting and player personnel, he has little on the field experience.  Mike Goff, their advance scout, becomes the new bench coach.  This feels right up there with Mr. Burns managing the Springfield Power Plant softball team.

Jennings: You, Stanton!  Go hit a home run!

Stanton: Okay, Skip.

(hits a home run)

Jennings: Ha-ha! I told him to do that.

Goff: Brilliant strategy, sir.

I was a little older probably about 17 (fuck me I'm old) and saw Bowie/NIN. It was a pretty crazy show. I was on the floor but an area further back from the stage where there were a ton of folding chairs setup. NIN played first and I remember clear as day there were a lot of suit type people with passes and other older couples dressed nicely probably there to see Bowie (not judging just saying). So NIN played first and March Of The Pigs started the madness. Needless to say it got to the point where we were handing folding chairs to the guys working security so we wouldn't get smashed in the head with one. Fun times.

You were not exaggerating one bit on that final boost race Vig, what a bullshit race that is, took me 3 1/2 hours to beat it. In boost races they add extra boost pads to the map and strip out all the item pick-ups so theoretically it should just be pure racing ability. In practice, the AI cheats as no matter your speed rating the AI is faster than you when not powered by boost pads and there is a long stretch in Lap 1 and 2 that has no boost pads which allows them to catch up.

First I tried tails with his super mod (the best handling), but he isn't fast enough even if you don't run into any walls. Then I tried the opposite end, Sonic with his super mod which is super top speed, but with low boost. Even though I have used the boost pads to reach my top speed, they can still pass me on sections without boost pads. Next I tried racers with super boost mods for maximum thrust on boost pads, but with lower handling you have to release the gas to make tight corners which allows them to catch up.

Finally I settled on boost mod for Sonic which is 1 (of 6) acceleration, 5 (of 6) speed, 5 (of 6) handling, and 5 (of 6) boost. This seemed to work out the best for me, but 4 separate times I performed the first 2 laps close to flawlessly and got a nice lead, but the the final lap takes a different path and on the final straight away, despite me missing no boost pads, they caught up and overtook me in the last 50 feet...4...times. Finally I hit an uber perfect run in which I didn't miss a single boost pad or stunt boost that i was able to finish the map four feet ahead of 2nd place.

It shocks me that this is more common than the "finish all GP tracks 1st place on expert" trophy as that was so much easier than that last boost race. I guess people must fail at getting all 232 stars and then stop playing.

So now it's just grind out some time trial (which isn't that hard) and unlocking mods (which is easy, but tedious) and I'll have the plat.

I told you. When I finally won that Boost Race (I used Sonic but I don't remember which mod I used), my hands were shaking and I was so happy that it was done.

A word of warning, though: Getting all mods for the Triple-Star License--actually, you won't need all mods, just most of them--will take you quite a bit of time even if you play an easy Ring Race (I think I did the Emerald Garden one?) over and over and over and over again, as the % counter seems to take forever to go from 99% to 100%. Thankfully, that's more of a test of patience than of skill.

I've gotten really good at the aircraft carrier ring race so I can knock that out on hard with so-so handling and expert with the handling mods pretty easily. Right now I'm going through and doing the easy, medium, and hard ghosts in time trial with racers I haven't unlocked all the mods on as you get a little experience. Once that's done I'll see what my percentage is at and work on some expert ghosts with a better racer.

I also did a bunch of time trial ghosts, but once I got all of the ones I could, repeating an Expert Ring Race seemed to net better experience gain over time.

Reminds me when we went to see Slayer on Valentines day probably early 90s at the Nassau Coliseum. Man my memory sucks Testament opened up for Slayer. We had 16th row or so Floor right side of stage. Within a few songs most of the folding chairs around us (including ours) were all busted apart and many were bent up. People from the upper deck were ripping the seat cushions off their chairs and lighting them on fire and tossing them down. We were told to take our seats. I explained to the security guard we are standing approximately were our seats were but they were now piled up in the penalty boxes. He just mumbled something and walked away.

I don't even think the upper most deck was completely sold out but tons of damage and mayhem.

Last night while playing Garden Warfare or whatever it is called with Velo and Cleaner I realized something we all already knew.  I suck at competitive MP, especially shooters.  I was pretty bored really.  I liked playing the co op with you all much better so I am down for that again sometime.

yeah i used to mosh like a werewolf. I remember I was friends with the manager at hot topic and she was there and she kept scooting back to get out of the pit area and i kept pushing forward to get closer to the band. It was an awesome show. I used to see rammstein and msi and kmfdm/pig. good stuff. we hung out with raymond watts and sascha and jimmy urine. benefits of having hot goth gfs when i was a teen. surprised so many of these band guys never go to jail the way they used to hit up concerts and get wasted/fuck any chic that was hot. jimmy urine signed my girl's tits but im pretty sure they never banged. lol. n yeah maynard didn't play from tool he was doing a perfect circle, but still awesome. security was awesome at those places. I remember almost throwing joints away and they were like no way man we are just looking for weapons etc. that was at pops over in sauget and riverport ampitheater, way back then. pops is still shady as hell.

I made the mistake of thinking, "I wonder if that is PS TV compatible, the kids would probably love it."

Dad and Dumbass of the year all at once. Count me in for getting those MP ones done sometime.

I enjoy how cute it is, but the cuteness takes away from the epicness. Playing mw/bf I always feel like im running for my life i guess those are more fps, where this has a 3rd person view, but explosions and bullets and noobtubes. PVZ just seems so muted, i know its a kids game, but still. also when you have all the powers unlocked it is more fun, i basically am just going for trophies/challenges at this point. also it seems like you die really easy, its like hardcore but smiling flowers. that fucking daisy chain of heal flowers we were all laughing at and then they stomped the shit out of us while smiling and basking in the sun. holy cow. yeah im def down for more pvz and even tlou mp i gotta do someday on ps4. i already beat crazy survival, but im down for that too. even gnome bombs wins. if we get rpg on our side we will be unstoppable ;)

also manson played at the fox once. it is a fancy place and i remember 80 y/o ushers telling us to quit knocking each other around. lol. its like we are supposed to just sit or stand and listen peacefully, idk. this was all back in antichrist superstar when it was still good music. <-subjective opinion!

also im down lbp vita boosting whenev

My "fire at a concert story" is kinda lame because it was a planned fire by the band, but when I saw Metallica in '97 on the Cunning Stunts (hehe) tour, they pretended all the shit was breaking at the end of Sandman.  Dude tried climbing down from the spotlight in the rafters and slipped and got caught in the ladder.  Bunch of other lights popped and smoked.  General chaos on stage.  Then some dude fucking runs out from under the stage on fire.  We all thought it was real and were like HOE.  LEE.  SHIT.  Show was in the round and we were pretty close to the floor.

But then they lowered down some little light bulbs and brought out some little old school amps and did a few garage days and kill 'em all tracks old style.  It was fucking awesome.

Closest I've been to actually moshing was a Foo Fighters show when it formed in front of me on the floor.  I just stayed out of it and tried not to get knocked over and tried to make sure people didn't knock my wife over.  I was so sweaty after that mofo i felt like I had a hangover.  Had to stop and Gatorade that shit up after.

You should create 50 bogus PSN accounts so you can get that 50 unique players trophy. Just need an extra memory card and a ton of patience. I'll bet Mild does it.

Nah, I just did the ps3t play for play thing. That was the least abusive trophy of the mp lot I think. The hardest part was getting people together for the 4p stuff. jay was kind enough to drag me along for the mp bubbles which is also thankfully short.

This was the infamous foot-on-the-vita game for the 24h create though, so there's that.

I went to see them here in Tampa on that same tour in 97! They had a guy fall from the ladder and run out on fire but this was all at the end of One and they even had a helicopter come down from the rafters on fire or the guy that fell down the ladder was coming out of the copter or something I cant remember exactly. It was fuck ing awesome.

Oh and we were in the second row in front of Lars and they had hugantic walls of flame come up out of the floor right in front of him. It was so damn hot where we were I dont know how he could stand it.

Only real concert I have ever been too. #truestory

Nope... just dumbass of the year. The compatibility list I looked at had the PSP version listed and I found that when searching and I did not pay attention. fuck!!!!!

Ok here's the Cunning Stunts stage destruction as described by me and pharm.

If you don't want to listen to Sandman for the 4,815,162,342nd time, the good stuff starts at 5:10

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rI9qlufMH-E

I remember being at a Tool concert in the early 2000s and Maynard just stood in the back of the stage in the shadow wearing women's underwear. It was pretty funny.

I had, somehow, gotten right to the front on the floor (gen admission). Although cool to be close, getting smashed against the rail suuuuucks.

I had a floor "seat" at a Primus concert with Offspring opening for them in the late 90s.  My friends were very glad to have the Yeti with them since people were getting the shit kicked out of them in that mass of humanity.

One tiny teenage girl made the mistake of trying to crowd surf in that shit.  By the time I finally was able to pull her down from those animals her shirt was gone and she had been groped by so many people it was just sad.  She looked terrified as expected.  Her friends all were thanking me as they tried to get her out of there.  Other than having to witness what those shit stains did the concert was a damn good time.

Capcom will be "prioritizing" HD remasters of their catalog: http://www.ign.com/articles/2015/05/18/capcom-prioritizing-hd-remasters-of-hit-titles?abthid=555a3128f61b6a957b00000d

This might not be so bad, but...

"Overseas, it is becoming difficult to sell these lower-priced and re-mastered titles at stores because of the declining number of stores and sales area limitations. Therefore, we started aggressive digital download sales activities," the publisher explained.
UGGGGGGGHHHHHHH

Speaking of moshing, I did my fair share back in the day. The most ironic part to this day to me is that I'd seen plenty of "heavy bands" and went straight for the pits with no issues. Then when I went to The Tibetan Freedom Concert (2 day festival) fuck ing BLUR of all bands was playing and I got blindsided by a swinging arm. Who the fuck moshes to BLUR? Got a bloody nose. Only moshing related injury I ever got...lol.

I bought that on VHS on release sometime in 1998. DVD was still pretty new tech then. I also still have my VHS copies of Cliff 'Em All and A Year and a Half in the Life of Metallica.

First time I saw Metallica was on the original Summer Sanitarium tour in 2000. (Metallica/Korn/Kid Rock/Powerman 5000/System of a Down)

It was at Kentucky Speedway, which had been open for less than a month at that time. It was in the middle of July, and it was ridiculously hot. They were charging $5 for a bottle of water. We found out after we were already in the stands that the infield was included in the general admission seats, so we headed down there. To get there, we had to walk over a mile around the outside of the track. It was the closest I've ever come to passing out. I was still pretty fat at the time, so it was even worse.

To top it off, it was only 3/4 of Metallica playing. We found out early on in the day that James had gotten a back injury while water skiing. The show still wasn't terrible. Jason handled a few songs, Jonathan Davis from Korn sang One, Serj from SOAD did Sanitarium, and Kid Rock handled a few (which were the worst of the set).

They ended up doing a free show a couple months later in Rupp Arena in Lexington for everybody that had tickets to the other show. That show was badass and it turned out to be the last show that Jason played with them, so that was cool to witness.

Once I saw all of you guys asking "Who moshes to XXX?", I remembered that Offspring started playing Undone by Weezer and the mosh pit started back up.  About 30 seconds in they stopped playing and asked, "Who the fuck moshes to a Weezer song?"  Good times.

I saw Primus (with Drums & Tuba) in the mid-aughties, but it was at an old theater with attached seats and shit, so no moshing or surfing went on. Some dudes next to us tried to get all bangin around, but another big dude between us and them put a stop to that shit real quick.

Ironically (or not I don't know thanks Alanis), Weezer opened for the Foo at that show I was at. There was no moshing during their set.

But the Foo can get pretty damn heavy and loud during their shows. Dave knows how to bring it. Their radio friendly tunes might not seem that they would translate well, but live you don't question it.
