Ah, good point. The DLC trophies in UC2 and UC3 are ridiculously grindy, but I don't think anyone else here did them. That shit has Cro and Vig written all over it though.
I played a decent amount of UC2 legit, but didn't get most of the trophies. Also, I tired to get back into it and couldn't even find a game.

This fucking luck based 83+ draft team trophy. You can't just quit and restart either because you have to wait 20 minutes to start a new one.

Wolfenstein Old Blood done.  That first zombie challenge was a bitch to get enough points.  Great game/DLC - I definitely recommend it to anyone who liked New Order.

I just.....I don't get Metal Gear Solid.

I just started 3 and I get spotted constantly. Once I get spotted, what am I supposed to do? Basically just die? And how do I sneak? Seems like I can only walk upright or crawl at 0 miles per hour. The cover system with walls and stuff seems so lame too, or it just didn't tell me how to do it at all.

Its just frustrating to me. I'm moving at a snails pace and it's just no fun. Am I doing something wrong? Am I playing these games too late in their lives to enjoy them? Or is the series just not for me?

Serious answers appreciated though I'm sure most will just be "get gud" jokes.

I think the problem with stealth games for me is that the payoff from doing well is really unsatisfying. It's satisfying to be overwhelmed in an action game and come out on the other end alive with all the bad dudes at your feet. It's satisfying to figure out the answer to a tricky puzzle/platforming segment. It's really satisfying to score a goal in rocket league. Whenever I get past a stealth section of a game the only satisfaction I get is knowing that I don't have to do that part again. Different strokes for different folks I reckon.

Maybe the genre isn't for you? Do what most people do, quit if you aren't enjoying yourself.

But if you want to give them a chance, my tips would be waiting for patrols. Abuse their line of sight, figure out how much noise attracts them and at what distance. Always use highest camo for the area you in.

4, Ground Zeroes and 5 enable you to be a gun toting maniac, its more free than a lot of people realize. They hear MGS and they put themselves in a box that they must be perfectly stealthy al the time.

Most stealth games I've played just had bad stealth. Have you played Mark of the Ninja? That was great fun and stealth kills and just sneaking in general felt great. Deus Ex: Human Revolution felt good, but fucked it up by having boss fights. I haven't played any of the Hitman games yet, so I'm not sure on those. MGS, AC, and Batman aren't stealth games, IMO, and they really confuse the genre by being labeled as such.

I'm planning to play Styx and Dishonored next month, along with TLOU:R. Hopefully at least one of them does a good job with it.

pinball PSA:

chewy - you're going to lose this week, even without adding some weird multiplier to pachinko random bounce simulator.

elder/madchemist - you don't have scores posted for Taxi which is a fun table

mpaullin/munky - no scores from you

Consider scoring closed at noon on Sunday.

I got all my wizard goals on these two tables, so yeah!

For next week:

Scared Stiff + Big Shot

-or-

Black Knight + Create From the Black Lagoon

-or-

Cactus Canyon + Whirlwind

or suggest
Finally got the 1000 points on one ball goal on that glorified pachinko machine of a pinball table. I'll be glad to never play that again.
Yeah, scores top out right around 6k. I'm just below. Not going to try anymore, so others win. Especially x1000000.

yeah, I read the mgs5 reviews last week and was certainly more interested. I might enjoy the more bite sized ground zeroes more so maybe I'll take that for a spin first. I have mgs5 reserved at the library just in case, but I doubt I can finish even the main story in a week so I might still avoid it.

I played 4 and yeah I could get through the first few areas just running and gunning. But it sucked. It isn't an action game. It doesn't have the proper feel to it. 5 gameplay vids make it look more of the same.

I'll play around with the numbers on Monday for kicks, but I doubt I'll do anything too ridiculous with those scores actually. I'm amazed at how awful that table is, I feel like I need to make amends with everyone.

That's exactly how I got it last night on PS3. Wasn't really trying too, just happened. Probably got it that way on Vita too whenever I did it there. Don't remember.
after trying way too many times I decided to just stop trying and play the multiball and got it on the first one I landed. The timing isn't as strict as you'd think either, they just have to be in the intersection of the two ramps at about the same time.

Hide in the tall grass in a place where enemies will pass by alone. When they do, stand up and slit their throat and hide them in the bushes. Repeat until all the guards in the area are dead.

That buttermilk chicken sandwich at McDonald's is pretty good, though I don't know if it would be worth the price of more than 4 McChickens at $4.69 if I hadn't had a b1g1 coupon.

Shit, I forgot I haven't played that other table yet. Thanks for the reminder, Mild.

I love Dos Equis, especially when it's the wife's turn to drive.

This was one of my favorite posters when I was a kid. It's now hanging in my son's room.

And Bo Jackson kicked ASS in Tecmo Bowl. Diagonal runs from the top to the bottom of the screen for TDs every time.

I hated Bo Jackson in Tecmo Bowl, my brother was always the Raiders. His daughter also called Marcus Allen "Mucus Allen". I abused the shit out of that uncoverable 49'ers receiver though.

Finished Force Unleashed 2, as two pieces of standalone DLC for Force Unleashed 1 I would consider it good, but a full retail game?

There's the first level which is a bit of a tutorial, then the next 3 levels are really one level chopped into two chapter stops with a boss, the 5th level is tiny (like 50 yards) and just has a cutscene, then 6th and 7th levels are really 1 level with a chapter stop in the middle, and then there's the seventh level in which 1/3 of it is a rehash of the 1st level. It's probably half the length or shorter than the previous game.

Short length would be fine if the story was more compelling but it's pretty simplistic, find character A, character A helps in search for character B, save character B. If I had paid full price I would have felt ripped off, but $5 (what I paid on sale) is a fair price. Unlike the first game, the DLC level is extremely reasonably priced. In the first game, each was $10, for the second game it is a little shorter than the first game's DLC levels but it's only $1. I am assuming that was a universal price drop at some point, it annoys me to no end that they've never dropped the price or had a sale on the first game's DLC.

One thing they did to make it less of a button masher is they mixed in periodic strong enemies which are strong against a variety of Starkiller's saber and force powers to the point where you have to use the correct power in order to either kill them, or break their guard do you can attack with other powers. The force powers are also mixed in with the saber combos so you could go saber, saber, saber, lightning and Starkiller will charge his saber with lightning for the 4th strike which doubles the length of both blades for that attack.

The level design is pretty uninspired and very linear. Kamino, a floating casino city in the desert, a rebel starship under siege, and then Kamino again. I would say they must have had a LucasArts B-team working on this and not given them enough money and/or time to make it more exceptional. The combat is mostly fine, it's just much everything else about it is pretty half-baked.

Has anyone beaten Until Dawn yet? I just finished watching a stream of it. Caught it during chapter 7 of 10 and decided to watch it through the end and have it spoiled. Pretty interesting. I might have to play it myself once it's super cheap.

Seriously 6 months on returns. So glad we don't really bother with selling on Ebay.
Yeah the guy waited 14 days to tell me the game doesn't work and he wants a refund. A game I not only tested but played for over 2 hours, he's claiming won't work at all. Also I have it set to "No Returns" but I know that's not true as ebay forces you to eat everything if a buyer claims an item isn't as described. I even have to pay the guy to return the item, that's fucked up.

NOW I understand why people prefer to sell on Amazon. Buy from ebay, sell on Amazon...got it.

Ugh I'm at work so I can't see the game, but did Cobb seriously get injured now?? At least that Jeff Janis pickup in fantasy could turn out well :/

He probably beat the game (or doesn't like it) and thinks you are Game Stop.

People suck.

Are you talking about the one where you backpedal Montana and then throw a 70 yard bomb to Jerry Rice? Or the un-coverable short pass to Roget Craig? I hate the 49ers, so I refused to play as them, but had friends who abused the shit out of those two plays.

He left the game with a right shoulder injury. I haven't seen the play. Being a Packer fan, that really sucks, plus he's on my other FF team.

For the Last of Us, it really is dependent on how you have the difficulty set. Easy difficulty and the game plays like a run and gun if you want. Grounded difficulty and it is a slow inch by inch stealth game. Partly because you want to save your scarce resources, so there is a higher emphasis on killing guys with your hands.

Has anyone tried this before? I'm not a bourbon person but that one girl and my good friend like it so I figure maybe we can drink it at her house party on Friday?

Never had bourbon with honey, but it sounds like a good combo of flavors to me if the bourbon is good to begin with.
