I'm currently desperate to find new copies of Golden Sun 2: The Lost Age (GBA) and Star Wars: Rogue Squadron 3: Rebel Strike (GC). Both games are out of print, but if new should be 19.99. I've given up on Rebel Strike, because even though my roommate and I want a really good multiplayer game, I don't think the single player is worth it.

But I really want Golden Sun 2. I just started the first one again (I never finished it, but I got far and then made a decision that prevented me from going back and exploring a lot of the game world...something about a Venus temple or something...I don't remember. Anyways, its a hell of game, and I want to have the sequel for when I really finish the first one. A lot of people say the sequel is better than the first one.

Anyways, I just ordered it from gamestop, even though its backordered. I called their customer support and the guy said it was indeed out of print, but that its possible there are copies somewhere in the country that are on a store shelf or in a back room, and that gamestop.com contacts the stores and asks them to send the game to them to they can send them out to people who ordered online.

Is this game worth waiting for? I will never be charged unless it ships, but I don't want to have my order just sitting there if there's no hope. Has anyone else ever heard of a game being backordered and out of print but actually being sent out?

Thanks.

Have you checked Walmart? The last couple times I went to mine, I remember seeing it (Golden Sun 2).

I'm having the same problem, but with the first Golden Sun. It's not available new anymore, and I don't feel comfortable buying used GBA games online because I want to make sure I can inspect the cart to see if it's pirated or not before I buy it. So, my chances of finding a complete copy are pretty low.

Golden Sun: The Lost Age is a bit easier find, though still difficult. Check B&M retailers near you that don't turn over their videogame inventory a lot (K-mart, for example). The only place online I could find it new is Circuit City, where it's $19.99:

Personally I'd order it from ebgames.com and simply return it to a B&M store if it was a pirated copy. If you want to make sure ask if they would accept a return for that reason at your local EB. Actually I did order it from ebgames.com and I'm pretty sure it's legit. Has Nintendo printed on the chip anyway, is there something else to check? And I saw a boxed copy (so I'm guessing it probably had the instructions as well), at a local EB for the same price I paid online a week or so later :( (though I wouldn't have been able to use CAG15 in store of course - and this was when cash for stash was gone for a bit.)

A bunch of my local EB's actually have this in stock, ebgames.com now lets you see which local stores have it, so try that (that suggestion's more for the OP)

Nope, if it has Nintendo printed on the chip, it's legit. Here's Nintendo's own comparison of pirated and real games: http://ap.nintendo.com/tab_06.html

My local EB Games had a copy of Golden Sun about a month ago, but I'm holding out for a complete copy. I guess I should just get the cart only now and hope to find the box and inserts later. That might be the best approach.

My local Toys R Us still have both games (Golden Sun: The Lost Age and Star Wars: Rogue Squadron III: Rebel Strike) in stock.
