PSNOT 3.0 - Let's Talk About University of Kentucky, Baby!

Tropheez!!!!!

But really, there are a few reasons. The games are upscaled a bit, they certainly look better than they would if you played them on PS2. The 360 games are going to look the same, and some end up performing worse due to the emulation. New trophy support is actually cool, all the 360 backwards compatible games don't get any new achievements, just the ones they've always had.

I've always said "who the hell cares" about backwards compatibility. My PS3 is hooked up right next to my PS4 and its going to stay there for the foreseeable future. So BC wouldn't really do anything for me anyway. Whereas my PS2 has been put away in a drawer for a long time, and I've have to fish out some dumb AV cables to play them. Plus some of the games being ported are starting to get costly on the used markets. PS2 games also have the advantage of people longing to play them more just because they're one generation older. Sony has done a great job giving us PS2 games that never got PS3 remasters too, focusing on games from that generation that people do really want to play.

The pricing model sucks compared to the X1's free backwards compatibility, no doubt about that. But again, if you already own the 360 games, why the hell don't you play them on your HD ready Xbox 360? The improved PS2 games are just way cooler.
I would have just went with BECAUSE I SAID SO!!!!

Oh, neat. Under 15K on PSNP now.

I shouldn't have any trouble wrapping up Prototype this evening. Finished the story last night, now I'm just grabbing the last two Landmark collectibles, the last eight or so Hint collectibles, and then I need to hunt down another 20 or so of the Web of Intrigue people. Not going to go for the plat--the Hard playthrough would be a pain in the ass, the Platinum medals in the remaining challenges would be a pain in the ass, and the trophy for killing 53,596 infected is just ridiculous. I'm at around 15-20k right now and I've completed almost everything in the game. It's just too much of a grind.

I can definitely see why Prototype isn't viewed as well as Infamous. They came out at the same time and have a similar level of graphics and similar play styles, but Infamous is told much better and has much more developed characters. Prototype has a pretty interesting back story but it doesn't get enough focus and without likable characters to drive it the back story gets a bit lost. Prototype also has 200 Landmark collectibles and 50 Hint collectibles, but unlike Infamous' Blast Shards, the damn things don't show up on a map at all, not even the minimap. Since buildings in Prototype are huge, the game world feels a lot bigger and so finding the things naturally is very difficult. Even with a map that shows where on the island each collectible is you can't always find them since the map is 2d and doesn't zoom in super close, which leaves a ton of vertical space for the collectible to be tucked into a hidden alcove of a skyscraper. The Web of Intrigue people you need to consume to reveal bits and pieces of the Prototype backstory are randomly generated as well, plus there are another 200 or so of them, so that's just an issue of wandering around, waiting for one to spawn, and then consuming the person before an infected or military character kills them.

Despite all the above, the story itself is interesting as I said even though none of the characters are. The gameplay is a lot of fun. I liked the stealth consume aspect where you infiltrate military bases and eat people in order to learn their various weaponry skills. The powerups and devastation moves are varied enough and enjoyable. Hijaking tanks and helicopters is entertaining as well. Travel in the game is pretty decent since you can move so quickly and your dash and glide mechanics are quite fast, plus you can grab a chopper if you want to get all the way to the other side of the island in a hurry. The darkness to the game is nice, too, with the way the sky gradually turns red, the buildings look a bit more organic, and there are infected everywhere as you wander into infected zones.

Fun game and worth the $10 sale price it just had, IMO, but from a completion standpoint it's a bit of a chore. The PS4 port was rock-solid, too; no crashes, framerate issues, or bugs at all that I noticed.

I'll probably get to Prototype 2 before long.

I actually just started Kingdom Hearts this morning. It's ok so far, but nothing is really drawing me in. I don't know if gameplay will get a lot better but right now it's just mashing X to kill things.

There should be a multiplayer shooter where it's teams of Republicans vs Democrats vs Independents and they go around destroying each other in maps based on Washington DC.  It'll be huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge.

It's more involved, kinda. Dodging, blocking, magic. But yeah, lots of hitting X.

Rumors/not sure if credible website confirmations of new Lego Deminsions franchises that are coming in the next round of the game. Supposedly these will all be confirmed later this week.

  • Sonic
  • Harry Potter
  • The Fantastic Beasts & Where To Find Them
  • Adventure Time
  • Ghostbusters Reboot
  • Mission Impossible
  • Teen Titans
  • The Goonies
  • Powerpuff Girls
I would like to give a hearty fuck YEAH to Goonies.

I'd pick up the PowerPuff Girls and Teen Titans even without having the Lego Dimensions game.

Our online training system is terrible.  Half the time you take an online class and complete it the system doesnt recognize the completion so you have to remember to make sure it updates.  And if it doesnt you have to figure out who to tell so they can update it manually somehow.  It all stems from IE and its shitty web browser and the fact the bank is always like 5 iterations behind.  Ugh

My biggest problem with Kingdom Hearts is that it basically reviews well because of the licensing... take away the Disney/SE properties and you have mediocre games that wouldn't have got even a drop of the praise that they did.

Horrible platforming and camera, mediocre combat, nonsensical story... but this is stuff you've all heard me say before so I don't know what my point is.

So exactly why Disney Infinity is terrible. Its a terrible game that no one would play without the Disney characters.

Wow, tennis is hardcore. Maria Sharapova started taking a drug ten years ago due to electrocadiogram results and poor family history of heart issues and diabetes. This year the drug got banned under a different name that she wasn't aware of, so she tested positive and is now banned from tennis for two years even though the International Tennis Federation found that she wasn't aware of the ban.

I didnt know growing marijuana was illegal.

Try telling that to a federal judge and see if you get away with it.  So yeah it doesnt matter if you dont know a substance is banned.  Ignorance is never an excuse.

Plus I hate Sharapova since she has lived here since she was like 2 and has continued to live here meanwhile she says she is Russian and plays for them and not the US for international competitions.

The camera is definitely garbage, really hoping that KH3 improves that. I like kingdom hearts well enough, but the camera in the first game was so bad it gave me headaches. Really enjoyed the psp and gba games though.

Sucks for Sharapova, but at the same time, as a huge professional athlete, who knows they ban different drugs and supplements at all times, and who presumably has a team of people monitoring her health, you really should look at the list of banned shit.

i really enjoyed this gta update, but vip/pacistan heist is still the most efficient and profitable investment. you get 100k/hour with vip. you get about 600k with 100k investment for about 2 hours with pacistan. with this buy/sell update, i just can't get any profit. i spent 90k and earned 250k but that took about 2 hours. and then i spent 135k filling up a medium warehouse, took about 3 hours, and then we failed the sell and all inventory lost. so that's 135k thrown in a hole and i got no return. fun stuff but damn the payout is risky and not worth it compared to previous heist/vip...

OG KH is the worst with the camera. The bullcarp remake of the card game one (I hate that game so much and yet I bought it three times and played it twice, or four times if you count the alternate playthrough that's unlocked after the first time) probably improves it, but I can't remember.

KH 2 is much better in nearly every way. Almost no platforming because every area is kinda flat and boring, but other than that, it's great.

Took the kids to see Angry Birds and TMNT this week.

Angry Birds was decent which was a surprise, but most of the funny moments were in the previews though.

As mpaulin said, Turtles was pretty horrible.  It had it's moments but ultimately is a letdown when compared to the first one (which I actually thought was decent).  This one took a step back in direction and writing, which is a real shame since the action and effects were still really good.  I don't think you could have asked for a better artistic representation of Bebop, Rocksteady, and Krang.  They just needed someone to put together a decent script... some of the lines were pretty cringe worthy and out of character.

And yes, I'm fully aware of my unreasonably high expectations for a turtles movie but they're only that way because of the bar the first one set.

Agreed, but it's recognized for the cash grab that it is. KH has this crazy following though and reviewers place it near the top of the videogame food chain based on their love for the characters, but it's one of those arguments that I know I'm not going to win in here.

I was disappointed when I played it, but it's this rose-colored glasses treatment that really gets under my skin (not necessarily from you all in here, but from the fanbase in general)

It was banned under a different name, though, and she'd been taking it for ten years so it's not like she'd have a new reason to double-check the medicine specifics. It's pretty understandable that she wouldn't have known about it. Even if she looked at the banned list there'd be no reason for her think there was a problem.

I dunno. The news kind of stood out more because of how harsh the punishment was compared to other sports just suspending for a few games for all kinds of much more serious stuff (assault and the like.)

If she was a football or baseball player where they have a team of strength and condition people as well as medical personnel I might buy what you are selling here. I do not think it would be even remotely similar for a professional tennis player.

Who wants to see some high school kid foul a ball off his fruits & veggies, followed by the best reaction to a beanbag strike I've probably ever seen?

She gets paid a lot of money to do what she does, and then you add on a family history of medical issues? Someone is keeping an eye on her fitness and diet.

They could also have the nominees be playable like the heroes in star wars battlefront.

Does Velo now work for Rockstar?

Yeah the Angry Birds movie was alright. Brought the kiddos. Took awhile to get going though.

Absolutely she has doctors worried about her health, but do you think she has a personal doctor in her entourage? I would be surprised. Even if she does, I would not expect them to follow all the latest anti-doping shit that closely. In team sports there is a person where that is their only job. Big difference, IMO.

I am not saying she should not have some punishment because I get negligence isn't an excuse. However, when it is obvious it was a case like this where she had been on something for 10 years and it was added under a different name, it just seems ridiculous.

Its obvious that Sharapova is being singled out because of her loud and obnoxious grunting when she hits the ball.

I know, right? She needs to be more ladylike about it.

Did anybody in here play Volume? There's a VR expansion coming for it. Looks pretty terrible watching it in 2d on YT, though.

Too bad those people in the low income apartments dont pay their fair share like you have to pay. Too bad you made something of yourself, otherwise youd get to have dirt cheap rent just like them.
Yeah, man, those poor people are living the life. I wish I could be poor. Life would be so much better.

I thought this was interesting in the article about sharapova:

The tribunal's ruling, as long as it's not reversed on appeal, could be worth a lot of money to Sharapova because of the finding that her use wasn't performance-enhancing. When she announced her positive test, her endorsement deals with Nike and Porsche were suspended.

Ok its a banned substance, but if it didnt help her and shes been on it for 10 years, I think youd make an exception or something.

Maybe when it's $20 I'll get it.

Yeah, I do think she has more than a doctor she sees on occasion. I'm not claiming she has anything up to the standards of team sports, but at that level, yeah you at least have a trainer and a dietitian you see on the regular. Yeah it sucks they added it under a different name, but if you're only on the one thing, it shouldn't be that hard to track.

Is she the one that makes that cooing sound every time she hits the ball? If so good riddance I say. Whenever my wife puts on womans tennis (not that often thankfully) and that woman is making the weird noises is on I leave.

Cooing? Sounds like she is having sex on the court to me.
