and why the fuck do I know that...

When I was a kid we use to have fights at night in the woods with foam covered weapons. It was awesome and probably dangerous. One time a kid got knocked out. It was wiffle bats wrapped in foam and stuff like that. The worst was actually a "rock" which was a tightly bound ball of foam. It pretty much felt like a rock when somebody threw it at you.

I have a friend who has a food truck he uses to make his living.  He serves all smoked foods.  There is also a local restaurant that is rather popular and holds a food truck rally location at their place for a large portion of the year.  Since they are a smoked food restaurant, they do not allow my friend's food truck to come to the rally.  I can understand that because it is their property.  It sucks for him but I get why they do not allow it.

On top of that, they have used their influence to get the city to drag their feet on permits for him and he had to work around it by using space from other businesses.  He has done pretty well even with the road blocks this place helped put in his way.

One of the people in my office who got laid off in the merger is having a going away lunch at this place next week.  Am I going a bit overboard by not going because I do not want to support the restaurant?

Not sure what a food truck rally is but, I can understand not wanting to support a business that you feel screwed over your friends business.

Are you good friends with the person getting laid off? Will you likely keep in touch after? Will your boss care if you skipped it?

Personally I would probably skip it if I could without any negative impact. I skip most of the 3pm cake for the those leaving.

Today there is a woman I like (and she is pretty hot) who is leaving. So far haven't heard anything about cake for her. Part of why I hate these things is they don't always do them. Seems you have to be in the popular club. A month ago another guy I liked left. No cake for him either.

I'm taking a training course all next week and they sprung on us this week that I need to have a Windows laptop, a requirement that hadn't been mentioned before. I have a Mac, so in a panic I did all the paperwork and other stuff in order to get a loaner laptop. Then today - TODAY - they sprung another one on us: we need to have admin rights. I don't have admin rights on this laptop and getting it on such short notice is probably impossible.

One of our kids has that shitty Dell that's slow and has a cracked screen and Windows 10, so I'm going to take that, but they said the laptop had to have XP through 8, not 10. I did inquire about that and they said they haven't tested it but they think others have used Win10 without incident, so hopefully it's not a problem. What a cluster fuck, though. And this course is expensive. Seems like they should provide computers to use at the price they're asking.

Though I might buy an OEM copy of Windows 7 and install it on my wife's MacBook. That would probably work best. They did say that worked.

Any IT training I have taken where I travel to it they ALWAYS provide the equipment. Luckily more and more I can do it remotely and don't have to travel into NYC or out to NJ.

Crazy they wouldn't provide equipment or system requirements in advance.

Food truck rally is where they bring in a ton of different food trucks in one location so you can bring your entire family and everyone should be able to find something they like.

I like the guy well enough.  We mainly only ever talked because he is also a Gator fan.  He was the high ranking guy in this office before the latest merger.  He only moved to this office after the previous merger.

I will not keep in touch.  My boss is in Massachusetts and would never know or give a shit if he did.

Sounds like you are going to be too busy to get away you know with the merger and your additional job responsibilities.

Seems petty they would block a food truck to a rally now that you explain it. If I want to sit down and have a nice dinner with my wife I am likely to go to the restaurant. If I have an hour for lunch and the truck pulls up outside I will likely buy from them vs dealing with delivery or take out. Maybe the the restaurant should work on their food if they are that worried about losing any substantial amount of business to a food truck. And yes I get that food trucks are serious business and many provide great food. Just seems like for the most part they address different needs.

We only have one roach coach here that stops at the business next door. I assume I could buy from them but don't think they are anything special so never have. They seem to come late morning anyway.

Well at least I got a 2 hour lunch and havent done any real work since 10am.  But having to pay for all the alcohol while Zimm gets it for free is really annoying.

That Frisky dude is a bitch, I asked a question one time when I first started posting on this forum on the PSN deals thread and he gave me a smarmy as fuck answer for literally no reason. fuck that dude.

I finally managed to watch that video of Kevin Smith talking about Prince, and I didn't expect to like it this much. Thanks for posting it, Gator.

Wow that list is awesome. No shitty icons for all the games clogging up the screen. Just the name of the game, the date of the discount, and the price. I didn't know a list like that existed on the PS Prices site.
Someone should start a new thread over in the deal forum.

Not sure what happened to the flash sale thread that was here before but just check this site for the deals.

Lulz. Frisky deleted his thread once I pointed out he was wrong.
I didn't realize OPs could delete (well, "hide") their threads now. Before all you could do is close it and ask a mod to delete it or slowly let it fall off the front page.

So I could just hide this thread and confuse everyone. That would be pretty funny.

1st team eliminated from the NHL playoffs was the Red Wings. Glorious. 2nd team out was almost the Blackhawks, that would have been too perfect! Hopefully the Blues can get 'em tomorrow.
