PSNOT 3.0 - Let's Talk About University of Kentucky, Baby!

Here's the live stream from today. Oh, and it's going to be dual-audio if that wasn't mentioned before:

Went to Best Buy and picked up Gotham Season 1 on Blu Ray - which included a free movie ticket to see Batman v. Superman.

#awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwyeah

I'll probably jump on this preorder. I can't think of any recent top-view adventure games I've played and this one seems to have a nicely developed combat system. The leveling and upgrade and equipment systems all seem to take a nice classic approach and the graphics are great. It's pretty different but makes me remember how much fun Secret of Mana was. Having a plat helps, too.

Assuming Gamestop's Vita trade-in value holds at $80 through tomorrow (Tuesday), I'll finally upgrade to the Slim I've had lying around. As a reminder, in terms of "cleaning" my old Vita to prepare it for trade, I should be good to go if I remove the memory card then restore it to factory settings, correct? I know I'll have to shuffle bubbles around once I insert the memory card into the Slim.

Yeah, that's right. And resetting to factory will even prompt you to deactivate the Vita--which is good because I'd forgotten about that when I decided to sell mine.

Thanks, that's good to hear.

I suspect I'll need to trade in the AC adapter with the OLED Vita, but since that isn't the same as the adapter that comes with the Slim (i.e., the Slim's adapter has one end that plugs into microUSB slots while the OLED's adapter doesn't), won't that render my Sony portable charger useless since it has no microUSB slot?

Hopefully this is the next to last dungeon in Tales of Hearts R. (why the R?)

The characters and story have been just fine up to this point.  Now it starts showing some of the RPG tropes.

  • Town nestled up high in the mountains now sells the best armor you've seen.
  • Towns you previously visited now sell better armor. (What, it wasn't ready before?)
  • The main bad guy has his weapon of destruction ready but waits while we wander the world completing side quests.

Toki Tori's ending is pretty good.

Since nobody here is ever going to play it:

As the cute little chicken guy Toki Tori you need to collect all the eggs in a level to beat it. At the end he succeeds in cooking the world's biggest omelette.

It was originally a DS game named Tales of Hearts. Tales of Innocence R is also a Vita port of the DS game, though ToIR never got localized. Presumably the R in each stands for Remake or Rebirth. I saw one site list it as Re-imagination but that's just weird.

I guess it depends what you want out of the game, Madness Returns is more surreal with more polish and straight forward gameplay / combat. American McGee's is a bit more experimental with its weapons and has more of a horror / nightmare vibe. I really didn't like it in the beginning either but by the 2nd level it gets more tolerable / enjoyable. One thing that helps a lot in it not becoming too frustrating is it offers save states so you can save at any time (even in the middle of boss fights) so once you make it through a difficult part, you can save and not having to worry about getting thrown back to a far away checkpoint if you die.

Found my end post on Madness Returns

and my review of the original game
https://www.cheapassgamer.com/blog/241/entry-24588-american-mcgees-alice-ps3-review-dlc-for-alice-madness-returns/
I thought it was horrible and I still don't understand how it was so well received when it came out. Was not fun at all. I played it because I wanted to make sure I didn't miss out on any of the story before playing madness... stuff like that bothers me. For instance, I haven't played any of the AC series but if I did I'd want to start at the beginning

The more I got into it the more I realized that there wasn't really anything to the story but by that point I was invested enough that I wanted to finish it... huge waste of time. It's so finicky and controls so awkwardly that if it weren't for the save state it would almost be unplayable.

Peggle 2 is pretty cool. Right now I plan on sticking around for the plat but we'll see. That 180 optional objectives trophy sounds crazy even with the dlc that's included.

Good to know. I actually remembered to go in and deactivate it before wiping it though. Guy at Game Stop did the factory reset twice as well and opened it up to make sure I didn't leave a memory card in it.

For those looking to buy a Slim after trading theirs in.

Here I can buy Amazon Kindle cards so I ordered a new PS Vita from Amazon for $167.99. Cheaper then buying it new at Games Stop. Will be here tomorrow (prime).

Still showing $80 on the Game Stop app as of now.

Yo Mild, how terrilbe was it to get the Peggle 2 plat? I'm sure you've talked about it in here before but I can't remember.
pretty easy. just finish all the levels first and don't even mess with the goals in that first run unless it doesn't take extra effort. You'll have to play through most levels a second time anyways.

Really looking forward to NOT needing a special OG Vita charge cable anymore.  My cell phone charger at work or home will charge it the Vita 1000.  However half the time at work I forget to switch the cable.  So I think I am charging my phone or Vita but I am not.  Now I can just leave the micro USB cable connected all the time.

Speaking of rousing Vita talk, I don't suppose anyone here would have interest in a gently used Slim Vita? Thinking of getting rid of mine from last summer.

I just traded in a couple of Galaxy S3s at Amazon. It let me choose Acceptable condition, then on the print page it said it no longer accepts them at that quality level. Still let me print the ticket with no issues. Very odd. I've got the phones set to be sent back if they won't accept them, but has anybody seen that before? If so, did they take the items or not?  :whistle2:k

You still have an og vita or something? Slim vita uses any old micro USB cable
To trade in the OG Vita to Gamestop, I need to include the USB cable, but that will render my two Vita Portable Chargers useless. The Slim Vita that I'm upgrading to already has a microUSB cable (it was basically a dinger from Amazon Warehouse Deals so everything was included), so I'm not worried about that. I would just prefer to get more use out of those chargers--not necessarily to charge the Slim Vita since they can charge other things--rather than sell/trade them for a pitiful amount.

I think I need to cancel this Vue trial soon. I'm watching too much stupid TV. Watched HGTV shows last night about buying tiny houses. Some family with 4 kids allegedly shopped for, bought and lived in a tiny house and they and the kids love it. No way that's real. Anyway, the next MD games is on CBS so I won't need it for that.
