PSNOT 3.0 - Let's Talk About University of Kentucky, Baby!

I tried to start watching Game of Thrones from season 1 the other day. I didnt get very far into the first episode though as I was watching it from my friends server and it was terrible quality. Im waiting for him to upload an HD version.
Tell him to get on it! My roommate and I started watching season 1 last week since he's never seen the show before. He wasn't digging it at first since it starts slow but we're in episode 7 now and big things are finally happening so he's getting into it. I can't wait to see his reaction to things to come. His jaw dropped when
Dany's brother finally got his crown.

I'm enjoying rewatching the episodes since I binge watched them the first time and probably missed certain things. Now I'm picking up on certain details and some foreshadowing of things to come.

Comic Con was awesome. We went as the Planeteers Friday, Mario Sports Saturday, and Pokemon Trainers on Sunday. Only a couple instances of socially maladjusted nerds who wouldn't just take their pictures and leave. Cute as fuck on Saturday when we ran into an 8 yr old bowser and got to take a group shot with him. Also my dude proposed on sunday, so I guess I'm one step closer to beating up a teen outside of JC Pennys for reality TV.
Congrats! Those costumes sound awesome.

Wasn't there something else big that he hadn't seen? Where'd you dig up such an uncultured ruffian to live with?

Tyler demanded this picture (it's not of a shirtless man):
All the DI figures. ALL!

I don't like the way the Inside Out guy way in the back is staring at me.

Dark Souls III is awesome so far, especially now that I have the Deep Battle Axe from the first real area.
I have about 5 Loyce Souls left to farm before killing the boss (for some reason, compulsion I guess) and then I'll have all 3 crowns. With the crown bonus I'll use that to go through the frigid outskirts with NPC summons everytime and then I'll be done with the DLC.

Wrapped up Aliens, I did enjoy it more than the original. Some dumbass action movie tropes in the end but overall not too bad. Are 3/4/5 even worth watching?

Aliens 5? You mean Prometheus? That's a prequel and yes I recommend watching it. The other two are ehh. The third film got a lot of bad rap so if you are already teetering on the edge of enjoyment, I would just skip them.

I'm sure there are too many to list. He's not normally into fantasy things so he's never seen LOTR. I forgot what else I've mentioned.

He's one of my best friends and is about 5 years younger than me so he's behind on the tv/movie scene. That's where I come in to introduce him to such cool stuff. On the plus side he cooks dinner and lunch for me practically every day (he's a great cook) and likes to clean so I can't complain. ;)

I'm kind of amazed those Nintendo codes were still around after being posted publicly. That really shows how terrible Nintendo's digital presence is, I guess--I've no idea how to use a 3DS code and apparently neither do any of the random lurkers in here.

Where the hell do you see how many you have? Also, when are you doing your first, I want to "help"!
Instead of searching for a 5v5 or 10v10 match there's an option below it to 'search' for an escape run. Each contract is shown with its mystery rewards.

And if you and cleaner are down I'll shoot to try one some night this week. It'd be nice if I could recruit velo to carry us too but I suspect he's moved on after playing it for 20000 straight hours.

I summoned the two NPCs and just ran like heck through the Frigid Outskirts before getting the third crown because I really hated that area. One of the NPCs died along the way, but the one who survived (Head of Vengarl, basically Solaire 2.0) was enough to fight the bosses at the end.

The best way I've found to redeem 3DS codes is to access the Nintendo eShop on the actual 3DS and select Redeem Download Code.

Not sure if anyone got this totally legit message, but looks like I'm getting free PSN money and a free game! Best part is, I gave him my info and he's going to deposit it right into my account!

So apparently 22 people bet on LCFC to win it at 5k to 1.

In a reply to tweet, net 3 million payout from this one bookie, largest ever title payout for them.

Sage and other PSNOTs with interest in Pokemon: I just got the newsletter email from The Pokemon Company containing the download codes for the three mythical birds (subject: "Get the Mythical Pokemon Darkrai in May!").

I heard that Man U has a $500 Million transfer budget.  Just to buy players.  Not to pay their salaries.  Leicester has a $40 Million payroll for salaries.  Probably nothing for transfers/buying players.  This has to be a one off event we will never see again.  Just a bunch of luck that their team came together and had a few guys play out of their minds.

Uncharted 4's trophy list has been leaked: http://www.powerpyx.com/trophies/uncharted-4-a-thiefs-end-trophy-list-revealed.html

No gold trophies in that list, but they may be among the hidden ones. Hopefully the 5 multiplayer trophies aren't too difficult to earn.

EDIT: Someone at PSNP did the math for those trophies if anyone cares:

If people are curious, you can do the math and see that there are only two possibilities for the 17 hidden trophies: They are either

1 gold, 4 silver, and 12 bronze, or

0 gold, 9 silver, and 8 bronze.

The reason for this is that typical retail releases get 1050 trophy points to allocate (excluding the platinum). The non-hidden trophies take up 660 of those points, leaving 390 points for the hidden trophies. A bronze trophy is worth 15 points, a silver is worth 30, and a gold is worth 90. The only combinations of 17 trophies that adds up to 390 points are the ones I listed.

I'm making sloooow progress through it (due to me not having a lot of gaming time) but it's great. Not sure if it is legitimately easier than earlier titles or if I just have the formula down much better, but I haven't run into any serious roadblocks yet. Beat a couple bosses on my first try. Yesterday was my first time losing souls because I didn't make it back to where I died and I'm almost halfway through the game, I think.

As per request, the Kentucky trivia questions from last night (paraphrased of course):

1)  Name the two news-making senators for Kentucky.

2)  What old building has a song about it inspired by Uncle Tom's Cabin?

3)  What river borders Kentucky on the north?

4)  What vehicle, the most popular in America, is made in Kentucky?

5)  What is Colonel H. Sanders' (of KFC fame) first name?

We got three out of five correct, missing #2 & #5.

Not exactly how it works.

Man U can spend that 500 million but they dont have to. In Soccer you buy and sell players instead of trading like in US sports. Also spending a fuck ton on transfers does not always mean you will win the league, man u has spent a lot in the past couple of years after dropping out of the top 4 teams in the league, they are not in the top 4 again this year. Similar to say the yankees in baseball (only us sport without a salary cap) they can spend a shit ton and still not win it all.

LCFC spent a decent amount this offseason and got great return on investment obviously. They will have a LOT more to spend this coming summer/winter. The english league has a new media contract and all the teams will get a lot more money coming in so can spend more on transfers (buying players). On top of this, LCFC gets champions league football which will also boost their income by a good bit.

1) rand paul and mitch mconnell

2) no clue

3) ohio

4) toyota camry

5) Harlan I think?

(looked up sanders, its HarlanD so i was really close, giving that one to me)

My Old Kentucky Home. We guessed Fort Knox against my protests, but I was too busy signing Uncle Tom's Cabin by Warrant to put up much of a fight.
Bah, I thought you meant literal building, paraphrase of question threw me I guess.

Good questions though.

I got it. the point is Man U basically has an unlimited budget and the other team doesnt. Thats hard to compete with. If the NY and LA teams in our US leagues had unlimited budgets the smaller market teams would rarely have a chance.

Well its not techinically unlimited, UEFA financial fair play puts a limit to it, cant spend more than you bring in basically.

but again, man u has spent a shitload of money and and STILL outside the top 4 (huge deal as champions league goes to top 4 and they make a good chunk of money from just being in it).

The yankees basically have an unlimited budget yet the KC royals won the WS last year.

I'm down to try it too. Tonight and Friday are the only nights I don't work late-ish(9pm est) though.

I haven't fired up Stranger of Sword City yet since I've been working through R&C1 and MotoGP 14. How're you liking it?
I'm not too far in, but the first lineage boss perma-killed half my squad twice. Seems like a grind heavy game. Much like demon gaze, it's based on the luck you have pulling gear. The ambush system is neat, the divinities are interesting, and I really like the class changing system. You get to learn the skills of a class, and keep them after you move on to the next. Along with any stat boosts you obtained. Plus your stats don't drop when you change class. It's a grind all the way through though. Something I'm going to chip away at slowly.

Edit: first non tutorial boss, I should say.

There's a forum post on psnp that you might find helpful:

http://psnprofiles.com/forums/topic/36065-stranger-of-sword-city-thoughts-general-info-based-on-xbox-one-version/

Doesn't seem to be a ton of info available about the game so far, but the tip about making the main character 60 was a nice one, I thought, as were the bits about which talents he went with.

I'm down to try it too. Tonight and Friday are the only nights I don't work late-ish(9pm est) though.
We can shoot for tonight, 9PM EDT for anyone that can make it . My mics and everything are all packed to move but basically this is what the game plan would be as I understand it:

- team of 5

- contract owner picks specialists to give bonuses to the capital ship and then the mission starts.

- the map of the ship is at the top of the screen!!! that's the only way to see if a part is being attacked if it's not right in front of you

I think the actual run goes something like this:

Phase 1. you start out in PvE with toughish guardians. the primary goal is to mine as much ore as fast as possible (you have 5 minutes) and build up the ship like a base. so bring speedy ships or raider ships that can hold 2x as much and just grab ore and run away from the guardians.

Phase 2. first PvP round (also 5 minutes long) and most likely round to wipe because your systems/ships are still at a low level, especially if you get dropped in a 10v10 match and everyone wants to bring you down. bring justicars / heavy hitters and stand + defend + heal as much as possible all of the capital ships structures. could switch out to raiders as needed (e.g. warden with the plasma trail) to keep folks back. watch for bulldogs (I think) - the ones with the timer bombs. I was able to nearly solo a low level capital ship with that stupid bomb in 5 minutes, so push the bombs away if you see them no matter what.

Phase 3. back to PvE (5 minutes), speedy mining / leveling. hopefully ship systems are getting up to level 3/4 by now.

Phase 4. second PvP (5 minutes), same strategy w/ heavy hitters etc. ship systems are more capable of taking care of themselves so it's probably ok to venture out a bit to push away aggressive types

Phase 5. last round of PvE (5 minutes), with any luck all ship systems will be repaired and at level 5 by the end of this phase

Phase 6. last round of PvP (5 minutes), hopefully the team is all at level 10/ship systems at level 5 and we get dropped in a 5v5 match that just started where nobody cares

hopefully whoever participates can communicate even if I can't - I could probably use my vita for party chat and annoy my wife with it. I'm definitely happy to use one of my contracts for our test run now that I have a spare. for spending 30 minutes doing this you can get a boatload of awards - I think after every phase you get the usual sorts of rewards/xp (so 6 rounds worth) and if you make it to the end you get elite fancy stuff - paint jobs, portraits, more contracts, etc.
