Rare/uncommon/sought after games you own?

Honestly, far too many to list. Here's some though:

A near complete TurboGrafx-16/TurboDuo collection (only missing 11 or 12 games)
Panzer Dragoon Saga
Final Fantasy II, III, VII
Suikoden II
Rez
Guy Game (Xbox)
Bust-A-Groove
Shadow Hearts
Triad Stone and Pyramid Patrol (Mega LD)
Night Trap (Sealed-3DO)
Vay
Albert Odyssey
Christmas NiGHTS
Sailor Moon Super-S (PS1-Import)

A boatload of other crap. That's just some of the stuff I can think of ATM.

My biggest rarity moment was that I got Swordquest: Waterworld for the Atari 2600 when it was first released (yeah I'm that old); however, that was sold in a garage sale by my parents many many years ago. In hindsight, the Swordquest games were really really crappy; the very common Adventure was head and shoulders above.
Yeah, the games are ass in hindsight, but still. I played the hell out of Earthworld (which I still have, somewhere...) back then. I always wanted the other 2 and have never actually physically seen a single copy of either. For the record, I got Earthworld new, and even still have the comic.

Hmm, I don't own very many rare games. I would say the two I have are Xenogears, without case, which I got for 20 bucks and FF Tactacs which I got for 10.

OK time to get my brag on :) I am just picking the true highlights...(un)fortunately, my collection is effing ridiculous these days. These are all complete and A- or better condition, possibly excepting a couple of the Sega CD games which may be B+. I've missed a few I'm sure, and some maybe aren't as rare as others, but whatever :p if you want to see the whole shebang: http://users.ign.com/collection/n8n8baby

Impressive, not bad at all. Picked some nice highlights there.
Yes he has a nice collection but are all those really that rare/uncommon or sought after ?
no but the majority of it is.. hes probably just showing off his entire collection. which pretty much what this thread is all about.

I can add a disc only Suikoden 2 ($3) to my list (along with my complete copy which Ive had seen release). Got that along with a disc only Raiden Project $1. I also scored a sealed TG16 Exile and Cosmic Fantasy 2 on ebay for under $50 with shipping. Ill probably trade those for unsealed copies.

Wow that's the first collection I've been envious of in a while :) Actually we have a ton of overlap on rarities...the main difference between our collections is you have much more pre-Sega CD (namely NeoGeo) and PC stuff, and I have a bit more in terms of non-rare last/curr-gen games. Too bad you are on the other side of the country...I'd love to do some serious battling/co-piloting with ya!

PS - Is Beggar Prince that recently released Genesis RPG? How is it?

Have a sealed and an opened copy of Ninja Five-O. the only reason one copy is open is because I wanted to see if the game was any good. It was OK, but not worth the money people spend on it to get it.

Well I got it for $25 very slightly used and complete from a guy about 2 weeks after it came out. I don't know what it goes for now, I just know I've never seen a copy of it in a store, and that people say it's rare. I think it's an awesome game...cross between Shinobi and Bionic Commando. If that sounds good to you, you'll dig the game (assuming you don't mind high-ish difficulty level).

PS What's this sucker going for these days, anyway?
Yes he has a nice collection but are all those really that rare/uncommon or sought after ?
Some are not rare or that uncommon, however, I think many of them will be eventually. This however is not even close to my full collection. It's mostly the best of it though.

To have the Star Fox competition cart survive a couple of yardsales was obviously from yardsales held before eBay changed most peoples perception of old video games :D

I also got rid of my Super Mario RPG (when the Saturn came out) although that was easily replaced a few years later on clearance. I never really got rid of my old games except for when I traded in some SNES stuff when the Saturn came out with the low price of $400 :)

I still do have abunch of the pins they handed out from the Star Fox tournament that they gave you every time you played and I might even still have my Star Fox shirt from it also.

LOL got to laugh seeing my personal collection is pretty similar to what you have for PS2 give or take a few titles...

Hey man, thanks alot. I just posted a tiny slab of rarities/HTF and such, just so many that you easily skip over alot of them. As for Beggar Prince, yes this is the one. I like it, it's a solid/good overhead 2D RPG and a nice translation by SFT. Reminds me somewhat of Lunar and Final Fantasy.

Isn't that the Net Yaroze?

Either way I want a Net Yaroze even if it's not.

NES:
Final Fantasy (complete w/guide, though the box is a little dented)
Dragon Warrior (complete)

SNES:
Final Fantasy II (complete
Final Fantasy III (complete w/guide)
Zelda: A Link to the Past (complete)
Mega Man X (complete)

GC:
Zelda Collectors' Edition (sealed)

GBC:
Zelda Oracle of Seasons (sealed)
Zelda Oracle of Ages (sealed)
Zelda Oracles Strategy Guide

PC:
Final Fantasy VII

I like to collect games but what is the point of keeping sealed games. I like just to keep my games mint and play them at the same time -- what's wrong with that?

Nothing but some people like to collect sealed games and some are even willing to pay a hefty sum for certain games sealed. Some of the games I have sealed that I never got around to opening I'd rather keep sealed at this point and find other means of playing.

I found a wikipedia page on the Net Yaroze, which I kept saying I was 'gonna pick up' but never got around to it. I have one question though, did Sony even release a non DS PS1 controller in black? If not, I think I've been seeing ALOT of the Net Yaroze controllers floating around then.

Here's the info: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Net_Yaroze

Sicker part of this is....I swear I saw one of these in a bulk box of PS1 systems some local shop was selling and I passed on it, thinking it was just some little kids 'artwork'(meaning they colored the damned thing black).

It would take one very determined little brat to color a whole Playstation with a marker :D I have seen a couple of NES games with a part of the squared pattern somewhere on the cart markered in the wild in the last few years but never a whole cart/system.
I have one question though, did Sony even release a non DS PS1 controller in black?
Not one that's a solid color. They were one that was "smoke" colored, which was black but see-through.
Isn't that the Net Yaroze?

Either way I want a Net Yaroze even if it's not.
the Net Yaroze was black. my photo's color might be a little off, but this system is a dark and subdued blue in color. i'd actually never seen one (not even a picture of one) until i tripped across it that day. it's a "Debugging Station" and i believe its primary function was playing burned/incomplete games, and was used by developers and beta testers alongside their dev kits. it would be my guess that the press (gaming magazines, etc.) used these as well.

You mean aside from the requisite 'autographing' many kids did to their cart(and in some cases DISC games) which I've been picking up on the cheap lately?

One thing I know from back in the day which works wonders to get that marker off without using alot of rubbing is lighter fluid. Albeit, it makes the cart/disc rather flammable for a bit, BUT it evaporates fairly quickly and the smell even just evaporates most times.

Mind you though, if it's a game I'm only going to play and not try and possibly resell to someone, I may just LEAVE the marker or stickers anymore, since you have no idea how many friggin eons those bad boys have been ON those games.

And ya know, I think I've also seen one of those blue PS1s also. Had I only known that THEY are the ones I'd need to use if'n I ever get a friggin uncensored copy of Thrill Kill that works to try out.

Ahhh well, another opportunity lost....

Here's my list. I don't own anything super-rare, so to speak. I mostly own some of the more uncommon games out there that are harder to find.

Dreamcast (all U.S: complete unless otherwise noted):

-Street Fighter Alpha 3 (disc-only)
-Capcom vs SNK
-Marvel vs Capcom 2 (disc-only; jewel case broke a while ago :()
-Blue Stinger (not quite sure if this one is "rare" so to speak)

PS2:

-Shadow of the Colussus
-Psychonauts
-Rumble Racing (this one is really hard to find complete, at least in my area! disc-only)
-Devil May Cry 10th Anniversary Collection (The only reason I'm listing this is because the version of DMC 3 Special Edition included in this collection has a black label. That version may become rare in the future.)
-Capcom vs SNK 2
-Mortal Kombat Armageddon Premium Edition
-Tekken 4 (I have not seen this game at all around my area.)

Xbox:

-Jet Set Radio Future/Sega GT 2002 double pack. (Techincally not rare, but I do know that JSRF is getting hard to find.)
-TOCA Race Driver 2/Colin McRae 04 double pack. (Hard to find in my area.)
-TOCA Race Driver 3 (same thing)
-Street Fighter Anniversary Collection

Nintendo Gamecube:

-Gauntlet: Dark Legacy
-Tales of Symphonia
-Dragonball Z: Budokai 2 (have never seen another copy of this game anywhere else in my area)

SNES:

-Super Mario World + Super Mario All Stars (all on one cartridge!)

Gameboy/Gameboy Color:

-Operation C (cartridge only)
-Bionic Commando: Special Forces (GBC) (unsure of the title; haven't played it in a while)

Gameboy Advance:

-Fire Pro Wrestling
-Street Fighter Alpha 3
-Gunstar Super Heroes

Genesis:

-Sports Talk Football '93 featuring Joe Montana (complete!)

I actually do the same thing and never bother with taking stickers off of games I buy or erasing a name in sharpie...unless I'm selling them.

About 10 years ago my one friend owned me $20-30 and ended up giving me about 20 NES game most with manuals and in those fancy black plastic nintendo cases with the grey lids that hold 10 games. It's a good dam think he did too since I still have them and he probably would have just ended up pawning them for a quick fix at some point. Anyways most of the games I got from him actually had his initials inscribed into the carts although it not that big of a deal as it's small on all of them (1/4 inch by 1/4 roughly). The way some people are stamped their name on a game they could have inscribed their name or initials taking up the whole back of an NES game lol

I actually have a couple of NES games that seem to have names painted on them in big letters. I tried out a magic eraser and it barely even took it out. I'm thinking that it would take an hour with magic eraser to maybe get most of it out at best.

It's not. The PS 2 is a little harder to find.
Artificial Ebay pricing - AGAIN. I want to buy BG 2 PS2 and Wizardry Ps2.
they are always out there.

???

I think that poster was talking about Baldurs Gate Dark Alliance 2(BG 2) and of course, Wizardry. I've seen both, but at Gamestop I think both fetch a premium price.

My sister briefly owned a NES whose prior owner (some stoner-ish guy she knew) painted the thing black, with a badly-done Nine-Inch-Nails logo in white on the front. Mind you, I'm not talking model paint or anything that would be appropriate for such an endeavor, but the cheap washable acrylic paint you get for 80 cents a bottle just about anywhere.

Needless to say, the heavy black paint layer coupled with a generic AC adapter quickly resulted in a fried system. I held onto it for awhile, debating an attempt at repair, but eventually decided the effort for both a fix and paint removal was just too much.
