Yeah, I saw it was on sale now too. Got to try and figure out if I can make it work or not, might just end up skipping the TVs all together this year, and trying for a nice one next year.
It is only a 60Hz refresh which is probably enough for me to pass. We have a 120Hz refresh we got last year for the bedroom TV works well enough. We only use it occasionally and isn't our main set. But I would think 60Hz would show too much of the soap opera effect.

well I went the entire week and didn't buy AC china yet. should I?

I always thought I had to have the high hz as well but this Sony TV I have now is only 60 hz and looks fantastic with no issues gaming. It might just be a good TV though and Toshiba might not so their 60 hz processor will be inferior. But I would assume their 120 or more would be as well...

Not really hyped for any of the BF ads, but I'm not usually. If Borderlands was $20 before GCU I might have picked up that. Besides that most the sales on the cheaper games have already been about that price from Gamefly or elsewhere, and I'm not interested in the more expensive $40 games, I'll just wait for them to get cheaper.

hey zombie army trilogy hoes - mind if I abuse you guys for the 4p trophy some night this week before you get sick of the game and/or finish it?  I haven't had a chance to start it yet but I don't want to miss a chance for online tropheeez with people that aren't awful.

I probably could hold out another year or two before I would feel I NEED a new TV, but that 4K Samsung at BBY is really tempting.  I'll try and get the wife on board.

I've known I suck at fps games for a while now but after playing Metro 2033 I may just swear them off altogether. I keep getting my ass handed to me, even on Spartan mode.

I'm hoping we see some surprise sales on games (Sleeping Dogs, Dying Light, Dragon Age GOTY) but that seems pretty unlikely at this point.

well shit that samsung ultra hd for $1k is actually only $200 less than the price today.  I ain't gettin my ass out in the cold for that shit, I'll just buy the 50" one for the $999 price today.  BOOM.  black friday won.

Our main TV (which would go in the basement for gaming is a plasma) so no dealing with refresh rates. Everything I have read says 120 is what you want minimum on an LCD/LED.

I used to obsess on all the stats and even understood most of them at one point. I think 9 times out of 10 sitting 10+ feet back on a 50 to 55 inch TV most people can't tell the difference. Or the difference is pretty subtle. On a larger screen and sitting closer you can certainly notice things a lot more. The wacky motion stuff I have noticed on cheaper TVs though.

I need to buy a stand at minimum to go with the new TV in the living room so dropping $1000 on 55" 4K TV and sitting 12 feet back watching mostly 1080p content isn't as appealing to me then maybe going with a decent 1080p set and with the money I save buying a nice stand and maybe a sound bar (again this is the living room).

Yeah all the game deals look expensive. I dont want to bother for anything less than $10.

Oh and Crazy, Need for Speed was fun but not $35 fun unless you can trade it in for near what you paid. It should be cheap next year.

today I'm going to pick up a used copy of knack from walmart and I'm going to try to talk gamestop employees in to giving me a free copy of fallout 4.  what could possibly go wrong.

Funny thing is my wife is pushing this more then I am. We have have some unexpected expenses this year. She wants me to finally setup the basement for gaming like we talked about over a year ago before we bought the house. Just not sure I want to spend my Christmas bonus on it or wait till taxes or what.

Ditto, was hoping for a little more on the games front. Might pick up Diablo 3 and Need for Speed at bby, but I was mostly hoping on good bby pricing on Dragon Quest, Divinity, Lego Dimensions, and Transformers. As is, I might as well either wait for something else to come along.

I will play. I still need a bazillion severed limbs for my last trophy before I get the plat.

Oh and thanks for reminding me to buy AC China. So thanks for making me spend money ya jerk!

Were you the one saying that your Walmart order already showed as delivered and picked up, but the delivery date was in the future?

Mine says that all my games were delivered on 11/11 and that they've already been picked up. What's up with that?

I'm pretty surprised that chewy's having that problem. I'm excessively sensitive to that stuff and haven't had a single issue playing in 3rd person the whole time. maybe the x/y axis sensitivity is faster or slower than normal (the camera movement does feel weird but I havent' had to mess with it). sucks though since it is pretty rad.
I think I saw some options on adjusting the sensitivity didn't I? If so I'll mess with that and see if it helps

Maybe, mine showed some weird stuff like that too. I'll probably get there and the upc will actually be for oven mitts.

Huh I think you're confusing me for someone else. I don't give a fuck about the new NFS. I'm really trying hard to think of a new avatar right now.

Yeah, this is kinda what I'm thinking. I may wait it out and get a slightly better 1080p unit (probably with all the smart tv stuff to save an hdmi port) and then getting a sound bar/stand if I need up upgrade what we've got the tv sitting on now.

Your wish list is identical to mine sans Transformers which I already bought.

Okay, while Derek is figuring out breakfast I am already wondering where I should go for lunch.

I need to go to Bass Pro to look for those tumblers so I have a lot of option.

It is Taco Tuesday so I could always do Tijuana.  Or I could do Five Guys (kind of craving it)...okay thats settled, its Five Guys unless the crew wants to go to lunch and they chose Tijuana.

I wish there was a review somewhere for that Toshiba TV. That price is super nice, but I'm wary.
Not that this means much for I read good things about a few Toshiba models a long time ago. They used to make some good stuff. For that price and size its probably a decent risk to take. Unless you get a lemon I would think the TV will be decent enough for that price.

If it helps any I saw a bunch of those tumblers at REI and Dicks sporting goods over the weekend. Like a ton. Not sure if you have either of those places around though.

I've had two toshiba tvs over the years that were cheapos and they turned out to be awesome. one had a built in dvd player and that eventually crapped out after maybe 8 years and just in the past couple months the hdmi got a little janky on it (when it loses power sometimes I have to unplug/replug the hdmi cable in) but otherwise they were solid and looked nice (the other one never had issues). I also used to get toshiba laptops and they were real decent.

they seem to make real middle of the road, functional stuff. can't go wrong for $150 I think.

That 48" Samsung 1080p is also a good price. I guess I'd rather go with Samsung. Shame it only has 2 HDMI inputs, though. $380 on Black Friday. Model number is UN48J5201AFXZA which I can only find at Best Buy and there's no reviews. Looks like it's a new model and they don't have it in yet?
