Probably gonna regret that Assassins Creed purchase about 2 hours into it but I skipped Unity which is hopefully enough time off from the series.

PS: DmC says standard shipping will get the game to me by 10/22. Holy shit is that slow. But better than spending an hour in the car to go 14 miles round trip.
Is the DLC on the disc? I could drive by and pick it up tomorrow on my way home from work but well I am not ready to play it now anyway so free shipping is fine.

The Battlefront gifs I posted earlier gave me an itch to give the beta one more try... it's just not fun for me.  Drop Zone is a little fun, walker assault is just a mess.  I want to think that where i'm at right now mentally has a lot to do with it, but seems like a lot of people are disappointed with it.

Bad part about Unity releasing on a Friday: have to have faith the delivery man doesn't decide to take the afternoon off and push me getting the game to a Monday.

At checkout it says it releases on a Thursday. Guessing because they're doing a midnight release. So maybe they'll ship it a day early?
I was supposed to get something on the 8th. It for some reason sat in Atlanta until it finally was out for delivery on the 10th. The mailman did not leave it and the tracking matches that. Now with today being a postal holiday, I am hoping I get it tomorrow so it is only 5 days late.

The lack of picking a class and limited loadout options (made worse in the beta) just makes every life feel sort of the same. There isn't a sense of "Oh, I better pick an anti vehicle class to help the team out right now" or "Our team could use a medic to get some revives". The only differences between lives are what power ups you happen to find. And other than the vehicles and hero pick ups they go away so quickly you don't get much fulfillment from using them.

Plus there seemed to be little to no sense of team play, which in walker assault meant the Rebels always got steamrolled.

I'm actually really excited to get my hands on the full game. Walker assault is definitely a mess, but they've already said they're working on rebalancing it. I've got very few complaints with it overall. And the ones I do have are walker assault related so hopefully they'll get fixed. Not sure if its because I don't play many FPS and don't have the same fatigue, or if its all because of my rampant love for star wars.

you were right to get assassins creed and skip killzone. you did good today.
So are we going to compare notes of Syndicate every day after release or what? For some reason I am HHYYYYYYPPPPEDDDDDD for it. Cant wait for it to release. Probably because I took three days off work after the weekend it releases. Excited to be off 5 days straight for the first time this year.

Yeah, I recently had an Amazon order say it was delivered except it clearly wasn't. Front desk even looked at security footage to prove the guy never even showed up. Probably didn't want to deal with the street closure out front. You would hope that telling the company that an employee is marking a package as delivered days in advance would make a difference but who knows.

Good thing about pre-ordering from Best Buy is they usually wait until the last minute to ship and then automatically upgrade the shipping to Next Day Air. I guess at that shipping price they don't tend to miss their deadlines.

I ordered Shadowfall partially for free shipping. Not sure if I'll keep it or not. You guys make it sound shitty.

I'm just hoping it won't be a total mess. But those are higher expectations than I had for last year's release so I do think that time off from the series did me good.

I also had a $20 reward cert to use up before November so #CAGmath and all that.

Since its the same engine and they fixed the issues for Unity I am expecting that to be fine. There still may be some other issues like normal for open world but I expect it to play like Unity did a few months after release. Which was pretty much flawless (for open world).

hell yeah, this thread is going to be annoyed as shit with us. oughta be fun.

I am surprisingly interested in Syndicate as well, but I am not sure if I will try and rig my Gamefly setup to get it or not.  Since I am playing Mad Max now and JC3 is coming soon, I am slightly worried about massive open world game fatigue.  I guess I will wait to see what I think when I am done with Mad Max.

My other main option is to try and get the Uncharted collection.  I guess playing that would trade open world fatigue for 3rd person linear game fatigue.

Why did you assholes not tell me that Super Time Force Ultra was a shooter (Vig'd)?   Seriously, how did I not know this? I found what I will start playing next tonight.  Thanks!

That will depend on how you interpret "done with Mad Max", because it really will take many, many hours to plat. I didn't do any "fooling around" during my 85+ hours with it.

I'm positive that I used the word "shoot" or some variation of it at least once while singing STFU's praises in this thread, so it's your own fault for skipping that/those post(s).

Does anyone here pay for Amazon prime? I must have started a free trial or something at some point because I was charged the $99 for it. Maybe something I hit when pre-ordering the ps4? I guess I want to figure out if it'll be worth keeping or seeing if I should try to cancel it. Is the streaming service decent if I already have netflix? Any benefits for selling stuff? I don't shop on there too often but maybe could get my monies worth in free shipping throughout the year.

I split it with 4 other CAGs, so it's definitely worth 1/5 of the price for me.

yeah, I always try to pick it up the one time a year they discount it. amazon prime video is a good compliment to netflix both in terms of what's on tap and their original programming (especially if you don't do cable). the 2 day shipping is a nice plus but honestly I don't order as much from them anymore. still nice to have during the holidays and it certainly makes flips to amazon more worth the effort.

edit - we've also taken to using their streaming music service around the house which isn't too bad.

I do, but I've been paying the $39 Amazon Student rate for the past few years.

I think I hit 40 percent last night at around 18 hours in and have not even done the story mission for breaking through the Jaw yet (Gutgash at 2 and Jeet at 1). So I am hoping it does not take me anywhere near that long. I have not really looked into the challenges until this morning, so hopefully that doesn't bit me in the ass. I know I have at least screwed up by not tearing down sniper towers so far, but I hope there is still plenty of those.

Anyone else going to Back to the Future trilogy screenings next week?  The AMC theaters here are actually starting the first movie at 4:29pm, so the exact date and time Marty and Doc (and Jen) arrive in the future.  I love nerdy attention to detail like that.

I also may try to smuggle in some dehydrated pizza.

That completion percentage really doesn't indicate progress towards the plat, as it barely rose while I was doing misc. stuff like clearing out scavenging locations and camps, doing Death Runs, and working on challenges. By the time I had earned the plat, that percentage was at 89% for me, probably because I didn't unlock all of the non-Archangel vehicles or win every single Death Run (I only focused on the Archangel ones).

I get it for the 2day shipping mostly. Really helps out around the holidays since I do most of my christmas shopping there. Streaming service is good with decent offerings I had it instead of netflix for a while.

Well good, then I must be even closer than I realized.

When you have free shipping you'll definitely find yourself picking up cheaper items ($10-20) impulsively since you don't have to reach $35. I don't buy a ton but it's nice to have the option. I'm also sharing it with another person so it doesn't seem as bad.

Just picking up a Red Card from Target can get you free shipping on all purchases so if you would rather buy from there the value of Prime won't seem as good.

Their streaming service through the web page is a bit clunky compared to Netflix (I just use a PC hooked up to the TV so I don't know how their app is) but it does have a decent selection of HBO stuff that Netflix doesn't have. Other than that you'll probably see a lot of the same selection on both services.

If I wasn't so used to using Netflix I bet I could get away with just using Amazon Prime's streaming. Don't really watch a lot of the Netflix originals so I sometimes feel as if I'm not getting my money's worth.

We'll see, I guess. Just make sure you prioritize the challenges for killing 12 enemies without taking damage, killing 8 enemies in a single Fury Mode, and killing 15 enemies with the Magnum Opus' boarder spikes or you might have trouble with them later on.

Alcoholism is a disease but it's the only the disease you can get yelled at for having. Damn it, Sarkisian, you're an alcoholic. Damn it, Sarkisian, you have lupus. One of these doesn't sound right.

Yea I think I'll give it a whirl after a quick browse through of Amazon video. Since I cancelled my cable (still get basic free by just plugging the coaxial cord into my tv), the few hbo and other shows they have on there will help make it worth it...it'd be nice if they got game of thrones..at least some of the first seasons though. I'm sure I'll do plenty of shopping for the holidays too, as well as some video game or vinyl shopping for stuff I can't find elsewhere.

I wonder if USC decided to go ahead and fire him today since the Grier suspension would help take some of the focus off of the move. I was wondering why they did not do it this morning instead of the leave of absence stuff.

It seems like HBO won't put any ongoing shows on Amazon Prime. Sucks if you want to watch Veep, True Detective, Game of Thrones, etc.

But works out OK if you're more interested in stuff like The Wire or Curb Your Enthusiasm.

The leave of absence decision seemed to be the quick and immediate way to remove him from the team when he showed up to work drunk (or some reports say he was sober at the beginning of the day but was drunk by the time they had a meeting).

I think yesterday the decision had already been made to fire him, but when the rest of the stories came out (drunk at a game, drunk on a team flight) they decided they needed to pull the plug immediately instead of waiting for the season to play out.

I think the Grier suspension is just playing out on the same day because it's the first weekday to get this stuff done. There's also the hope that by the time Saturday comes around most of the story will have been over analyzed to death and will go away.

There's a lot of older stuff I haven't seen. I've only seen season 1 of the sopranos, nothing from the wire, and only a few episodes of eastbound and down. Entourage is the only show I've seen all of of on hbo.

Relevant for you Ass Creed Syndication hyping nerds.  This is pretty damn funny.

(Oh and I guess light spoilers for gameplay stuff?  No story is really given away except for maybe a mission title.)
