Rarity & Value: Growlanser Generations DLX in Future?

I picked up an EB ad today and saw the Growlanser Deluxe in it and what it includes. I have to say, it reminds me of Lunar (PS1). Do you guys think this will be rare and worth much in the future like what seems all Working Design games? Or will it flop like Robotech Collector's Edition?
Cover looks cool though...need more money. When is it coming out and how good is it supposed to be?
 
Well, its Working Designs so there won't be millions of these.

I certainly hope it goes up in value, or at least retains full retail value. I ordered one with the mtvshop deal a while back for $59.
 
It depends on if Growlanser 4 gets popular. If not, I don't think it's going to be worth much.
Lunar:
1. Had a cloth map!
2. Was very popular and had some hype behind it
(the whole, finally being able to play it in NA without a Sega CD)
3. Had practical extras.

I forget what the Growlanser set has, but isn't it like a watch and other weird things that have no relevance?

Note on #2: I know that this is the game's first NA release, but the Strategy RPG market has been oversaturated this last year and the graphics, sound, and I imagine even the gameplay will feel dated, unlike Lunar which was up to the PSX standard.
 
Yeah, I got the deluxe version. It comes with a watch, a chain, a ring, a deck of cards, a soundtrack, and the cases and stuff for all of that. I would think it would be hard to find complete down the line, unless they make a good amount of these and they don't sell too well.

Lunar was somewhat dated at the time for psx but not that bad. The ring and chain have some relevance to the story of Growlanser, did Lunar even have extras beyond the map?
 
Working Designs has always been capital challenged and served the hardcore gamer market. Good job if you can make a decent living at it. They know they have a limited audience and do their best to cater to that. This makes for deluxe packages that tend to be made in small numbers.

The comparison to Robotech isn't really valid. That game was generally regarded as merely decent and didn't do all that well on any platform. The deluxe package for that was an unwarranted attempt to scam the fanboys. Growlanser is very well regarded series in Japan but had certain issues that made most major US publishers uninclined to take on US distribution. This makes it perfect for Working Designs and future eBay gouging.
 
I'm definitely buying Growlanser: Generations, but I probably won'y get the deluxe pack. Yes, it's very nice, but I don't think I want to pay that much.
 
i also got the delux pack at the mtv store for under sixty and it will go on the shelf next to my other wd treasures.

the lunar games delux editions contained extras beyond the cloth map: they both have a soundtrack and "making of" disc, and the eb has a necklace and if you preordered the lunar eb version you got a ghaleon punching puppet as well.
 
Yeah, I remember the puppet, that was nice.

He was trying to make the point that the Lunar extras were better. Working Designs usually has nice extras when they do them, and I don't think theres anything wrong with the extras in Growlanser Deluxe or Lunar.

If anything I'm slightly disappointed with my Arc the Lad extras.
 
I don't know, the watch, ring, and chain all seem like odd selections to me, but I don't represent all of the gaming community. What was included in the Arc the Lad collection? I remember that game was limited to begin with. Was there a regular and a deluxe?
 
I think Arc the Lad Collection only had one package, no deluxe.

Growlanser seem cool, I think I'll get the Deluxe but I have a feeling my cash will be low this Christmas.
 
Arc's extras were somewhat odd.
If you pre-ordered, you got the Arc boxed set [set was nice, nice hardbound instr book, a box with a plastic Arc memory card holder, some little cardboard plastic standee things, and 4 rubber analog stick covers with ARc characters on them], also you got a watch with one of 6 or so pictures on the face, in a nice metal case. It was not a wrist watch, but one of those that clip on to your belt loops. If you preordered from WD, you got those things and an Arc mousepad [again, multiple styles, no choice.]
WD wanted 74.99, I believe, for the game, watch, mousepad, and free FedEx shipping, which isn't actually that bad if you think that there were 3 [4 if you count Arc Arena] games in the set. But there was no game-only package, the extras [thumb covers, mem card case, standees] were packed in.
The punching puppet to me always seemed stupid. Different, yes, but stupid. I would have preferred a bobblehead or a stuffed animal or even a plastic action figure thing. [Last time I browsed ebay, one of the Arc watches was available for 1.00.]
I'm still on the fence about GG: deluxe. I don't 'need' a deck of cards, but it could be used; the soundtrack CD is always useful [assuming you like the music], and I doubt I'd actually wear the watch or necklace anywhere; but I've got enough credit at a store to get it with no cash out of pocket, and there's really not much else at that store that I'm interested in getting, so i might splurge to use up my credit and support WD's doing 'extra' for the fans. The extras for GG seem a little 'sturdier' than that for AtLC, if nothing else.
 
I think I may trade in some things if Gamestop has the Deluxe version. I have an extra copy of Dragon Warrior VII so I should be able to get some decent credit for that.
 
I still don't know if I'm going to get it. Isn't this the first game to be released by Working Designs on a nex-gen system? It feels like there won't be many released by them for the 3 systems.
 
Working Designs released Silpheed and GunGriffon Blaze for PS2. They're working on a game called Goemon and one other unnamed game for PS2, according to their website.
 
Working Designs doesn't actual create/design games. They take games that are somewhat popular in Japan and translate them to English. The only exception to this is a game named Iron Storm for the Sega Saturn (it was only released in NA).
