Puzzle Quest (PC version) for $10.00

in for this! thanks OP!

been having trouble deciding between PC/360/DS on this, but saving a few bucks vs. XBLA and having *some* ability to move the install around pushed me to this one.

Yeah, I have it set to do the black bars on the sides for most games. I just thought it was nice for a Puzzle Quest to actually feature a widescreen setting. It's rare. The game fills the whole screen with no stretching or black bars. Virtually every laptop being sold now is widescreen, so I hope more games will start having a widescreen setting for graphics, too.

Wow, multiplayer is a blast. Big Fish will let you install the game on multiple PCs. We just played multiplayer over our lan all night last night. Very fun!
Good grief, does the PS2 version work? :D So far the Wii, PSP, PC, and DS versions all have at least some issues.
The PS2 and Wii versions were built on the same platform, so both suffer from the migraine-inducing tiny font problem, as well as pixelated images.

No version is "perfect," although I think the PC version is probably the best of the crop. It looks pretty good, runs pretty stable, and has some balance tweaks that the portables did not. It also has legible text.

As much as I liked the DS version, it does seem that there have been a lot of improvements to the PC version. The gameplay is really slick and multiplayer works great. And the graphics and sound have definitely improved from the original PC demo aways back. Well worth the $10. Easily worth the regular price of $20, too. I noticed it has already been winning some game of the year awards on some of the game sites...for the PSP no less...

Nobody answered my question. What is Puzzle Quest and why in the heck would I want to buy something I've never heard of! Is it good or what?

You could get in a huff about it... OR maybe you could just use Google... hmm...

this game is destroying my life, lol.. i want to go in to kill about 15-20 min and end up playing 3 hrs before i know it. truly the mark of a great game.

between this and psychonauts(free on gametap), I'm not getting much sleep. gah!

I know my productivity has gone to pot the past few days...my roommate and I keep playing and playing...arghhhhhh

Psychonauts...that's a great game! Played it on PS2 awhile back...

I'm happy with my $14.99 Puzzle Quest for the Wii from amazon along with free shipping because I had to order something else anyways. But if I didn't get the Wii version already, this would be a pretty good deal.

Okay, I bought the damn thing....

Y'all were right...it is friggin' great.

I think my girlfriend's gonna dump me over it...

Puzzle Quest for $10, PC, relying on CC and their 50% off on all PC games $20 and lower during the week of 1/20. No DRM worries and it's the best version(albeit not portable unless you have a laptop.) The downside? Gotta hope CC has it.

So does the game install some Big Fish app in the background? Most of those PopCap and WildTangent type apps use resources as if they were spyware.

And are there any differences b/w this version and the boxed disc version? Thanks, I'm not finding much about BF on the PQ websites.

So I said screw it and downloaded the demo. It installs a Big Fish client to download the game and give access to it. But after the client installs the game you can just shortcut the exe without loading up the BF software.

Looks like the client (bfgclient.exe) uses less than 5% of my CPU at max and only about 28MB of RAM.

SO, you have to have an net connection and allow access to BF to install the game but not to play it. I'm buying.

No. Don't buy it. Don't do it, especially if you like to sleep, get things done, or play games casually.

Lol

Seriously, this is the most addictive game I've played in a long, long time. Once I start, I usually play for hours. Hell, it feels like 10 minutes then I look at the clock, many hours hours have passed, and its 3am...

Yes, it has local and online multiplayer. I'm not sure of the differences but it plays like a full version.

It is definitely the full version. And you can install it on multiple PCs. Just log onto your account on Big Fish and you can install it on other computers you have. We play local multiplayer here all the time with one paid copy.

I just picked up the pc version of Puzzle Quest at Circuit City for 10 bucks with the 50% off any pc game 19.99 and under.

Did you girlfriend really dump you over that game? Just buy her JoJo's Fashion Show or something girly. Get her addicted, too, then you can play all you want....
Yes she dumped me! Like I would lie about something like that!

Said I play games too much...
Sound's like she was hating!

This is coming up again on the same sale next week at CC if anyone prefers the disc copy and not a DL.

How is the Online Mutliplayer for the PC version?
Is there a lot of people who play?
I already have the DS version of the game, but I wouldn't mind spending $10 to be able to battle people online with the PC version. I

There's no servers... you gotta know someone's IP to play 'em online. You can sometimes find players on the game's website forums who are looking for online opponents.

o well, thats lame.
well i think if enough Cags got this and we made a Puzzle Quest PC Multiplayer thread where we posted our IP's to play together I would get it.
I think that would be a good idea.

Games For Windows The Official Magazine (formerly Computer Gaming World for those who thinks the new title sucks) just gave Puzzle Quest: Challenge Of The Warlords a PERFECT 10 out of 10 in the March 2008 issue.

Here's what they said:

"I daresay Puzzle Quest is to casual games what World Of Warcraft is to MMORPGs: a vast, complex piece of entertainment that embraces all the very best concepts of its genre and improves upon them tenfold. Whoever you are, and whatever you are into, you absolutely need to play this game."

Download Puzzle Quest:

Use DETECTIVE to get it for 50% off or only $10...

So CGW, or whatever it is called now, gave Puzzle Quest a 10? Well, I could have told you it was a 10. Duh...it's like crack...
