PSNOT 3.0 - Let's Talk About University of Kentucky, Baby!

I predicted the PS Plus announcement pretty much down to the minute, but of course nobody noticed that.

I've never seen A Few Good Men all the way through. I've seen that scene in particular, but now I kind of feel like watching it. Is it on Netflix?

What's speeds do I want for an ethernet switch again? Finally getting around to ordering one.
100Mbit/s is fine unless you are moving large files between computers on your network. Or reasonably think you might get faster Internet service some day and want to be able to max it out.

Most people have 50Mbit/s or less for Internet.

Just gonna use the switch for my PS3 & PS4. That's it.

Hey Tyler, you planning on streaming Gryphon Knight at all before it goes off sale? Kind of curious on the difficulty since the steam reviews keep comparing it to megaman.

The rumored PS4 upgrade (4.5) might have Capcom's Deep Down and God of War 4 as exclusives because of the enhanced GPU: http://gematsu.com/2016/03/rumor-ps4-5-twice-powerful-gpu-new-cpu-deep-down-god-war-4-among-launch-titles

Wren's not going to like this if it turns out to be true...
How stupid. Release one their exclusive Blockbuster titles on a console maybe 1 million people will buy over the next year and ignore 36+ Million PS4 that came out 2-3 years ago.

What the hell are you talking about? Wren would make 10 posts a day about how pretty God of War 4K is.
I didn't say he wouldn't get it, but I doubt he'd be happy throwing down a possible $500 (less if there's a trade-up promo of some kind) just to be able to play that.

It doesn't say those will be exclusive.
Oops, sorry. I'll edit my original post. The link does say that their performance on standard PS4s would be worse:

Developers already have development kits for the new PlayStation 4 and are making games that will directly target and take advantage of its higher specs. These games will work on the current PlayStation 4, but with considerable sacrifices made to performance.

So sounds like basically will be like a lot of the multiplat launch titles like black flag. ran well enough on ps3 but had some enhanced graphics on the ps4.

Still a pretty big slap in the face to everyone who supported ps4 from the beginning.

It's been out for 2 and a half years.....

I'd say all the signs point to this is happening. I'm kind of in a huh, I don't know stage with the whole thing right now but as a Sony Fanboy I'd probably just go ahead and buy one. Does seem like kind of a strange move but:

I thought the whole point of moving to an X86 architecture was so that you could move forward while bringing all the old along for the ride at the same time? That's what this seems to be attempting.

If it launched in Nov. it would be 3 years since the PS4 debuted which seems reasonable to me. Wait too long to release a new console people complain and do it too early and people complain.

Even worse than PCs. At least with PCs you can upgrade one piece at a time and not have to buy a entire new fucking rig just to increase your processing power.
Exactly. I’ll wait to hear any official announcement before fully reacting but the leaks have been coming in for weeks now and GAF has typically broke big news like this in the past ranging from inaccurate to pretty spot on. People also have to remember that the system wouldn’t do any good without a 4K TV and 4K is not widely accepted yet so most homes do not have a 4K set at the moment. This would require an even bigger investment than the PS4K system itself. I’m as big a fan of God of War as anybody so I would personally adopt this sooner than most but as a PS4 gamer, I am highly concerned about these leaks.

Other then Nintendo's New 3DS when was the last time there was a console that came out 2 or 3 years after its predecessor that had better CPU and/or GPU capability and had games that were either exclusive to it or ran noticeably better then the old console from 2 to 3 years ago?

I am not going to worry about it till we have details. If true...

I would have to think most developers will not bother to take advantage of it. It will be like Kinect in that MS will develop some games for it but most 3rd party developers will ignore it. Also sort of like how the cell processor was better but harder to program for and most games looked and played better on 360 vs PS3.

If its like pc gaming, theyd code for the high end and just scale down some for the older hardware, some base experience but prettier graphics on beefier hardware.

IF thats how it works, not terrible, but again still shitty to me do it and not just do the normal console cycle, its not like there is a need or people were clamoring for this. I mean shit, I dont think any next gen only games have really completely used the ps4s full potential yet

I'm gonna be pissed if I have to buy a new console to have the best God of War 4 experience.

Like I said before I don't give a shit if this thing is just for 4k media playback/upscaling games to 4k, but if new games are gonna take a performance hit on my "old" PS4, consider me one pissed off consumer.

Just wondering how many of you have a 4K TV? I don't.

I'll probably literally wait until my TV doesn't turn on anymore to buy a new one and all I have is a 1080p Samsung 40". It's already like living in the stone age.

You mean like Batman Arkham Knight which they never got working well enough even on beefy PCs? Just seems like a stupid idea. it is now a 4th platform for 3rd party developers to have to deal with. They will have to down scale the PC game to one level for PS4.5 and then further for PS4 and XBox One. Or they can say it isn't worth it for the tiny market share (compared to PS4's 36 million and XBox ones 18 Million) and just not bother. Not like it will not play PS4 games just fine.

Maybe for VR or something it might be good but again something else I doubt I will care about any time soon.

Not sure when I will buy a large 4k TV. Even if I do it will probably be in the living room and I am finally starting to use the basement for gaming. Probably just skip any game that runs like crap on the original PS4 or XBox One.

If they had a "trade in your PS4 for a PS4K for $100" promo at launch I'd probably just bite the bullet and get it. If nothing like that is available (and the leak says there won't be a trade in promo) then Sony can fuck off. I'll stick with my PS4 and the games that are properly optimized for PS4.

I don't. And I am semi considering a new TV. MAYBE will be 4k. Good chance it will not. At a 12 foot viewing distance I just don't think anything I can afford (or care to pay for) is going to be large enough to make it worth it. Plus if I get a larger TV it is going in the living room and all my gaming shit will go down in the basement on the 50" plasma that is currently in the living room.
