Absolutely agree on the Wal-Mart comparison. Close to Publix though? I am not so sure about that. They really do set the standard. Target probably is the closest but it still seems like a considerable gap.
I dont get anything fancy (like fruits and vegetables cause they make me angry). All the boxed stuff and things like Milk and frozen dinners and things are mostly the same and cheaper than Publix. But yeah if you want fresh stuff you need to go to Publix. And the Publix people know what they are doing and usually very good with customer service. Which is their thing now since they are pretty expensive. They differentiate well with service.

I still go to Publix for a couple things too and if I need something quick since they are closer.

Targets great for boxed and basic stuff. Fruits, veggies, meats, etc I always go to Kroger tho since theres no publix up north. When I'm in the south its publix all the time.

My dad always talks about how Publix is way more expensive. Maybe that is true in Florida, but it isn't here. Kroger usually is higher on everything and is the only other large grocer chain left here it seems. Wal-Mart is definitely the cheapest but they are never in good locations. In fact, Sam's Club is closer to us than any Wal-Mart store is. I prefer to pay more at Publix than deal with the people that just do not care that work at the local Wal-Marts.

Now that our Publix added self check-outs (which apparently they do not normally like to do) they even went up a few more notches. Since our store is an old A&P location and was larger they decided to do it because of all the room in that store. I do not recall the last time I went in there and had to wait in line.

You guys seen this new fish packet thing they do at publix?

Pick your fish, pick the style you want, and they put it all in a paper packet for you. Take it home and bake for 20ish mins and you have good baked fish.

Havent tried it yet but plan to soon, they were out of the stuff for the flavor we wanted to try.

Nope, dont want fishy smell in the house. But I dont really like to eat fish much anyway.

Don't really care about banning or anything but a lot of us have fun with trophies and hacking trophies can ruin that fun.
I didn't think anyone was being serious about it... at least I hope not.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to buy my very own WWF Champion belt that will, in fact, make me a WWF Champion.

At least I dont live in Kentucky.

.... and yet if you lived here you would still find a way to not get laid

I didn't know they did this. I doubt I will try it though, because I am addicted to the Salmon recipe I got from Publix. Who would have thought Kale and Quinoa would make a damn tasty combination?

Need to figure out how to do this, free plats for DAYS.
From GBATemp:

Free trophies, again, follow the same logic. Modifying trophy files gives you any trophy you want. These files are not protected, since they aren't really important.

Thats pretty much all I took from the news.

Whitelisting is cool but I don't really want to have to manipulate anything to do it, regardless of how simple it is. It just should just be available. Definitely the most frustrating thing about the Vita/PSTV.

Apparently I have been pronouncing Quinoa wrong for a while now.

 • Quinoa (keen-wa) has a light, crunchy texture and slightly nutty flavor.
I was for a while too, until I heard my girl's mom say it correctly when serving it one day.

I thoroughly enjoyed this... especially what must be some of the most awkward contestant introductions I've ever seen. "You beat your kids?" "Sometimes!" Let's hear it for being politically incorrect!

And just when I thought I had seen it all, when the dudes win at the end it looked like the one on the left was going to give his partner a celebratory blowjob but then he remembered where he was and played it off by picking up his name tag.
I actually got a big box today and didnt get a code since they gave me an old regular box. I didnt want to ask for another one so I just left. I wasnt sure this started yet either. Oh well. Only one deal allowed per day I guess.
I got a box with code. Going to wait until later tonight to enter since it's one win every 10 minutes. I'm going to lose, but I'll be less of a loser than midday entrants!

I am glad I am not the only one who thought all of that when watching that clip.

Isn't the entry good for the whole day, they just keep picking from the pool? If thats the case you're just lessening your chance to win.

Last time they did this I'm pretty sure it responded shortly with whether or not you won. You didn't.

I make a weekly trip to Costco for meats and a few other things, but do my shopping at Publix otherwise. They're all over around Nashville. Prices are always decent but for some reason their habaneros are very often in terrible shape. Little baskets just filled with rotten peppers--what the hell is that about?

We used to get all the pre-packaged stuff at Walmart because it was closer, but lately the wife's been getting all that stuff at Target. Target is just so much nicer, plus the Walmart closest to the house is nasty; the employees there definitely do give a damn.

For fresh stuff, we either go to Publix, Kroger, Piggly Wiggly or Bi-Lo. It just depends on prices; all four are within a two mile radius of the house and on the way home from either of our work places. The cost of meat is so ridiculous that we just stock up on what's on sale. Last week Bi-Lo had ground beef for $2/lb, and the week before that Kroger had whole pork loin for $2/lb (I just get the butcher to cut one into 1" thick chops, and usually get about 10-12 out of a loin).

A guy out in the plant worked at a local Walmart while he was in school, and says that all their meat comes in frozen. He claims that their inventory control is so poor that new stock typically gets stored in front of old stock, and he wouldn't be surprised if they have meats close to a year old.

I go to Target for groceries every week. I use cartwheel most times. Even if I save like a buck at most each week. I dont spend much anyway.

Target is so much nicer than Walmart (and prices arent really much higher if at all) and almost as good as Publix with groceries so you got nothing to worry about for a long time.
It's really surprising in the level of quality of customers, employees, and stocking there is between the Wal-Mart and Target that are 5-miles apart.

Wal-Mart I won't go into unless it's an absolute need or a quick run in and out for one thing. Their shelves are a mess, they're not really cheaper on anything (except clothes), and it's just so....ghetto.

Grocery stores:

It's pretty much 100% Fred Meyer (a Kroger company) for us. Great prices and good selection on everything. There's also the WinCo foods which is a little more low class and they force you to bag your own groceries.

If you're a singleton and/or a hipster down here you shop at Whole Foods (whole paycheck), New Seasons, or Trader Joes. You have to make sure everything is labeled 100% Organic and GMO-Free.

Kale-Quinoa (keen-wa):

You likely couldn't find a restaurant in Portland that doesn't have this on it's menu.

Ahh the golden age of television game shows. Where instead of boring talk shows and court shows during daytime TV, it was game shows as far as the eye could see! I want to go back.

And now back to games discussion:

Citizens of Earth:

Not bad, I like the modern setting and quirky style. Combat is pretty dull and couldn't really use an auto or at least a repeat function.

Sound Shapes:

What's the point?  Simple basic platforming set to music? The whole game is just jumping over things?

Tales from Space : Blob

Some pretty frustrating parts (especially with the gravity controls) but I'm about half way done so far and am enjoying it.

Mobile Games:

FF Record Keeper, Chain Chronicle, Elune Saga, Puzzle Trooper, Pokemon Shuffle, YMBAB

Looks like I'll have to try out Valkyrie if even PSNP thinks she's the best.
the thing is her magic gives her nigh invulnerability when you get her high enough level. then it's just holding magic and hoping to not get triple teamed by minotaurs or run out of magic. I could have gone forever last night but I died on purpose just to end my run. Im trying to get an epic run today but idk. the wizard has 'better' stats but i dont know if he gets that invulnerable magic frames, otherwise he would be 'better'.

The real crime here is recording video in portrait.

The stock android camera has a graphic that comes on the screen telling you to rotate the phone it if you start video in portrait mode.

Thought it was pretty funny first time I saw it.
Based on the quality of some of the videos and the location of the Temple Terrace Publix I would imagine a lot of these people arent using fancy smart phones...

jkam, you should have logged in to or joined Dell Advantage Rewards before ordering those copies of Chibi-Robo--I see an additional $15 e-GC offer when it's in my cart, making the game "free".

Methinks I'll just splurge for two copies after all.
