It reminds me when I went with the Mrs. to see Dave Matthews (not a fan but I like the Busted Stuff album) and James Brown came out on stage and they went into a medley including SexMachine. The place literally erupted and it made my night. I saw James Brown live...sick.

Infamous 1 is the best story wise. First Light and Festival of Blood are tied for best gameplay wise IMO. I'd say Infamous 2 is worth playing, as is Festival of Blood, and I only played 2/FoB a year ago. The graphics aren't the greatest but it's still a lot of fun. Plus the more you play with Cole the more it'll sting when you get to shitty Delsin Rowe in Second Son.

SS has a bad protagonist, poor narrative flow, and is very repetitive. Additionally the powers and world are kind of a pain compared to the earlier games and to First Light because each of Delsin's powers has its own unique transportation mode that's a bit gimmicky and at times inconvenient. Also when you get to it be sure to play the good ending first because the bad is so disgustingly stupid and unsympathetic that you won't want to play more after you knock it out.

I missed either 2 or 3. Printed the maps and ran through it at least once way back when. Found 1 or 2 but still missed at least one. Gave up. I eventually did go back and get it but man that was not even remotely fun.

In 2 I used the auto-collection mission. I didn't even considering doing it the legit way.

I enjoyed Infamous Second Son more than 2 mainly because the gameplay felt so damn good in SS. 2 was awesome though. If they remade 2 with the Gameplay of SS I'd buy it in a heartbeat. I don't hate Delsin as much as most do though. 

SS would have been awesome story wise if they made Cole the bad guy or mentor or something despite his death in 2. Infamous is basically a comic book, they could have found a way. Would have given more weight to Delsin's character too.

 
I fully expect an HD version of Infamous 1 and 2 for PS4 at some point.   If not, fuck those guys I will never buy another Infamous game!

But they definitely should do that.  It seems everyone in PSNOT would buy it.  When its $10 that is.

The biggest problem with SS is that at no point was Delsin slightly sympathetic. There were mechanical issues that were a bit annoying and the repetition was definitely there, but the gameplay was good enough to look past those if not for Delsin's shitty personality. They really dropped the ball with the secondary characters, too, IMO--the way the characters all just appeared and disappeared in turn to introduce them and give you 1-on-1 time for each was just jarring and didn't work well at all.

I'm still really hoping they take the SS engine and do something amazing with it now. If they pulled off something with characters and story the quality of Infamous 1 then that'd be perfect.

 
I enjoyed my playthrough of First Light. I only played a little of Infamous 1 and wasn't crazy about it. I might play 2 and Second Son at some point.

 
Or you could hold off and see if they do an Infamous remastered collection at some point. God of war 3, Uncharted 1-3, Heavy Rain, The Last of Us, Beyond: Two Souls, etc. They're running out of expensive, AAA Sony published, mid-to-late cycle PS3 games to remaster.

 
I thought First Light played quite a bit better than Second Son, the main story mode that is. The challenge mode was kinda dumb.

Not sure why everyone is rushing to be done with their PS3s. It has a lot of problems compared to the PS4 but it's still a pretty competent console with a lot of great games.

 
Hopefully we'll find out this year what Sucker Punch is up to. Nothing's been heard from them since Infamous: First Light came out in 2014 AFAIK. They should be well on their way to releasing their next game. 4 years is the longest they've gone between releases since they started back in 1994, with ~2-3 being the average.

But seriously your not going to get to every game ever made for every console and we already have dozens of good PS4 games to play. I played all the major releases on PS3 that I wanted to play so I was glad to get rid of it.

I actually liked the addition of the challenge mode. It added a decent chunk of gameplay to what was otherwise a very short stand-alone. The FL story was good as well, though, and definitely better than SS. I'd say Festival of Blood was the better expansion but FL had it beat on character and story. Running around with Cole as a vampire wins on fun, though.

I don't think anybody is rushing to dump the PS3, but it's dying off as far as new games go and so it's become more about the backlog than future releases at this point. Between that and the lacking comparison to PS4's UI, responsiveness, and controller the PS3 is feeling more and more like a legacy device.

Yeah Sucker Punch definitely needs to work on their story and characters. It's like when
Fetch shows up, ya think the story was going to take off and it just fell flat. I've yet to play First Light though.
If they could get some more solid writing the sky is the limit for them. Anxious to see what's next for them.

I'd replay a Cole collection in a heartbeat and you're right about now being the time for them to release it. If SP is working on a remaster then I'd expect that'll be the next announcement we see from them. If they included a new mode like playing both games in vampire Cole mode that'd be awesome, too, and a good way to bring a bit of freshness to the port.

It's just that every time someone asks for feedback on old PS3 games, we all always say yes to almost all of them. Why? Because they're good games and should be played, regardless of how old and what console they're on.

Infamous 2 is by a significant margin the best game in the series and should probably be played by anyone who enjoys the series or even the genre.

 
My PS3 isn't as laggy as most of you make it out to be, maybe I'm lucky? It's a 1st gen slim with a 750GB drive. I won't part with it anytime soon. I have a good backlog on it and it's nice having something for the kiddos too.

The only reason I'm trying to finish off most of my PS3 backlog is just that my console is getting a bit of age on it and I don't want to be stuck with lots of games left to play if it does happen to die on me. Other than that I have no problems continuing to play the thing as long as I have games to play on it.

They did a good job of handling the "evil" path in Infamous 2 as well. Actually I never did go back and play Infamous 1 as evil. Was that as good?

So true, I was just thinking the same thing the other day in Gamestop. Looking at the PS3 shelf compared to the PS4 shelf I was like man so much good on the PS3. I'm not PS4 bashing but still some life left for me for sure.

more or less what pharm said. I don't want to be playing it when I'm 50 and I'm just trying to make sure that I play everything that I might want to play on there - I think out of the things I know of I've gotten most of em.

Yeah there are good games for sure. But if your like me and owned a PS3 since release you already played all the big releases you were interested in. If someone like me owned a PS3 for ten years and didnt buy and play a big game they were interested in...were they really that interested in the first place?

So while I think Mild should play Infamous 2 it is so old now it cant be as good as it was when it released. Its still good I am sure but when it released it was one of the best games of that genre. And he has the option to play a game that really is just as good gameplay wise but much prettier on PS4.

I bet it's still great. I've had an amazing time with Force Unleashed, Spiderman Shattered Dimensions, and Eat Them on PS3 over the last few months. PS3 games definitely still hold up.

You just spent time playing all of these on PS3: TWD, Burger Time, Final Fight, Streets of Rage, R-Type, and Labyrinth Legends. Yet somehow you are asking if one of the best games on the system is worth playing.

this is pretty true which would make it virtually pointless to ask in this thread because almost everyone says yes to everything, even if the game maybe isn't that great. 'should be played' is such a weird bar because it's really different for everyone. for example, I'd love to know how many games everyone's played since 12/1 that 'should be played'. if I look through my own list I'd say the answer is maybe 4 which is higher than I would've guessed given the crap I've been playing lately.

(note: I don't mean the above in a passive-aggressive/insulting way at all. it reads weird.)

Nah. The difference between PS4 and PS3 games aren't even that big. It's going to be almost impossible to distinguish between PS10 and PS9 games.

It helps that is uses the same transmission standard as the PS4, HDMI and widescreen ratio. It's not like the jump from the PS1 or 2 to the 3 where it is mostly 4x3, analog transmission, and optimized for CRT televisions. RCA cable transmitted stuff looks even worse on HD televisions compared to CRT (where it can still be pretty bad depending on the art style, but not as bad).

 
I was late to the PS3, I got it when by a fluke... I got the Slim on clearance at a Kmart for $160 when it was still around $300. I still have games on it I really want to play.

I do however want to stay as current as possible on the PS4, it's why I'm not only being selective but playing what I want to play. No one can play everything anymore...it's just the truth in the matter. I mean even people in the industry (reviewers etc.) say how they can't keep up with it all you know something is up. 

If you have nothing but free time and want to play it all to 100% more power to you but realistically I just can't do it. I probably play more games to completion (story wise) than most and I don't even feel hardcore at all next to you guys who platinum the shit out of everything. I could do it, but I feel like I wouldn't get to play as many games that way. It's all a trade off. Just depends on what matters most to you.

5: Saint's Row 4, New Little King's Story, Minecraft Story Mode, Lego Dimensions, and Minecraft

Probably should add in regular Minecraft and call it 5 actually. Just already had all the trophies so it was not in my list.

It was on my list for PS3 actually.

You also have to determine where you want to draw the line on what games to play based on your own personal available gaming time.

When we all answer questions like that, we answer them without being able to consider that.

That being said, even if you only had 5 hours per week to game, I still don't think you (or anyone) would regret using that time on Infamous 2.

Yeah you kinda already addressed this but this isn't like going from PS2 to PS3. PS3 games don't look or play that "old" to me in comparison to PS4 games.

so true. but those are all things that I can be done with in an hour and move on. infamous is more of a commitment. I'd expect it to be like the first one and if I ended up enjoying it / going for the plat it'd probably take me a month or more to finish it up if I played it every morning. All of the games you listed I've played and gotten as done as I'm going to get in the past week (except I'll probably just finish up the stupid twd trophies since it'll take another 30-60 minutes to finish the 1st chapter and that's all I have on ps3).

I can't imagine what I'm signing up for with ni no kuni.

 
Bottom line for Mild:  get rid of PS3.  Its shitty.  Games are still okay but you will never get to all these games so might as well go with the better and easier to use (read MUCH faster) tech.

The above is exaggeration.  But I am not kidding I think Mild should move on.  Just my opinion.

You should seriously just stick to a really long, low tt game. That's my recommendation.

 
I have played 10 or 11 games since the new year and I wouldnt tell anyone that any of them are MUST PLAY.  But I would say if you like blowing shit up, you should play Just Cause, if you like action rpg, you should play Diablo etc.  But all of the games are subjective like anything.  I really enjoyed LA Cops even though most of you would say its crap.  Its just the type of game I like.

Idk if my gf and I are going to keep playing Gauntlet together long enough to beat it. Those exploding demon things keep giving us trouble. I might try to give it a go solo or team up with someone else online.

Sounds like a fun game. Though part of the difficulty is the definition for "must play" also differs depending on your individual tastes. For instance, as a person who is quite a fan of stories done well in video games I will say with a straight face that I consider Hatoful Boyfriend a must play. The only other "must play" I've done since the start of December is probably Red Dead Redemption (though that's a bit of a cheat since 80% of it was played 3 years ago). I liked Rogue Legacy and Lost Dimension quite a lot, but I wouldn't consider them must plays.
