Question: Best free video editing software/program?

I am running a 1.5 GhZ Gateway Laptop with Vista and about 2GB of RAM. I have been searching for a free video editing software. I know Windows Movie Maker 2 is pre-installed, but I never have any luck with it. I currently have a 30 day trial to Sony Vegas, but cannot renew it soon. Any other suggestions? Thanks!

You could try VirtualDub, but it takes a while to get used to. IIRC, it doesn't work with WMV files either. It is best for simple editing like cropping, speed/slowing frames, filters, etc. It doesn't have the same timeline interface as WMM2.
