I just picked up a PSP bundle with Ape Escape and Wipe Out Pure for $150! At Longs Drugs. The bundle was $299.99 and half off. This was a clearance item that was bundled in a big plastic case. I checked 3 Longs in my area and only 1 of 3 had them. It was the last one.

Also they had PS2 slim bundle in a similar case with Gran Turismo 3 and Jak 3 and an extra Sony controller. It was marked at $189.99 but was on sale for $95.

I think this is a BIG TIME YMMV. I'm not sure which states have Longs, mods might move this to regional.

Update: You should check the Camera dept and there should be a cardboard stand with a PSP and PS2 bundles but they are for display only. The sign said "last chance 50% off" also it said "til 5-31"(?) whatever that means.

Also the bundles are apparently in a safe somewhere in the store. Have them check. One manager told me they were sold out of PS2. I told him to check in the back because an employee told me they had 4-6 bundles left. The 2 games with the bundle, I think vary. Mine came with Twisted Metal Black and Sly 2.

My PSP had firmware version 2.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who got this deal. Good luck hunting.

I might have one PS2 bundle for sale if my friend turns it down, but I think shipping would kill it.

I thought the same thing as far as the PS2 bundle. Thought if I had the chance I would hit up a couple more Longs today looking for one for a fellow CAG but after you factored in shipping for the big bundle and paypal fees, it would pretty much kill the savings.
I went to my Longs here in bakersfield and got the psp bundle with hot shots golf open tee and medievil resurrection. there are like 5 longs here in bakersfield. i went to two, the first said there wasn't a sale and the second had just sold out of them as i walked in. I called the first one and the manager said he was sorry for not checking the price first. i had a psp before and sold it and regretted it, so this is why I jumped on this deal fast.
Crap! A new CAG here in Bako. Looks like he beat me to the PSP bundle. Oh well, that's what I get for slacking off.

lawdood I live in sacramento too could you tell me what Longs store still had the PSP's in stock? I just bought the entertainment pack for $250 which came with a free $25 gift card from target on black friday but if I can find this bundle I'm going to take it back.
wait a minute....longs sells ps2/psp? lol
that is my reation. I have a longs drug store that is literally a block and a half from where i live, i will ask but i will just get blank stares from the customer service, they might even ask "what is a psp?" heh. It will be worth asking for the comedy potential alone

Thanks OP!!!! Got two PSP bundles at Costa Mesa Longs in Cali. I just got home... When I left they still had two more bundles there. Also, the Redondo Beach Longs also has two left. Definitely call before you go if you are in those two areas.

I'm not very familiar with the versions and their "hackability". Are these bundles from Long's hackable to emulate games and the like? Thanks in advance for any answers.

So everyone getting these arent finding them in the small electronics section? I browsed my longs and didnt seem to find anything. Maybe ill go back tomorrow and ask.

Go to the camera counter, that's where every display I've seen is either at or near.

The Long's I went to only had one in the glass counter where the digicams are located. I had to ask the manager and he told me there were 3 more back inside the storeroom.

Thank you so much lawdood! :bouncy:
Went to local Longs in SD and picked up a PS2 bundle (according to the store they ran out of PSP months back.) This should allow me to replace my dying PS2 (from the initial launch) until Wii is more widely available. ;)

Ok, my wife picked up the last one in Stockton, CA. I grabbed one, took it home and the wife fell in love with it. She woke up at 5:30 and was waiting outside of Longs to pick up the last one for herself. The cool thing is each of our bundles had different games in it, so we have four different games.

If anyone is willing to pick up a PSP for a fellow CAG (me :D), I'm willing to pay $180 (I figure $168 for PSP and $12 for shipping), and I'll throw in a sealed Game Boy Micro for your troubles. If and only if the PSP is the Value Pack and you can confirm which firmware it is (I will give instructions on how to recognize firmware from looking at the outside of the box).

Kendro, I know the Longs nearest me is out of them (I bought the last one), but I can check the one that's a little farther away (5 minutes) to see if they have any.

That's about 40 miles away from where I live so I'll have to check on that this weekend maybe. There was a Longs near me that had some in stock but there were only offering the 50% off on the PS2 pack and not for the PSPs which sucked because I called another Longs and they said all of the stores were supposed to have this deal.

Ask them to scan the PSP bundle, it couldn't hurt. Employees and even managers are pretty clueless about this deal. Good luck hunting!

Definitely have them scan it... The clerk tried telling my wife it was $199.99, but it scanned at $150.

I'd call or go back to that store and ask to speak with the manager. That's b.s...if he gives you any grief just ask him nicely to call that other store and ask them. At least it's worth a try to save yourself a 40 mile trip.

There was some in Redondo Beach and Costa Mesa if you wanna check those. Its like a 40-50 min drive from the SGV area.
Have anyone had any luck pricematching this. The one in glendale Ca and San Gabriel didnt have any.
dammit the one on San Gabriel Blvd? I was planning on checking itout but oh well

yes just ask. mine were sold out but it never hurts to ask

I just picked the last one up from the W. Point Loma (San Diego) store... I just asked if they had any because there were none in the camera or electronics locked displays, *BOOM* manager on duty said they had one in stock  It may be available for the right offer, but not for long...

Just picked one up at the local Long's here in Fort Collins, Co right before close. Had the choice between two different bundles, and I think they probably had a few more left in the back from the sounds of it.

Been searching for one of the older ones that is downgradable for a year now, thanks OP!

The salesclerk called the manager over and he told me that they were only going to have the PS2 bundle 50% off and that the PSP bundle would remain at full price. I was going to go back next week and see if they updated the PSP bundles with the reduced price but I was able to find the bundle at another Longs in my area. By the way thanks to the topic creator for posting this find and thanks lawdood for helping me out aswell.

Awesome.

Which one in fort collins?

Was it the one on drake or lemay?

BTW, awesome to see someone finding it in my area before I head out.

I see everyone excited about the PSP's (I am too) but not any love for the PS2. Is the $95 for the PS2 bundle just meh? I was thinking since the PS3 is out now, that the price on PS2's will start to drop like a rock. Plus the games that come with it aren't exactly hard to find.

I for one am hoping to find a PSP bundle at the beach this weekend. All the stores here have been cleared out. I'm really hoping for a 1.5

As long as the PSP is a 2.0 or under, it is absolutely easy as pie downgrading it to a 1.5. I'm also pretty sure that people feel "meh" about the PS2 because everyone and their mother has or had one by now.

Good to know. Any word on when the PSx games will be available?

PS1 games are available right now for the PSP. Impressions from some CAGs here.
This is my first PSP...how do I figure out what firmware it has? Does it say somewhere on the box?
lawdood, it should be stated in your system settings.

Wow, that seems really weird. You can't play the PS1 games on your PS3, but you have to have a PS3 to get the games to your PSP. I know it's the early stages, but geeesh!

Also, it looks as though to play the PS1 games on your PSP you have to update the firmware (I'm assuming past the point of no return) then you wouldn't be able to use homebrew or roms. :bomb:

Hey, guys. I picked up two of these (one that I decided to eBay and one to send Kendro), but eBay took down the one I was going to sell because apparently I was encouraging illicit activities (w/e). I'd ask for 180 for me to send it to you (system cost for me + shipping) + a little extra, so if you'd like more info, you can just PM me.
Any Los Angeles people score any?
I went to Covina, Whittier and West Covina. They all sold through this display last x-mas.

Went to the one on Lemay, good luck!

Yes there is! I decided to try one more store near me, and I found one. It has Twisted Metal and NBA 06

It's also 1.52!!

I am very happy. They didn't have anymore, but there were bundles with Wipeout/ATV before they sold out.

I wonder if its safe to assume that all medievil/ape escape bundles are 1.52?
