Why are you guys freaking out about PS4 vs PS4k version performance differences? They do the same thing for multiplat releases of most titles in order to get games to work as well as possible on PC/PS4/PS3/Vita/XB1/360. Sure there are a few games now that do have different content on PS4 versus PS3 (SoM) but that's not the norm.

 
I have a 4k TV and this news sucks. If games suffer performance issues on the current PS4 then this will bite Sony in the ass. They've been kicking ass so far and this could set sales back with a new revision of the PS4.

The problem with Arkham Knight was the exact same problem most ports have; it was handed off to a 3rd-party studio that did a shit job. I would be very surprised if there's much effort at all that a developer needs to do to get a game to work on both PS4 and PS4k. Think of how easy they made Remote Play for developers--it's been a while but IIRC Blizzard said it took them a day to get it working and the controls mapped out well. Sony will probably take a similar approach with the PS4/PS4k issue. I really doubt it would require porting code or require much effort at all for developers to release on both versions comfortably.

The question I have about it is whether we'd see separate versions of games listed on the store. That'd be annoying. OTOH if there's a single download for both versions then we'll see game sizes balloon a bit due to the textures being bumped up to 4k.

 
Vig are you going to play Dark Souls 3 Day 1 or you putting in the backlog? I saw some gameplay on Twitch and this one might be the best in the series. One cool thing is the guy got invaded by the creator Miyazaki and the streamer won the invasion. This one invasion there 2 black phantoms and 1 sun bro and 2 regular players. PvP is going to be insane. The person I watched already mentioned he beat the game and on NG+ also. This was his 3rd build which was a pyromancer.
 
No 4k tv's or monitors in the near future for me. I don't use the TV often enough to justify the cost, and I can't really see myself upgrading to a 4K monitor anytime soon either.  If the new PS4 did manage to have more power and improved/different games than the standard unit, I'd probably just count myself out for whatever games required it. Mostly play indie games anyway and I don't think I need 4k pixel rpgs.

The GS employee said there were three requests for this copy of the game when he got there this morning, but mine was first. He also got a phone call during the day from somebody else who wanted it. Looks like GS is going to sell all their used stock in most locations pretty quick.

But the game sucks. Climbing is a chore. Seems like later in the game all enemies always go instantly Agro (black lives matter), removing one of the few unique elements from the game.

I'd say it's about time to phase out PS3 games from the program. Especially if these are the games we'll be getting from now on.

I'll whine about what I want! This is anticonsumer! Sony is the antichrist! I'm selling my ps2/PS3/ps4/psp/vita and buying a second wiiu! Nothing could possibly go wrong!

I'm at a conference in Long Beach, CA and staying at the Queen Mary Hotel.  I thought it would be a hotel near the famous ship... nope, the hotel is in the fucking ship.  Which is cool for about 10 minutes while you're hunting for your cabin room.  But uncool when the showerhead comes up to your chin, there's no thermostat, only one outlet, the walls are paper thin and there are tours running around everywhere.

But there's an open bar in 20 minutes upstairs so I think I'll deal.

 
And San Andreas (the movie) was fan-fucking-tastic.  Plenty of slow motion Carla Gugino and Alexandra Daddario jiggly running and swimming scenes bookended by lots of shit blowing up and collapsing.  I loved it.  Perfect for flying into LAX as well.

Yeah it's a pain to remember which is which. Left and Port both having four letters is one that I always think I'll recall but it comes up so infrequently that I never do.

Since the retro trailer is in the steam store files, but doesn't appear to supposed be released yet, it's probably from the same batch. Paying people to do Dark Souls 3 trailers in different styles to generate buzz over the next 2 weeks.

LOL, I guess they didn't have anyone that speaks proper English proofread the translation of the Project Root text, the ending text refers to the female lead who had a child as "himself" and "he" in the 1980's movie-esque "where do these characters end up" end tag montage.
