Did BestBuy ever do a "trade your ps3 for a ps4" deal like Gamestop does?

NVM. It seems like most of the deals were only for trade up to an XBone but I finally found a link to a deal they had in June/July for a PS4..

Thanks for entering!

Unfortunately, you didn’t win today.

And with that...all my hopes and dreams of getting a free PS4 vanish. How many did you win Cro?

ac syndicate postmortem:

anyone that thinks that this isn't the best assassin's creed game that's come out in the past 5 years might be crazy. it's really good. it has its foibles like every ac game but it has enough pros to offset it. if you already don't like ac games it will not bring you in to the fold - I think that ship has already sailed, they're never going to change the formula at this point.

pros:

  • improved combat is improved
  • looks pretty. the unity engine doesn't look quite as sexy as unity did for whatever reason but the performance (for me at least) was solid. the next gen crowd thing is so seamless (with smaller crowds than unity) that you don't even notice that you just walked through 50+ people until you turn around.
  • the driving isn't nearly as terrible as it could've been, it's actually kind of fun
  • finisher animations are nuts and plentiful. as I approached the end I still saw one or two that I hadn't seen previously.
  • for the first time since brotherhood everything seems to have a purpose. every weapon is useful - throwing knives are essentially op, the stun grenade is tits, gunplay is incredibly common vs previous games, etc. chests actually have stuff you need in them. side activities provide worthwhile rewards that don't feel purposefully gimped to lengthen the game. fight clubs and races are actually fun. gang cohorts (equivalent of ac:b's recruits) are useful for a lot of situations. freeing enemy territory actually makes main story missions easier/more fun.
cons:
  • not much of the present day story.
  • a couple dumb grindy trophies but nowhere near as bad as ac3 or unity's chests, I miss the fun ones they used to include.
  • some people seem to think the characters are grating, I thought they were totally fine and even kind of fun.
  • the past story does feel like it starts to drag at about halfway
  • there were also review complaints about the ending? but it's pretty much just like every other ac final boss so whatevs.
So, there it is. Another year another creed game. I'm definitely ready for a 350 day hiatus and I'll gladly go take my $42 or whatever from best buy today.
I wrapped up the story tonight so figured I'd share my thoughts as well.

I think this is right up there with Black Flag and AC2 as my favorites in the series and it was a blast to play. Definitely a far better effort than Unity.

Pros:
Combat is really smooth

I really like the freeing territories set-up

Loot felt useful in this game for once and it felt like you could easily afford everything

Not all the collectibles (I'm looking at you Helix glitches) are required for trophies.

Grapple gun is awesome as fuck. I hope they never take it away!

They brought back whistling!

Cons:
I liked the twins well enough but I really wish you just played one and the other was a supporting character. Felt kinda weak dividing the story among them especially since I just used Jacob all the time in free roam.
Ending was pretty stupid and you feel no connection to Starrick throughout the game
I wish they would commit to either doing a present day story or not. Seems like they are trying to include the bare minimum for it but it is not working at all.

No sleep darts? I used those all the time. Would have come in handy for some of the no-kill missions.

Some of the optional objectives are still really stupid. One of the last missions makes you hide a guard body in a carriage when you are surrounded by like 20 guards...and you cant kill any of them cause thats another optional objective. Not as bad as Unity or AC3 but pretty damn close.

I still dont know if I'll end up with the plat or not since I have to replay like 7 missions for 100% and do the 5000 carriage trophy so if its not done by Friday then oh well!

If anyone besides Vig manages to get the 100% trophy on Super Meat Boy (not the Plat, the trophy for 100%'ing the game) then I'll dive back in. Otherwise I'm probably done.
I mentioned this before, but you don't even need to get all of the bandages for that trophy since the "final" completion % is 102%. You do need to finish every level, though; I don't think you need A+ on all of them, but I could be wrong.

You only need to A+ light world, just beat dark world. I'm not dying to A+ everything in Cotton Alley then beat them in dark world.

New job and new tablet acquired! I start in 2 weeks. I ended up going with the promotion/pay increase. After more research it was the better option. I'll be expanding my network and skills. I also get to keep my PTO for my birthday/PSX in December. San Fran here I come! :D

AC Syndicate got a little better the more I forced myself to play it, though still doesn't break top 3 for entries in the series. One of my biggest gripes is how the two characters and their skill trees are exactly the same sans 3 bottom tier skills for each. By the time theres a noticible difference between either of them you're at the end of the game, and even then Evie ends up the better one due to one skill. She also has the badass Aegis Precursor outfit.

The rope gun is the best, I don't see how they're going to include it in all of them if they choose time periods prior to this one though. Then again, video games, so I'm sure they will and I look forward to it. There were definitely far more useful and frequent gear upgrades than what Unity offered.

That being said, the story sucks. I actually preferred Unity's story. It was definitely more interesting by far. The whole gang aspect makes the game pathetically easy. You could easily never fight anyone or stealth.

Is that a penis windmill at the 1:14 mark?
So did everyone else independently have that thought as they watched it too, or did it take pitfall's comment for you to see it? I'm curious, because that's instantly what I thought as soon as I saw it.

Good news everyone! A blood bowl patch has arrived. So far, it seems to have made the game buggier in new and exciting ways that I wouldn't have been able to dream of.

It's hilarious that Jeremy Langford goes for $40 in our league and for $8 in the other one.
I thought I was breaking the bank when I bid $30 for Williams, and Bell is done for the season. I figured my backup bid of $10 for Langford was reasonable since it doesn't sound like Forte will be out indefinitely. I was wrong on both counts.

I knew you probably had the biggest need for Williams but only had $39, so I bid all my $41 and figured I would get him. I never saw fuckface McPackerfan bidding that much. I guess I was wrong.

How do you know what I put on my business cards??

Someone bid $75 to grab Williams in my work league, so I don't think my $40+ bid was all that bad. I'm the Sage of our league song need all the fire power I can get.

You, sir, are an attempted hate-drafting mofo.

It makes sense that you're also a Tennessee fan.

Link to your league, please.

Goddamn Mitch is hogging all the RBs.
Not sure how picking up Langford for $8, primarily to get me through Lynch's bye week and possibly use him as a Flex in Week 10 when Julio Jones and TY Hilton are on their byes if Forte is still hurt, CJ Anderson for a $1, McFadden last week for $5, having a broken foot Carlos Hyde and in the Giants rotation but not doing much Orleans Darkwa, is hogging RBs.

Damn you Derek.  I couldnt beat any of your Drift scores (they were really high!  good job.) for one of the daily challenges before they reset this morning.  The next three today are piss easy though.  But it looks like it will take me another day to finish because of that.

Here was my ridiculous RB core before the fantasy gods struck me down from my lofty perch:

Jamaal Charles
Arian Foster
Dion Lewis
Latavius Murray
Lamar Miller
TJ Yeldon

That is hogging RBs. I think at one point I had 4 of the top 10.

Kind of glad I split bastion into 3 playthroughs instead of the 2. Not sure if you can NG+ off of a score attack run, and I would have been mad as hell that I had to go through the entire game again (maybe another 2 times) in order to get the all upgrades trophy. For whatever reason, game isn't giving me 2 of the upgrade materials I would have needed (and of course on the 2 weps I use the most pike + mortar) so that I can finish up upgrading them for the who knows where runs.

All in all the score attack mode is proving to be more of a pain in the ass than I expected. Hopefully I'll finish it up tonight, but I might have to swap to fully upgraded weps for the last 2 who knows where runs so I can get the points I need (armor piercing really helps keep chains going). I think I need ~300k before I wrap this up. Swapping weps is gonna suck though since my original strategy was to just hide behind pillars and blow everything up with the mortar and/or stab it from a distance with the pike. More difficult to make it through if you have to run in with the hammer.

I am happy with Ingram, Gurley, and Murray as my main options.  I thought Duke Johnson would have done more than he has, but he is a good bench option.  I thought I might play Spiller along with Ingram more, but I just have better options now that Gurley is finally playing.  Not that it has helped me get many wins so far.

Surprised no one went after Vernon Davis since I got him for $1...  Didn't really realize how the bidding and money works, used too much on a player at the beginning of the season, figured you got more money as time went one.  Oh well

Will use vernon at flex next week.  unless I get better trade offers than what Therm sends.  No I will not take one of my top guys for your player on IR

I just cant get myself to do much in free agency for our FFL.  I have terrible RBs and really not much else.  I have been sucked into Draftkings and Fan Duel more.  Its much more fun coming up with lineups weekly.  I would never tell people gambling is good to start doing but if you guys like fantasy this much you should try a few bucks on either site.  Its fun.  Just dont go overboard and play hundreds of dollars.  I started with $25 on each site and still have that plus a few bucks.

I thought about it, but I had to put all my $ towards Dlo...figured you'd put more on him anyways. I may grab him in my other league if no one grabs him after the initial waivers today to replace graham on bye

Regarding having kids, that was always the plan for us and I can't imagine life without kids. We've got one teenager and one almost teenager. Not too much trouble yet other then them both being addicted to youtube, etc.

I'm just going to have to live with shitty RBs. Looks like Pharms boy Charles Sims will be my RB2 for the rest of the season. He puts up some good receiving points at least. Now hopefully Doug Martin will be the next guy to go down.

Edit: nm, forgot I picked up Blue as well last week who's on bye.

I didn't bother to go for A+ on purpose yet for any of the cotton alley levels, though I certainly did get some of them. So you are ahead of me in that regard if you've gotten all but one as A+.
Why so many references to A+? The trophy list doesn't seem to mention that as a requirement. Is A+ required for unlocking something in the game?

A+ = finishing a level within a specific time. You need to A+ a Light World level to unlock its Dark World counterpart, and you need to finish (not necessarily A+) all Light and Dark World levels, plus find all warpzones and (almost) all bandages, to get 100%.

Damn even on normal Superbeat Xonic is hard as fuck.  It's confusing using the analog stick, directional button, face buttons, and L/R buttons at once.

I have my route for Impossible Boy: 7, 8, 9, 19, 20, 13, 14, 15, 1, 16, 17, 18, 6, 2, 3, 4, 5, 10, 11, 12.

The first twelve are more problematic than the others--if I can just make it through those, I might have a shot at this.
