PSNOT 3.0 - Let's Talk About University of Kentucky, Baby!

fucking POS site.  Tried to post twice from Tapatalk and it just sits and spins.

Anyway played some Shadow of Mordor tonight.  Got 5 main missions in.  Then the difficulty seems to have ramped up.  Last hour no matter what I did I would eventually get overwhelmed and then die.  Which levels up all the characters who where there when I died.  Makes it less likely I will progress further.  I was able to counter and finish off enemies but all of a sudden it seems like I miss 3/4 of the counters.

Will give it another couple days but thinking this just isn't a game for me.  I can trade it to GS for like $10 more then I spent for it.

Oh crap I keep on forgetting to pick it up. Luckily I have until tomorrow.

Hey, what do you guys think about this idea for my stream? I was thinking of playing a hip hop album from the year that the game was released while I play. Do you think people would rather listen to the original music or have they heard it enough to not care?

There are two main problems with this those, one, I don't think I will be able to upload the videos to YouTube unless I can figure out a way to mute it and keep the original music in the recording, which I'm not sure is possible. Second, when I'm playing NES games, it's going to be super old rap, I might even get sick of it.

Also, if you guys can only watch one stream a week, try for my Thursday one cause I will be drinking quite a bit during that one.

Broforce is fun solo, though. Hopefully the online gets straightened out.

It doesn't explain the controls as far as I can tell. X jumps. Hold left bumper to run. Square is one weapon. Circle is other weapon. Sometimes there are vehicles you can get in - press triangle to enter/exit. I think there's some other ways the controls work but I haven't figured it all out yet. I believe triggers are shoot buttons too.

So what brought on this crisis?

Ok last update, little over 5 hours to go and we are quite a bit ahead so bug assault should succeed.

First cyborg defense just started, it will be done in 2.5 hours so do a double XP cyborg mission for a chance at the defend trophy.

I thought I knew what bullsh*t looked like in a video game. Then I encountered the two Black Knight Archers in Anor Londo. Holy crap, those guys were terrible.

Oh yeah, when you first spawn in Broforce there are a few seconds when you don't move 100%. You kind of momentarily stutter. So there's that bug even in single player, but it's not a huge deal.

The don't move bug happens when you're running and then stop. Or climb a ladder.

It is a fun game though. Wish there was a way to switch to the bro you want instead of changing them all the time. But seeing all the bros and blowing up all the shit is pretty fun.

But by far my favorite part of the game is how the DS4 light flashes red, white, & blue every time you beat a level.

Yeah I wasn't sure what that was but if you started right away and jumped sometimes u could cancel it. Other times I thought it was done and then I was stuck in place for a moment annoying the shit out of me.

I also didn't realize there was a run button until I tried to do mission where you definitely had to run and jump or you would die immediately. I was nearly 2 hours in lol.

Yeah I didn't know about the run button either. No in game controls diagram in the options or anything.

Also that Helldivers defend event is gonna fail big time. Didn't look like any yellow bar was present at all with hour and a half left.

I'm stuck on the final boss on SwapQuest, just need to beat him for the plat. Seems impossible at this point, even on easy. I guess I could grind levels but it seems like level increases don't actually increase your attack and defense stats.

So what brought on this crisis?
What crisis? The quitting video games crisis?

I read an article that struck a chord with me. Basically, I realized I have a pretty boring personality as my only real hobbies are watching movies and playing video games, which most people don't want to talk about so I'm going to broaden my horizons: learn the piano, work out more, learn Spanish, go out more.

Streaming these classic games is something fun I can do that doesn't take much of a time investment like say Fallout 4 or Dark Souls II would and it is far more social than said games.

Everything is good in moderation but I can't do video games in moderation because I like them too much. Honestly, for awhile, I've realized they're basically ruining my life but I loved them so much that I didn't care.

Anyway, that's about the jist of it.

Even your Twitch archives will be muted.

Nobody is going to to want to talk about you learning the piano more than they would about a movie you saw.

Well then that idea is a bust, thanks.

Nobody is going to to want to talk about you learning the piano more than they would about a movie you saw.
I'm not quitting watching movies. But yeah, playing the piano is far more interesting to people than playing video games. For example, if someone had a piano somewhere and I busted out the latest Rihanna or Taylor Swift song, I'm pretty sure people would be impressed and want to talk about it (obviously these are examples, I'm going to learn more than just the T-Swift catalog). This is far more interesting to people than me telling them about how I finally got the platinum for Super Meat Boy.

Furthermore, unless it's a movie they also saw, I'm pretty sure they would rather hear about me playing piano than a movie they haven't seen.

But anyway, almost nobody I know plays video games like I do, and nobody I know gives a fuck about trophies. The only people who do are you guys and since I get banned here every three days, that's not very helpful.

Guys, what do you do when your job is boring as shit and you hate it and spend all your time there, but it pays more than you can make doing anything else in your area without a college degree and you don't have one of those? fuck me.

So if my job is boring and I don't have a college degree, the answer to all my problems is to fuck you?

Is being impressive and interesting to other people something that others actually strive for in life? I'm legitimately asking here.

I just do things that are fun to me, like playing games and watching TV and I don't really care if other people find it boring. Maybe it's because I'm not trying to meet chicks or don't really care about making new friends? But even when I was a lonely college kid I'd do the same stuff and didn't spend a lot of time learning hobbies or doing things that I thought would help me impress others.

Well there's actually a chance that it would be more enjoyable than what I do for 11 hours of every weekday of my life.
True... I've never had any complaints.

I think maybe your first step is to realize that you feel the same way about your job that most people do. If that doesn't help then try to find ways to shake it up and have some fun... maybe fuck the office whore?

1. Cut expenses to the bare minimum - learn to cook, look at energy costs, look at transportation costs (no new cars, bike to work if possible), etc.

2. Stash everything else in index funds/bonds/cash. Enough cash for 6 months expenses. Bonds at percentage of age-10 (if you're 30, 20% bonds). Adjust for your own comfort level.

3. Keep a detailed budget for a few months. Figure out what 25x expenses are for you and set that as a goal.

4. Tough out the job. When you hit 25x expenses, take a shit on the boss' desk.

5. Play video games all day.

I think I understand where he's coming from. For someone that isn't a social person or doesn't want to get out of the house a lot it might not matter much, but if you're constantly around other people and don't have much to contribute to the conversation or have much to talk about in general then it kind of sucks. It's good that he recognized he enjoys games so much that he has a weakness to just binge on them without doing much of anything else... I think it's important to find a healthy balance for it in your life.

I'll probably make some changes of my own when it comes to my gaming habits. I'll always love video games but I probably won't get back into them as much as I was... when I get to my death bed I don't think I'm going to look back at my life and wish I had played more games or gone the extra mile of grinding for that last trophy.

I've put myself into such a hole that I need a better paying job to start doing all this. I really wanna go to school, be a pharmacist or some shit but when I have to work so much just to be able to pay my bills there's no time or money for school. I just feel so stuck right now.

I hate to complain since things could certainly be much worse. Just one of those "fuck this shit" kinda mornings when I wish I could only work 8 hours a day like normal people.

Helldivers campaign to do whatever completed successfully and I got a shiny silver trophy for my efforts of completing one mission.

Thanks for the heads up on this stuff owl, I got the one from the mission I did last night, had to open armory and it popped.

It was the spreading democracy one I think.

Oh and you dont have to complete a whole mission, I just jumped into one mission that was halfway done, finished it and still go the trophy.

Not that I'm at all encouraging this, but whenever I'm in a situation like you're talking about I always start trying to figure out how to rob a bank.

Looks like the helldivers defend stuff must have been successful sometime last night? Sucks, I already have all the stuff for attacking. I just need one of the defense events to work out at a better time for me lol.

One would think that if there was ever a game that would make me question what I was doing with my life, it would be Woah Dave... but I've been playing it all morning and loving it.

There was one that started around 5 AM, happened to be up then and knocked out a quick mission for it so I have both the attack and defend ones now.

I have a college degree...a Masters even and I am in the same boat as you. Most people hate their jobs. You just have to find other things you enjoy. Like talking shit in this thread.

I'm sure this will get me banned or the secret PSNOT police will tell on me.

I clearly dont try to impress people here since I tell you all about failures more than my conquests (like i have any). But yeah in general I find most people want to try to impress others rather than do what they really want to do. Some do a mix of both for sure. but a lot just look to be impressive to people. All smoke and mirrors.

Speaking of which, I didnt get laid last night. More news at 11!

PSN Store is doing the franchise sales that always go along with the Spring Fever promotion, but no word about an actual Spring Fever this year...

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2016/03/01/ps-store-kicks-off-game-and-movie-franchise-sales-with-resident-evil/
Hopefully some good stuff is on sale for a decent price for some of those weeks. Not really super excited for any of them, most excited for lego week I guess.

Oh and for GTA week, GTA V will be on sale for 35.99 like it has been 20 other times.
