I said colored because I didn't mean black specifically. Asians, people from the Middle-East, Native Americans, etc.. Is there a better way to put that other than non-white?
PoC (people/person of color) would be a preferred term now.

Colored brings back hella bad vibes.

Look I dont like using the word colored either but NAACP still stands for Colored People.  So I also dont think anyone should get mad at anyone else for using the word in appropriate context.

But yeah I would say non white.

Then again maybe thats racist since we really are a color too.  Caucasian a color?  White certainly is.

Is this another Wisconsin-ism? The people I know from there use borrowed instead of lent and it is like nails on a chalk board to me. Strange Therm-like pet peeve, I know... Please do not use on-line instead of in-line too.

I did a search before posting and saw the wiki page about him being in 9 books. I just scanned the list, but it seems to all be books I did not read and I do not recall him in any of the movie adaptations for books I had not read. Not sure how I could have missed all of the other books with him in it.
1) I think "borrowed" is more a mid-west-ism? I've always said it. I don't say on-line though because that makes no sense.

2) The Randall Flagg character goes by lots of different names in other books. Sometimes you don't realize it's him. Here's a better link then the wikipedia one.

Sounds like a dick move. Also Konami in general is failure now right? Are they even going to make video games anymore?
It'll be pretty hard for anyone to take their games seriously after they barred Kojima from the VGAs.

But this isn't the first time Konami has shown an evil side: According to Nikkei, a Japanese financial newspaper, the work conditions at Konami are absolutely abysmal. Here's just a couple of examples:

...Employees' lunch breaks are monitored with time cards, and employees who return late have their names announced throughout the company.
Former game creators who are no longer seen as useful have been reassigned to other jobs such as security guard, janitor, and mechanical work on pachi-slot machines. Several employees were shuffled around after pressing "like" on a former employee's Facebook post about leaving the company.

any word that doesn't specifically have a history as a term for black people is probably better. non-white is totally fine.

Ah, that's right. I've seen PoC a few times, enough that it makes sense in conversation. Non-white seems worse than colored to me because it seems like an exclusionary way to say it. Not like I'm a person whose viewpoint really matters on that, though, and racial discussions are things I generally stay away from so I'm not up on preferred ways to phrase that kind of thing.

perusing the list of games I've played this year and not a lot stands out as great games.  if anyone ends up compiling a list, I'd put these on there at least for consideration in some category:

- helldivers

- rocket league

- ff type 0 hd

- batman arkham knight (maybe biggest disappointment category)

- tembo the badass elephant (same)

- megaman legacy collection

- foul play

- shutshimi

- mgs5

- disgaea 5

- transformers devastation

- talos principle

- ac syndicate

- blood bowl 2

- super meat boy

- zombie army trilogy

Outside of the Children of the Corn thing mentioned there, I have not read or seen movies based on any of those other works unless the names were changed for movies and I did not realize it. I was wondering if he was the guy in Needful Things and I just spaced on it, but that one isn't on the list even though other searches say that Leland Gaunt might be him.

I don't think I'm going to get much work done today anyways, so if you guys want to PM me category and game ideas I'll try to sort it in to something useful to give tyler.

I didnt see you mention the terrible sound effects for the pew pew from your ship.

Full disclosure, I only actually read about 3 lines and glanced through the rest looking for the reference to pew pew. Didnt see it.

Also, $15 price tag for that game is a joke.
He didn't mention pricing, did mention the sound effect slider wasn't working.

At home for my day off this week, may not be posting as much as they have finally blocked any website that has game related info.

My project for the day is to start ripping my DVD's to a hard drive, want to get rid of them if I can and just use the hard drive to stream movies to TV's and all our devices, as well as have them available to go mobile with.  Didn't realize how long a movie would take on our home computer.  Roughly an hour per title.

Will probably get some gaming in while waiting.  Got sucked back into Madden Ultimate team when I pulled a super rare card that I sold for 300k in game monies.  May still try for the Madden plat, but just hate having to play against loaded teams, so I am trying to wait till my team is fully loaded.  I just hate the matchmaking in the game, I'm in the lowest league but somehow get matched against guys way further in and of course loaded with legends.

Dang, tried to pull up a list of what released on each platform, but the best link was metacritic. And those ones are long as fuck. Here they are anyway though. Probably better to do like last year and nominate a few first, then vote on only 4 or 5 out of the nominations.

PS3: http://www.metacritic.com/browse/games/release-date/available/ps3/date

PS4: http://www.metacritic.com/browse/games/release-date/available/ps4/date

Vita: http://www.metacritic.com/browse/games/release-date/available/vita/date

You'd have to mentally sperate out indie/nonindie.

Probably easier to go through your own TT or PSNP profile and figure out what you've played that way. Here's a game informer list of releases too, don't think it contains EVERYTHING though so it may be easier to just glance at. http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/archive/2015/07/27/2015-video-game-release-schedule.aspx

FO4 peeps: Do I need to carry around the junk that consists of materials for upgrades/settlement stuff? I haven't gotten to a real vendor yet to sell off extra weapons, but I'm frequently hitting my carry capacity thanks to all of the random stuff I'm picking up because I don't know if they're made of materials that I'll need.
When you look at the item it'll tell you what it breaks down to.

Go to santuary and go to either the gun workbench or the settlement workbench, hit triangle I think and you can store all your junk. It makes it available there to be used on any workbench. Once you have more settlements you can make trade routes and that means you can share all your items between any settlement basically.

Also put in a safe in a building and store shit in there, no limit to storage, at least not one ive hit.

Also grab every single deskfan you ever see, you'll thank me later.

What browser do you have on your work pc? I added the betternet extension to chrome and it allows me to get around blocked sites.

My favorites played this year (so far):

Last of Us: Remastered

TWAU

Lords of the Fallen

Yakuza: Dead Souls

Sound Shapes

Infamous: First Light

Infamous: Festival of Blood

Bound by Flame

Oddly not near as many standouts this year. Last year I played a lot more PS3 classics and such, I think.

I actually had a really fun time with Tiny Brains and you three assholes. Game was cracking me up left and right.
I agree we had fun while playing together. But it was one of the worst games I played all year. Only Vikings was worse due to the game breaking stuff. DI and Deadly Prep were pretty close though.

biggest problem is that not many of these actually came out this year. I'm trying to put together lists from the metacritic listings that pares it down to something reasonable - mostly stuff I've seen people mention in the thread or that has gotten press and/or decent scores. the vita list is depressing if you like AAA:

woah dave
grim fandango remastered
kick and fennick
olliolli 2
helldivers
flame over
hotline miami 2
soldner-x 2 final prototype
child of light
toukiden kiwami
mlb 15 the show
stealth inc 2
monsterbag
titan souls
shovel knight
broken age
octodad
tetris ultimate
steins;gate
jstars victory vs
lost dimension
shutshimi
heroes of loot
p4 dancing all night
super meat boy
dengeki bunko fighting climax
superbeat: xonic
bastion
dariusburst chronicles
nuclear throne
bigfest

Child of Light wasn't this year.

I actually had a really fun time with Tiny Brains and you three assholes. Game was cracking me up left and right.
I will always wonder how we started calling the teleporter the transporter. It definitely was fun even though it had its infuriating points too. That just means more of Munky cussing which is always enjoyable.

At least it was not just totally broken like Zombie Vikings. I feel bad about helping to drag wren into that one. I think Tiny Brains was worth it.

You guys should probably makes sure the games you're nominating came out in 2015. Anyways heres my list of games I enjoyed

Mad Max

Talos Principle

Arkham Knight

Transformers
Super Meat Boy

Flame Over

Xeodrifter

Mega Man Legacy Collection

Rocket League

The Swindle

QUBE

Geo Wars 3 Vita

Axiom Verge

Ziggurat

Shovel Knight

Titan Souls

La Mulana EX

Looking over the lists, I played none of this years releases on PS3. They all either came out on PS4 or Vita as well and I picked up those versions. PS3 would have been neglected entirely if not for the backlog.

was gonna add in all the missing stuff, but then i realized lost dimension was the winner anyway. unless we're talking exclusive, but most of that isn't anyway. i think this year we should make the platforms exclusive only, and then do a new category for all the cross stuff.

I'm also giving adventure games its own category since there's so fucking many of them and they're all multiplatform.

unedited ps4 game for consideration:

ps4
saints row IV: re-elected / gat out of hell
resident evil hd remaster
citizens of earth
dying light?  thought that was 2014
apotheon
super stardust ultra
evolve
the order 1886
resident evil revelations 2
devil may cry definitive edition
hotline miami 2
final fantasy type 0 HD
jamestown+
borderlands handsome collection
bloodborne
axiom verge
dark souls II
mortal kombat x
omega quintet
wolfenstein the old blood
batman arkham knight
rocket league
god of war 3 remaster
tembo the badass elephant
zombie army trilogy
hatoful boyfriend
n++
gauntlet slayer edition
everybody's gone to the rapture
until dawn
megaman legacy
metal gear solid 5
mad max
destiny the taken king
blood bowl 2
transformers devastation

guitar hero live
disgaea 5
uncharted ndc
witcher 3
talos principle
dragon quest heroes
ac syndicate
cod black ops 3
fallout 4
star wars battlefront
just cause 3

good year to have a ps4.

Outside of sports games, I didn't play many games released this year. The best was definitely Xeodrifter. Grow Home was okay. Toy Soldiers and STFU are good, but I didn't get far enough in them to really put them in a "best of" list.
