As I go through various boards on this forum (especiall the trading section), I see a lot of people using the term 'PSX'. The thing is, they use it to abbreviate the orginal Playstation One. But, the PSX IS NOT THE SAME AS A PS1! It kind of pisses me off because there's so many people that use it. The Playstation can be reffered to as the PSX, because early versions of it were called the Playstation Experimental. But the general public was never able to get a hold of that version.

Anyway, for those of you that don't know, PSX is a Playstation 2 variant, that included a Hard Drive and a DVD recorder. It was also the first console to introduce the XMB. It was only ever released in Japan. It had plans for America and Europe, but it sucked to much to bring anywhere else.

Anyway, I just wanted to get that rant out. I see PSX misused so many times a day on so many different forums, it kind of gets annoying.

The problem is that PSX was being used waaaaaaaaay before the PS2 even came out to say nothing about Sony's utter-failure megabox.

It was good enough in 1995, it's still good enough now.

Everyone CML for some PSX games.

They're freaking impossilbe to find. I've tried with no success. And they're expensive. New one's are around 600$. But they are pretty cool. 250GB hard drive while the PS3 only has 80GB, and it has a DVD burner. Awesome.
 
From what I remember back in the early playstation/saturn days, psx was the general abbreviation for the playstation. which is why the playstation ign section is psx.ign.com, and I have been going there since 1996. So I don't think it has anything to do with that big white box.
 
Nobody wants their thousand dollar DVD burner, which is why it isn't out in America. PSX has always been the abbreviation for the PS1, I never really new why but even magazines have been using since the PS1 came out, maybe even before.
 
I am glad the TC really knows what he/she is talking about...

Shit changes. Funny, I used to use the term HD for Hard Drive. Now people are asking me what 250 GB has to do with 1080p.
 
I have PSIV, it was going wonderfully until my PSP apparently ate the save file. Bastard. Too bad instead of ever getting PSV, we got a million incarnations of PSO followed by PSU.

PSU, what does a computer power supply have to do with Phantasy Star?
