PSNOT 3.0 - Let's Talk About University of Kentucky, Baby!

You people have amazing faith in consistent reviews. Uncharted 3 is like a 95 or something on metacritic, apparently one of the best games ever, yet everybody who's played it seems to think it's relatively weak. Why doesn't that make you more skeptical of reviews that are consistent instead of skeptical of the ones that go against the grain?

Shitty-ass Jak 2 had an 87. 50 would have been generous.

I'm only skeptical of reviews like that if I end up not liking the game as much when I play it (Life Is Strange being the most recent example for me--I'm still baffled that some called that their GotY for 2015).

Played some more Ratchet last night and got to that part that infuriated me on the Vita, outrunning the rising water. But I did it on the 2nd try. Did they make it easier in the new version or do I only now have skillz??? Also, this game seems to pretty much be identical to what I remember of the original game on the Vita. I thought it was going to be more of a new game. It's pretty good but nothing great. Probably would help to have nostalgia for the original, but I don't.
It wasn't very difficult in the Vita version either. It took me a few times because the controls weren't tight on the Vita version but as long as you don't fall off any of the mini-platforms or ledges it's just a straight run through.

Played a good chunk of Uncharted 3 last night in my rush to finish it off before I play 4, but I only cleared like two chapters.  I don't know if it's just because of all the dying because of playing on Crushing or what, but I feel like I'm not making any progress.  Still about 9 1/2 chapters left to go.

I did install the UC4 update/patch at least, so I may try out the MP tonight before I finish UC3.

Uncharted 3's biggest issue is that Uncharted 2 exists. It still has a lot of good things going for it that make it review well. Polygon has numerous instances of them reviewing a game way below what the "consistent" reviews scored it. Having played a lot of those games I've always fallen on the "consistent" side in what I'd rate it instead of Polygon's.

I think for UC3 it was more of a too much hype thing, I didnt play through it completely until the UCC, i played uc1 and uc2 on the ps3. I think the issue with uc3 (which i liked) was that it wasnt as good as uc2 and so that skewed a lot of peoples view on it.

But yea, I hardly ever read reviews at this point. Well unless its on IA of course, those are always spot on.

Yeah, I feel like UC3 gets knocked a lot for that exact reason. On its own I think it's still a pretty solid game but it just couldn't follow up 2's gameplay the same way at all.

Mystery Chronicle: One Way Heroics coming to PS4/PSV with cross-buy this year. It's a roguelike RPG that forces the screen to move and if you fall behind you die. It's an impediment to fully exploring the map, apparently. Not sure if that's really a bonus, but it's kinda unique and adds an interesting time limit mechanic to a genre that doesn't normally have that.

Something wrong with your hearing?
I wasnt kidding that I really did puncture my ear drum. I can hear air flowing out when I hold my nose and blow. I can still hear but its muted. Feels like I have cotton or something stuffed in my ear. It hurt like hell when I first did it, but it hasnt since thankfully so I guess I can wait a week. Reading about it I need to keep water out of my ear so I have to wear earplugs or something when I take a shower. I couldnt swim with my daughter yesterday because of it. Although I did try to just lounge in the pool and then I got chlorine in it. That didnt feel good at all. Gotta keep water out due to infection. It didnt bleed either which is weird?

That looks intriguing. I'm glad it's heading to Vita because it looks perfect for on-the-go play.

I would bet 1,000 US American dollars that people who say shit like "I wish that game was on Vita. It looks like a great game to play on the go" are sitting on their fucking couch 99% of the time they play their Vita.

UC3 was awesome, I played a bit in 3D...that was cool. Everyone complains too much. Watching that Bautista clip...he almost made a fist by the time he was already getting hit. At least it was a push to hit. Not a push push shove shove nonsense like most of these turn out to be.

Guilty. But I can also get up, wander wherever, don't have to take up the TV, take it to family gatherings, pause whenever. Etc. I get it, a lot of people don't like portable gaming for whatever reason. I tend to vastly prefer it though.

I never play my Vita at home. Ok maybe 1% of the time. It's kind of why it drives me nuts when people complain about awesome handheld games like Uncharted GA. I'm like shit I used to play some shitty ass shit in monochrome greys thinking it was great.

Now I have a goddamn PS2\PS3 level handheld in my hands that I can play anywhere and the dumb shits on the couch are saying PS4 is so much better, they should make it more like that! Screw OFF!

Mostly at home, but I do play it out and about when I have time to kill, like when I take the car in for maintenance. Also at home, like Sage says you can play it when the TVs in use or just take it wherever in the house. Last Friday I took it with me to the "cell phone lot" at BWI while waiting for my wife's flight to come in.

I also play mostly at home or at work. At home it's mostly turn-based crap while watching TV so I don't have to pay much attention, but sometimes it's action stuff if the wife has the PS4 display tied up and I'd rather play Vita than PS3. At work it's whatever I feel like.

I drive myself when commuting so there's no real possibility of travel play. I've gone on one trip involving planes since Vita came out and I did play it then, but that's hardly representative of my normal circumstances. If I were somebody that took the bus or a train daily then it would be fantastic. That's not really a typical scenario for many Americans, though, which I expect is part of why the system isn't as strong here as it is in Japan.

I play my vita mostly at work at lunch time.  That is why I like simpler games that are easy to pick after not playing for days or maybe even a week.

I did finish one of the Lego games while sitting on my couch at home but most of it I played at lunchtime at work.

I always take mine with me on airport pickup trips. No matter how late I seem to leave, the plane is always later.

The little bit of traveling I do for work I rather take my 2DS. Worried I will lose or drop the Vita. If I lose the 2DS I wouldn't be too upset (it was only $70 and I don't use it much anyway).

I did pick up MK7 for cheap so now I have that on there to play.

My Vita has been invaluable when I took the bus/train to work everyday.  Got lots of time in on those 45/90 minute each way trips.  I haven't been taking it a lot since I got the new job because of different schedules and bus figuring out, but I'm gonna start getting back into it again.

And I'm surprised no one has mentioned the bathroom factor yet.  And don't lie and say you don't play your Vita on the toilet, because we all know you do.

Shadow of the Beast review update: Ten reviews on Metacritic, 61 average

Polygon and something called Lazy Gamer dropping the average a lot. Without those it's at 73, which is more in line with all those 7/8 reviews I linked earlier. Still, $20 is a bit steep for a remake that's digital-only. Unless it gets a surprise PS+ release sale I can't see myself jumping in on in right away.

...seriously, though, not once. I'll read on my phone but that's about it.

Of COURSE I play the viter on the shitter.

Mostly at home when tv is tied up right now (changes in june thank god) and some at work if I bring lunch.

Not once. Too freaked out about dropping it on the tile floor.
I've dropped mine a few times in the bathroom, but no damage was taken. Just be careful. There's no better feeling than earning trophies while dropping some kids off at the pool. Even more fun when it's via remote play PS4 stylings.

For me, the Vita has replaced the PS3 for gaming. (And because of that I haven't felt the pull of a PS4)

I don't really have the energy to stay up past when the kid falls asleep at 11 and play ps3 for another hour or so. It's much easier to just lay on the couch and play vita while everyone else is watching TV.

The suspend feature is a lifesaver as well.

Oh I have done that (just on PS3 or PS4). My downstairs bathroom has a very good view of TV with the door open. I just dont take the Vita in there.

You let you kids stay up too late. Make them go to bed at 6 PM.

I was following a YT video, trying to get the 4% run trophy in Shadow Complex. I was about 1/3 into the playthrough, and the guy just adds in a throwaway line, "Oh yeah, you need infinite foam to do this." Well, you don't get that until you're at level 30, while I'm still at 22, so I just wasted a bunch of time.

I think one time I took the Vita in to the bathroom. I haven't otherwise in large part because our little house has one bathroom and we are 4 people. If I'm seen taking a Vita into the bathroom there will be hell to pay. I have dropped my Vita, though, and it's a pretty sturdy device. No harm done.

Wow, only 2 people on psnp have completed it so far. 442 game owners and average completion at 16%. That's much lower than I'd expect. Very little psnp and pst.org forum traffic, too.
