Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords

The only thing that pisses me off is the game's tendency to drop in skulls at the top of the screen. If there are 2 skulls near the top, chances are that a 3rd will drop into place for your opponent's combo if you make a move. It's just something else to think about while planning my strategy.
My area must just be odd. Every EB and Best Buy within 10 miles has it in stock. I didn't see a placeholder for it at Target though.
I decided to get it yesterday, and checked store availability for all the GS/EB within 20 miles. Three of them had it, and only two listed more on the way. The first that was listed as having some turned out not to have any.

I called the second store and they had one left. I've not seen it at Best Buy, although it seems that every Target has about 3.

I haven't played much yet, though am already thoroughly addicted. Level 7 Druid and climbing.

Anybody manage to forge anything really awesome yet? Last night I made a cap that does +7 damage for every mana that's full (so up to a +28 damage bonus) and had 20% chance to poison on every attack.

Can't find this damn game anywhere. I'll have to drive 15 minutes to the next closes Target store, since it seems people are having some luck finding it there. I really hate the limited availability on good DS games (Advance Wars, WarioWare, Castlevania DoS (before the new re-print), Meteos, etc etc).

Yeah so I decided to download the demo today. About 20 mins later I uninstalled it. I uninstalled it for two reasons. One I didn't want to get too far into the game, and two I needed to play Warcraft because damn this game is fucking awesome. I was amazed how much depth is in this fucker and I want more, I mean more. Can't wait to buy the DS version and play for hours on end. I am just blown away at how awesome this game is.

Thats why I sometimes make an 'invalid move' just to avoid setting up something for the cpu, or forcing it to setup something for me.

God.. this game makes me feel like such a whiner!

I mean, c'mon now. I just hate no matter how much you look at things when you make your move.. does it always seem like you set yourself up!?! Always always always!! It's driving me crazy! I hate the fact that this is such a great game!! LOL
i just cast a spell when i want to do that
I use a couple of spells that require certain colors of mana to stay above a certain number so I tend to use spells sparingly, Id rather have the mana to keep my other spell effects going.

Besides that Im such an 'rpg resource hoarder' by habit, that I find myself hardly ever casting spellls. Then I do this thing where I can see that the board is running out of moves and may soon reset, so I start spamming my spells so I can uise all my mana before I lose it, lol.

as a wizard, i've been using wake the dead in conjunction with fireball to hit two red skulls and get an extra turn.

I've also had success with flaming skulls by setting up greens next to skulls, reds next to blues etc.

I love it when there are two available moves that both look good -- like two sets of skulls that could be matched -- and you pick one and it does okay.

Then the computer inevitably picks the other, chains once, twice, three times, skulls tumble in from the top, and the whole mess deals you massive damage.

But, it's such a good game that I let out a few curses and come back for more.

Somehow I beat him after only a few tries, and that time was a very easy win. I truly felt lucky. Like Jesus was intervening in the game code or something.

Finally got some play time with this last night. Got my wizard to level 7. At first I was saying to myself, "This is fun, but I'm not sure why people are going nuts over this." Fifteen minutes later, I was seriously considering turning down sex with my wife to play one more match. Don't worry, I made the right decision.

Now I'm sitting at work with the shakes, tapping jewels in my head.

having a high level mount allows you to skip on map battles. When you run into a guy, you can just hit cancel and they'll vanish and you proceed. The higher the level, the more advanced enemies you can skip
What does training your mounts do? I have my killer rat to level 4 or 5 and I don't see any difference in the stats it gives me.
I don't have my game with me right now, but I think when you have a rat as your mount.. it says it give syou the spell Rabid Bite and also increases...I think your cunning +1? It says something like and additional +1 for every 4 levels?

(Thats obviously not verbatim lol) I THINK it means for every 4 levels, your rat will give you +1 cunning. So Level 1 Rat = +1 Cunning. Level 4 = +2 Cunning. Level 8 = +3 Cunning..etc?

That's how I look at it, and haven't paid too much attention to that. Hopefully someone who knows exactly what it means can confirm this.

This game.. is just amazing. Anyone else working on 2 files at the same time? I'm mainly using a Knight who is about Level 20 now, but I also have my second file as a Level 4 Wizard (..well, Witch). I just wanna do as much as I can and see as much as I can. So whatever my Knight doesn't do, I'll have my Witch do it :)

Meanwhile, life is just gonna pass me by..LOL Games like this are life ruiners!!!!

Yeah, it's every five levels.

I think I got my rat up to 10 and stopped :D

I think I'm up to level 28 at the moment.. this game is addicting..

You played another match? ;)

Well, something was tapped, but it wasn't jewels.

I came close to buying this at BB today, but dropping $20 plus $5 in gift card form is too much for me. I'll just stick with the demo for now. I really hope this doesn't become rare.

FOOL! j/k ;)

But seriously, I don't think I've ever read more rhapsodic comments about a game than I have in this forum. What does it take to make you pull the trigger?

Oh I think jewels were tapped...
but did she suck your di... oh sorry... i'm not good at the euphemism game...

So, I'm holding out on this game till I can scoop it up for $20 used. Unfortunately, after searching some 400,000 square miles of EB/GS via store locator, approximately 3 copies have been found. So apparently NO ONE hates this game.

the only thing that prevents this game from selling a million copies is the lack of wifi mode. Can you imagine how much more addictive this is with organized online battles? (clans, ranks, etc)

ofcourse, balances have to be made...Im killing most enemies in one turn with my fire god wizard.
With a long, hard stylus...
Rumble pack, blowing the microphone, front slot, back slot, etc.

Moving on...

I did buy RE 0 for $10 though:applause:

DANG!

you are the Nintendo Dual Screen Lite euphemism KING!

So I got this on Wednesday, and made the mistake of giving it to my girlfriend to play during a 5 hour car ride from Wisconsin to Michigan. I've barely touched it since, and the DS isn't even at my house for break.. craziness. She's absolutely addicted to this game.

I made this same mistake with Lumines, Zoo Keeper, Tetris DS, Katamari Damacy, Theme Park DS, to name a few.

Just got the fucker and damn does the enemy cheat. I love it when they can tell where the skulls are going to drop outside the playing field and then the pull this super combo because they know 3 grid spaces outside my field of view, fuckers.

lol, soo true. I only put it down long enough to let feeling return to my left hand. I had to move my charger and plug it into a place where I could sit and play while the ds is recharging, lol. Funny that battery life was never an issue for me until this game.

Bought it Monday, beat it today. Every waking hour. The last boss is a bitch and half. Basically, you've got to chain together your spells/combos to where he doesnt get any turns, or very few turns.

Too bad its competitively broken, or I'd try to max stats out to 255. I hear in competition whoever goes first just one shots the other guy

i was thinking the same thing

does anybody that cant find this game wanna trade this or buy this off of me? i need to stop playing it, ive already deleted my characters off of it, so you can start anew.

just send me a pm or what not.

My game seems to be freezing quite a bit. Anyone else experiencing this? It has yet to freeze in mid battle or at least a point that would piss me off.
