The presenter said they were "leading with a digital release", but I thought that meant a physical release would come later--usually when you lead with something, it's followed by something else...right?

#thatsastretch
They're leading the shift to pure digital releases.

I finished up the Unity plat. 99% total sync. The only thing I left out was the artifacts in the rifts. fuck running around on a time limit looking for those. I don't think all 50 of those Paris Stories missions or all the murder mysteries were even required for the plat, but I played them because they were fun.

Hear that, Caniac? I PLAYED THEM BECAUSE THEY WERE FUN.

And now Caniac is sitting there like

Nah, I'm proud of you. :applause:

I thought the gameplay trailer for that game looked kind of bad and it definitely didn't get the feel of the movie right at all.
Look, I liked the movie a lot and it was a great action movie. But it was one long chase scene. You want the game to be one long chase scene and thats it? The game may turn out to be shit or just average, but comparing it to a 2 hour movie that was a one trick pony (regardless if it was awesome) makes no sense to me.

Looks like it's not just fancier graphics for FF7:

http://kotaku.com/the-final-fantasy-vii-remake-wont-be-exactly-the-same-1711909183

Anti-hoop version:
Might update story and:eek:r gameplay as well as graphics because they think just a graphical overhaul would be boring.

“The original version is a game that came out in 1997, and if you look at it today, you can feel how dated the graphics and the game system are,” Nomura told Famitsu. “However, that’s also part of Final Fantasy VII.” Nomura added that even today, the game continues to get support and that is unlikely to change.

However, it sounds like like the remake will feature evolved gameplay. Again, here’s Nomura:

“We haven’t shown any gameplay yet, but since we’re updating them quite a bit, please look forward to that,” Square Enix’s Tetsuya Nomura told Dengeki Online. (Note: The word Nomura used, 進化 or “shinka,” can also mean “evolution” or “progress.” He didn’t say 変化 or “henka,” which means “change” or “variation.”)

Linear FPS levels with quicktime events confirmed.

I am not sure that Wren's response was strong enough. A vast majority of the trophies are missable. You can get most on a second playthrough, but some could take quite a while to get to.

You definitely want to at least use the collectible guide. It is spoiler free as far as I recall. Just realize that it could take a complete second playthrough for the plat if that is all you use.
Thats why I led off with "check the guide." I cant remember every detail 6 months later. I just remember that the collectables were missable and the main thing that would be tricky. And they are. There are different types like the weapons and items, but they are all collectables.

The game looks pretty generic and like a weak attempt at mimicking the style of the movie. Maybe the game is more awesome than the trailer lets on, but that seems doubful.

Weak attempt at what? So you want the game to be one long chase scene? Generic? It looks pretty similar to the movie. Desert looks like a desert...

Somebody get this damn Kingdom Hearts thing out of my trophy card (though the blame partly lays with Sony becuase it doesn't look like trophies synced automatically last night). Not that I have anything against KH. I've just never played it.

Just use the guide from ps3trophies.  On the very bottom is a very minimal walkthrough that keeps you on the right track without having to constantly check back and forth.

No, but maybe the problem is that Mad Max isn't well suited to be a game, but I was talking about the style and the characters. It feels quite a off to me. Maybe the game will be fun. Go for it and lets us know.

Go to PSNP, click your username in the top right corner, and choose Trophy Cards from the dropdown. Choose Change Background. In the "Select from an existing theme" dropdown make sure it's set to Latest game played. If it is, manually switch it to something else, save, close, then go back in and change it back to Latest game played.

Just tried that, but I'm back to KH again after I switched it back to last game played. Oh well. I'll manually sync trophies tonight and then hopefully that clears it up.

Incidentally, even my oldest, Nintendo fan, thought the Nintendo conference was a huge disappointment. Not that he didn't like any of it, though. He's definitely looking forward to the Mario & Luigi game and some others.

Best Buy just sent me a $5 rewards certificate because it "has been too long" and they also just sent me a birthday $5 certificate. I hope these can be combined.

Somehow I ended up with two rewards accounts. Every time the "it's been too long" thing comes up I get two of those. They can't be combined since the certificate is tied to the reward account, but it's still a nice opportunity for half-off PSN cards. :D/

I believe I've stacked it successfully but am not completely sure about that. There shouldn't be anything different between this and the normal certificates you get for cashing in points, so I don't see a reason why not. There's no language on the certificate saying you can't, either.

Also noticed the Capcom Arcade Collection is $9.  That's 17 (I think?) different games.  Normally its $10 for a 3-pack of games.  I'm grabbing it.

Trying to keep up here, and wasn't sure anyone mentioned that Sony is fitting a lot of the bill for Shenmue 3.  First game was $47 to make.  Seems like the kickstarter is just to gauge if Sony should truly put in the money.  Console exclusive confirmed

Yupp as long as it's the same account, reward certs can be stacked and you can use as many as you like so long as the total is equal or more than the certs

Yeah, if they just kept everything the same as JC2 and made it prettier this would be will be with Shadow Warrior 2 for GOTY for me. I really hope these two games play exactly the same in prettier and bigger environments.
I liked some of the new ways (or I just didn't know you could do that in JC2) you can destroy things. Grappling things together and have the grapple pull them together. I assume this is some sort of grapple hook mod you probably have to unlock? Also the wing suit might be cool. Sometimes I wish getting from point a to point b would be faster. Not sure if this is a day one or not but for sure on my list.

If it gets a $10 cert at BB I would probably be in day one.

Though they don't show up in my account like a normal rewards cert. It looks like I have to print them out and they are only good in-store. I'm not going to get to a Best Buy today, so it's a good thing they are both good for several days after we get back from vacation.

This game is for sure going to be a retail release at near full price. I could see it be $40 or $50 maybe but no way it'll be a $20 download.

Yeah I like the new stuff too. I just dont want them to fuck up anything. Dont mess with perfection! But I am sure it will be a better game for it.

I will get it day 1 if it gets the BB $10 deal. Otherwise we will see whats happening in December.

agreed, this is full fledged AAA new IP. it will get the full retail release treatment and go for $60. This game is massive and no where near an indie

It occurs to me that I can delete KH from my trophies since I obviously have none of the trophies. Done via the app! But of course now psnprofiles is down....

Yeah, I expected it as a full release at the regular price. Not sure why Vig was expecting lower...this game is going to be massive. Hopefully that demo planet isn't indicative of the majority of the game though.

the Xbox deals just keep on coming, next week at Best Buy for roughly $429, you can get a 1TB Xbox, Halo MCC, Batman Arkham Knight, and an extra controller....

I dunno, the fact that we haven't gotten a lot of gameplay videos or release-date info made me think it'd be a $40 release at most, but I could be wrong.

I wonder how massive an undertaking going for the plat will be...

The box art looks really nice. I was interested when this was first announced, but I'll probably wait for reviews/a price drop. Not surprised its $60, but I don't even feel like paying the GCU price for this as of now. Terribad E3 demo didn't help the cause any.

No Man's Sky at least started as an Indie title, didn't it? Thus why I thought it was going to be cheaper and download only. I guess if that price is right, then Sony has bumped it up to a AAA studio?

I'll probably pick it up with GCU if BB has a $10 rewards cert with it.

They spent a ton of time on it last year, then more this year. I mean, no hard rules about that, but why bother for a budget title? I can't see them doing that and then kicking it out the door for $15-20. $60 isn't a surprise.

I just hope they're not surprised when an artsy-fartsy game doesn't sell well at full price. I don't like games that have no narrative; they feel like there's no point to play. Maybe there's something else there and we haven't seen it yet, but so far it's nothing more than a glorified walking simulator.

The guys who made Joe Danger are making No Man's Sky (small team). Everyone thought it looked cool so Sony got involved (it seems) with marketing and bumping it up as something bigger. Not sure if they are helping with development or not. May have been unwarranted. Unless they can show me a reason to care I'll wait for the free PLUS version but might not even play it then.
