PSNOT 3.0 - Let's Talk About University of Kentucky, Baby!

Gamestop has a 4-for-$40 starting today on select used games:

That list is pretty bad considering a lot of those were in the previous 4-for-$10 and 4-for-$20 promos (IIRC), but there are a few highlights (e.g., CoD: AW for PS4, Transformers: Fall of Cybertron for PS3).
This would be a pretty good list at 4-for-$20. No way at $40, though.

The ps3 is such a turd.

Never played acension and had it from plus I guess, so went to download it over night. Only DL 14gb of like 35gb. I think it just kinda timed out as I paused and unpaused it this morning and it seemed to start working.

Trying to use the store on that thing is a nightmare as well.

I dont know how zimm puts up with it.

Kilik, are you sure Ricky asked Mel about sugar tits?  I dont know if thats been corroborated. 10 times.

I went looking for some Arc the Lad footage since I know nothing about the games. Here's some gameplay. Skipped around a bit but I guess the first fight is around the 5m mark:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f20za5GXSrA

This is filmed on PC via PCSX2 with the game running at 1080p, so it should be fairly close to what we see from the PS4 version. It seems really slow even for a sRPG. Seems a surprising choice for one of the first PS2->PS4 games as it doesn't seem to have aged all that well from a visual or gameplay perspective. Maybe somebody who played the PS2 game can weigh in on whether this one is worth looking at.
I remember enjoying it. The story has you playing from both viewpoints of Kharg and Darc, brothers who are half human and half Deimos. One was raised by humans and views the Deimos as evil and the other was raised by Deimos and wants to destroy the humans for the protection of the Deimos.

Perfect timing for those of us playing Diablo 3--the next patch (2.4) will bring "loads of new content" and will be released by 1/15: http://www.destructoid.com/new-patch-for-diablo-3-brings-loads-of-new-content-333321.phtml
This is cool, I didn't realize it was still worked on regularly.

I read the patch notes and I mostly have no idea what a lot of it is about, but this is too bad since it is really handy as an early level dps megaboost (those fallen lunatics do an absurd amount of tiny area aoe damage). fortunately I had one drop on my hardcore character this morning so I'm good to go.

Nagelring

  • Level required for this to drop has been raised from 11 to 40

Huh, maybe I should hold off on installing the patch until I can get that ring for my Hardcore character.

Good reads people, The man in high castle is on kindle unlimited if you haven't used the trial for that. Pretty easy way to get it if your library doesn't have it in.

I'm going to need to get a library card now.

Listening to my Ziggy Stardust record makes me wonder why I don't have any more of his discography. Anyone have any Bowie suggestions for me?

Couple strange games coming to PS4 in the next few weeks.

Albedo: Eyes from Outer Space (1/19)

AIPD (1/29)

Also a new mecha game is going up on IndieGogo, PS4 is one of its target consoles.

Spotify has a pretty big playlist that seems to span his career. Can listen for free (with ads) on shuffle on mobile if you're not a premium subscriber.

I'm listening to his latest album right now on Spotify, then I'll go back to that. New album is pretty good, especially considering how sick he must have felt when they were making it.

Or you know... Just play the game and stop worrying about every patch/update/future release is going to bring.
So has Destiny stabilized at all yet or is it still constantly buffing and nerfing weapons and such?

Also has anybody watched Mr. Robot? I'd heard the name but just looked into it a bit since it won something last night. Kind of interested in checking it out. Haven't seen Slater in anything since the unfortunately short-lived My Own Worst Enemy got the axe.

I watched the first two episodes online soon after it premiered and really liked them. I decided to wait for the full season to release so I could binge-watch the rest.

Not sure, I haven't played destiny in a while. But even when I did, I never let future updates or patches scare me away from playing the game.

Albedo doesn't speak to me, but AIPD looks like it has a bit of a geometry wars flare and that mech game is apparently a tactical / turn based game and looks kinda cool at first glance. I'm totally done with crowdfunding though. speaking of which, have we already laid odds on when mighty no 9's new delay announcement will be?

Yeah they had that convo on the radio this morning. They had the audio of what he said. There was probably more, but Ricky asked Mel what Sugar Tits meant. Mel said he didnt know and it wasnt him who said it bla bla bla. Introducing Mel and also introducing Matt Damon and talking about The Martian being a comedy were classic.

But seriously, the Goden Globe allowing The Martian and other movies to be a comedy is a joke. I can never take any movie marketing seriously ever again when they say someone won a GG. If you can make a drama a comedy just to win one it isnt that hard to get! I had no idea they did this.
It started off like chatting up the uglier sister in order to get close to the girl you really want (the Oscar), by raising your profile. Like a Hollywood primary, win or get nominated at the globes and that upped your chances of being nominated/winning an Oscar. But then somewhere along the way after the annual courting, in typical Hollywood fashion, they began to buy into the delusion that a GG means anything.

That line by Ricky and Denzel that I saw on highlights is pretty much dead on, performances being relatively equal, whoever showers the voters with the most attention / gifts or whoever the voters want to meet, wins the award. If they have to subvert the nominating category in order to do it, they don't care.

AIPD looks and sounds awesome.  Thumping music to go with twin stick shooting?  yes please.  But local co op...blech.  they better not tie trohies to local co op like Geo Wars did.  Double blech.

That Albedo game looks and sounds pretty cool too.  If its not too much of a puzzler I would think about getting it.

When it comes to music I try to see all artist I love to listen to live. The last artist I saw on stage that died was Lou Reed who performed with the Gorillaz. Even though it was only one song it was complete magic on the stage. The Gorillaz blew me away live but when Lou Reed came out it change everything.

Speaking of man in the high castle, after watching the show, I started the book and only made it part way through, it wasnt a very good read to me, just couldnt get into it. I think watching the show first made me not like the book, wish I would have read the book first.

I watched the first few episodes and it seemed eerily reminiscent of a certain movie (which I will not name to minimize the chance of spoilers). I assumed it was going to follow the same trajectory as nothing I had seem in the first few episodes dissuaded me from that assumption so I didn't bother watching any more of it.

ok shoot straight with me fellas - is infamous 2 actually worth playing if I've already played infamous 1 and I'm trying to be done with the ps3?  I understand that it's probably better than the first one in every possible way but I have to assume it follows the same formula.  is the ps4 one really that much worse or is it a reasonable alternative even if inferior?

I loved Infamous 2. It was way ahead of Infamous 1 graphically. But that was at release. The story isnt as cool and the gameplay is basically the same.

I would want you to play it but playing PS4 Infamous is just as good really. I enjoyed it a lot too. And of course the graphics are even better. I didnt find the story that bad either. It wasnt great though. Play it.

I thought Infamous 2 was better than Second Son (and the best in the series), but not to a significant degree. It's also easier/faster to plat Second Son if that matters.

If you care about the story at all, though, Infamous 2 is worth playing.

Infamous 2 is the best one in the series, IMO. That is one of a small list of games I would say is definitely worth playing before you move on.

It has a larger variety of powers and enemy types which is nice, but I liked the grittier and more hopeless atmosphere of the first game. Though the user created mission that auto-collects all the blast shards for you in 10-15 minutes lowers the collectables time requirement significantly.

Yeah Infamous 2 is definitely my favorite of the series. I enjoyed it more than I did Second Son.

The issue with the PS4 version is there isn't much to do after you beat the game. Lots less side missions both in terms of variety and number. Which for many isn't a bad thing.

I liked the series and played 1,2 and Festival of Blood as well as SS and First Light.

If you don't care about completion rate Infamous isn't super long if you just play through the story and a few side missions.

As someone else mentioned the collecting the shards nonsense is a lot easier just using one of the user created missions that does it for you. I remember giving up on the shards for years on the first one.

TLDR; Play Infamous 2.

Yes, I missed one in my Infamous 1 playthrough so I had to print out a map and methodically go to each empty shard point and cross it off the map until I found the one I missed, took forever. Thankfully in 2 there is a power which points you in the direction of the nearest blast shard no matter the distance so you don't HAVE to use the auto-collect mission, but its there so why not?

inFamous 2 sucks and shouldn't be played by anyone.

(Just kidding it's awesome.  Just wanted to break up the verbal felatio.  Play it.)
