PSP Slim Redesign
You didn't play the right games. Go play Megaman Powered Up and you WILL see the ghosting.
I have Mega Man Powered Up and never saw any ghosting. I just think people need to get their eyes examined. ;) :p
Anyone know how accruate CAGWiki is for the PSP trade-in values? It has the PSP for 80 and 1 gig stick for 20; if true, with the Edge card, I'll only have to pay 90 bucks for the Daxter pack.
Just look at the date for the game/system you're interested in. The more recent it is, the more likely it is to be accurate.

In the case of the PSP, I realized I hadn't updated it when I sold mine. It's updated now, and as of July 27th, they give you $60 (the $80 figure was from a year ago).
but not that good of a return policy compared to sams or costco...:whistle2:k

edit: mess up on the header lol
If it's defective out of the box I'm sure they'll take it back-and otherwise, why do you need a return policy on it beyond that?
You didn't play the right games. Go play Megaman Powered Up and you WILL see the ghosting.
It's got ghosting, and I'd like a faster screen, but it's never lessoned my enjoyment of games. I'm kind of surprised they haven't dropped a faster screen in there yet-but it's probably one of the most expensive components in it, and they're trying to compete on price with the much cheaper to produce DS.

what's taking EB so long? They want to probably do it last minute do to moving out the old models so that nobody holds and and waits. They don't want a large inventory of old models to have to sell over again.

...says the kid with Sony blinders on

I'm still tempted to get the Star Wars bundle, but only if Gamecrazy gets it so I can burn cheap credit on it. No way I pay over $100 of real money for (another) PSP. Plus then I'll have to decide what to do with my currently unused fat PSP.

sell your current PSP or trade it in. It should net you enough to roughly pay under $100 for the new psp.

Oh Gamestop, why must you deny me a preorder when I have so much credit. :[

I have ten PSP games already, so I think I'll cry if I don't get one of these when they come out.

Damn...just like me!!! Actually I currently have six and three more on the way. WHat games do you have?

Yeah, I've got 8 and two in the mail. I have Wipeout, the 2 Lumines, Virtua Tennis, Gitaroo Man, the 2 Megamans, Katamari, Tekken DR, and Exit.

I have two copies of Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth (one as a collectors), Exit, Hot Shots Golf, Initial D, Monster Hunter Freedom and PQ. Waiting on Jeanne D Arc and Monster Hunter Freedom 2. I want to get Loco Roco, PQ2 and Crush but I'm waiting for a price drop. Might buy Megaman if I can find them for under $10.

I hope SE ports Vagrant Story to the PSP. One of my all time favorite rpg's. Would it be possible to play home brew on the new PSP's? It would be awesome if we could play the old school SNES, Genesis, TG16, NES, SMS games w/o having to hack the firmware.

Ummm I'm not one to agree with mana knight often but I played the crap out of megaman powered up and never saw any ghosting either so maybe you got a bad unit? Oh by the way my fiancee just picked up a new PSP recently and the Dpad and buttons are fixed on the newer revisions on the handheld so its not just the slim that has better buttons but the current revision of the fat as well. I was able to even pull off zangeifs 360 pile driver with the dpad not modified last night :).

I didn't have an issue with my pad or buttons on my launch Playstation Portable.

Though I wouldn't be able to do Zangief's pile driver regardless, since I can barley do it if I'm trying in practice mode :D

heh I was able to get it about 50% of the time in practice last night which was an improvement for me since before then it was 0%. Now if I could just get a few more good rpgs like brave story on the thing it would do more than play MP3's most the time -_-.

*makes note to pick up ratchet and clank and metal gear portable ops*

:whistle2:/

Anyway. So the trade in value is $60? I better get my old one sold off to my local comic book shop for $75 in cash! Woot Woot!
Ummm I'm not one to agree with mana knight often but I played the crap out of megaman powered up and never saw any ghosting either so maybe you got a bad unit?
WTF? I never said a word about ghosting. I don't play my PSP enough to notice whether there is ghosting or not . I was just commenting on Mana Knight saying people needed their eyes examined when he only has eyes for Sony products ;).
Got to mess with the PSP slim for awhile last week... it feels REALLY nice...
Sweet, I hope they replace demo units with the slim.

I have to test it out first.
I want a colored one from Japan.
Oh hai! The FF VII one! Preorder from NCSX!

http://www.ncsx.com/2007/081307/ncs0813u.htm

Wow is that pricy. If I was a FF VII fan I'd be tempted but I'd much rather have any of the US-bound ones at less than half the price.
Dang, that is cool. Why on Earth don't they sell that here? That looks so much cooler than any of the ones we're getting...but what else is new.

At least give us a white one! I guess I'm stuck buying black, again. BOOOOORING! And if I do cave and get black, they'd better not release a better color later.

Hmm... I could get the FFVII one if I add in some $$$ from my next paycheck...

But I could just as easily use that to close the gap keeping me from owning every last RPG released on PSP.

I was talking to one of the guys at my local GS and he was saying that his was one of the last stores (if not the last) on Oahu to have any (new) PSPs left in stock. Really sounds like GS is just trying to bleed inventory before opening up PSP Slim pre-orders.

Well, I couldn't wait any more, so I went ahead and pre-ordered @ Amazon. No tax/free shipping works for me. I'll just use my remaining GS credits towards the Halo 3 console and maybe Bioshock LE or Ace Combat 6.

If I don't hear of anything by next week, amazon for me as well.

anybody suppose FYE would have any preorders? Or I guess they can just special order it for me. I gots some credit there to burn.

Sounds like there may be some potential shortages of the PSP-2000 in Japan, or at least, stores taking precautions against shortages:
http://kotaku.com/gaming/one-per-person/upcoming-psp-slim-shortages-in-japan-288635.php

Hardware launches mean one thing: Hardware shortages. This September's PSP Slim launch looks to be no different. Amazon Japan pre-orders for the PSP Slim (PSP-2000CW) have already closed, and the Sofmap in Akihabara is posting signs mentioning that because of shortages, customers can reserve only one PSP Slim. It also seems like they're not letting customers pick which color they want. Also! Sofmap is allowing one 1seg PSP tuner per person. Whenever new hardware launches, I can't help but thinking some of the demand is created through forced shortages. Call me jaded.

I doubt Sony is creating a shortage. The PSP Slim will sell out until next year upon release. ALot of people like me have been holding off on the PSP for the redesign + the good games that are coming out = sell out. Sony never had a problem selling hardware, they had problems selling software. Too easy to hack the original PSP.

Even Nintendo is starting to feel the blow. The big N estimated around 800 million lost in revenue due to software piracy and that number will only increase. This is the reason why Nintendo has such a short supply of Wii's. Their trying to find new ways to alter their hardware to prevent privacy. I believe they already revised their hardware over four times.

Dayum.

Know what though guys... I just hope my PSP 2k is perfect out of box. None of that monkey business from the first launch.

I can't wait to finally pick up a PSP slim. I've been buying PSP games on clearance for the past 2 years and I have a pretty good library. I plan to purchasing mine at Costco if they carry the Silver PSP bundle.

Same here, although I no longer have any GS credit to help pay for it.

I preordered the Star Wars one with the free shipping. My estimated delivery date isn't until November. Oh well, from what I've seen, Amazon's shipping estimates are usually wrong for me.

One nice thing about Amazon's free shipping in my experience is that they'll still use a trackable method for more expensive or large items, which is usually something like UPS 2day or FedEx 2-3 day.

call me an idiot but I don't remember them showing AV cables... I was thinking this entire time you needed an HDTV for sure... nice :) I'm getting this then.

Be advised that only the component cables give the ability to play PSP games on a TV. The composite cables only outputs photos, videos, and music. They even omit the "games" part on the cover.

XD ... just about to post that when I saw Rolento's pics.

Hmm... is there a such thing as an adapter to use component with a SDTV? Can the signals even be changed like that?

My TV is old... so if I did get that, my only luck would be using my ATI graphics card input to play PSP games on my PC monitor (>_
...Wow. So you need an HDTV to play games on the TV? That's fucking stupid.
Buy a new TV, problem solved.
Buy a new TV, problem solved.
Or don't buy a PSP, problem solved.

Maybe I'm in the minority here, but I have a perfectly good TV so why should I go out and buy an HDTV? When that one goes out, I'm sure I'll upgrade but I don't feel any need to go out and buy a new TV just to have the latest gadget.

TV-out was a big selling point for me on the new PSP. If I can't play it on the TV I've got, then it's definitely fallen down the priority list of things to buy.
There are still gamers without HDTVs?
coming from a web forum dedicated to people saving money I think a large part of this site has yet to really upgrade. I plan to, but life has other things to pay for... wait for late college and you'll see.

I'm currently going to school for my masters. Is that late enough college? The TVs aren't that expensive if you save your money. I saw some pretty nice ones at CC the other day for $500-600.

But you're right, I do sometimes forget that most of the people here are cheap lol.

Well... I found the device that could be used to convert the signals from component to composite, but that adapter was rougly 5x the cost of a core PSP-2000!

Luckily, prices on HDTVs have gone down significantly since the last time I checked (years ago)... I expected to end up paying upwards of $1000, but I'm seeing quite a few of them that are $200-$500 on Amazon!

If that's the case... shouldn't be any trouble pulling that off before the end of September.

 yeah never mind then... you're ahead of me >_<

I have a hard ass time spending more than $2 on anything not gaming sometimes... I'm trying to loosen up though...

I expect to have an HDTV in less than 4 months though.
Buy a new TV, problem solved.
Oh, why didn't I think of that? Thanks so much!

I see 0 need to bother with an HDTV, besides this PSP issue, which is hardly enough to warrant replacing a perfectly working television.

Yeah, Gizmo is the man with all the answers....

I am disappointed to learn the new PSP will not work with non-HD televisions. One of the pluses would've been to take it with me on trips to see relatives. It might have even lead me to buy more UMDs. Most of them do not have HDTV's. Although I will have to pass Gizmo's idea along to them. Hmm just go buy one... BRILLIANT!!! ;)

BTW... Wasn't Sony supposedly going to make a DVD player with a UMD slot or am I just imagining things? Seems like it would make sense to try and boost UMD sales. I might buy more if I could play them at home.

There were all kinds of rumors about what Sony was going to do to support UMD, including building a player into the PS3. Obviously, much of it never happened. TV output on the PSP-2000 is about the best thing they've done so far. Making it only work for HDTVs is a minor slide backwards in what was a big step forward.
