RE: UC details and RE4 Wii Confirmation[Gamer's Day!]

Ah, I was afraid of that. As soon as they annouced that you'd be going through all the major games in the series, something in me said that there HAS to be a catch. No normal RE (even in RE4) style would work like that.

... oh well. Still gonna get it first day.

Oh, and they list off some main characters, but where is BARRY BURTON (note the caps)?

It's a crime that Barry has yet to have his own game. :bomb:

RE Gaiden not good enough for you? Its people like you that complain about the Gary Cherone days of Van halen.
But I can't play Eternal Darkness for much more than an hour at a time.
Thats because it's a badly made game.

Hmm. If RE4-III is cheap, I'll probably pick it up. Not really looking forward to Umbrella Chronicles, though. Then again, I'm not much for horror games. Movies? No problem. But I can't play Eternal Darkness for much more than an hour at a time.
I'm fairly certain his statement was meant to imply that the game is too creepy. However, I thought the ED setup worked just fine and the story wasnt too bad to boot. What were your issues?
From reading through the NeoGAF thread, it looks like they're going to be combining the PS2 and GC releases for the Wii RE4. Extras from PS2 version, but using real-time cutscenes rather than the FMVs that were used in the PS2 version. So... hopefully that ends up being true, and I'll probably sell my Cube copy, for all ten minutes I've played of it.
Hot.

I just hope it has a traditional control scheme along with the wii control scheme... that, along with all the PS2 extras, makes it the best of best worlds. I'm not really interested in the wii aspects they would put into RE 4, just the best looking version of the game with all the extras. I'd probably play through the wiimote part of it for fun, though.

I'd totally be down for that for $30. I will wait for concrete information before I sell both my PS2 + GC RE 4, though.

Can you really blame him if he has a problem with ED? Poor guy...

Well the sanity effects made me swear, but I actually found it to be a nice control setup. I actually thought the fixed camera added to the atmosphere.

You know, I really gotta wonder if Capcom has a beef with Nintendo, or if they simply no longer see them as relevant in today's industry.

I mean support and all is nice and certainly appreciated, but it's bordering on pacification than anything else at this point. From the severe lack of games on the DS to fairly lukewarm attempts to support the Wii to hardly any releases on the VC, they sure don't seem to want to reach out to any potential audiences outside of releasing Megaman Battle Network: Megaman Battle Network Edition every year in two different flavors.

Capcom has been known for trying to support the underdog (RE on GC, PSP games). I think Capcom didn't expect the Wii to do well, so all they planned for was RE:UC. Right now, it looks like they're realizing that Wii is taking off, so now we're getting RE4, Inafune's new game, and Adventure Island Z(unless this is Inafune's game). RE4 is something they can churn out fairly quickly(May release) so it's obvious that they are seeing that the Wii is a great money making opportunity. And hey, at least they aren't doing what Ubisoft is doing. RE4 port makes sense and it looks like it will play great.

Just saw the trailer for UC and it definitley looks like a lightgun game. The announcement of the blaster, or whatever it's called, can't be coincidence.

If it indeed is a lightgun shooter then count me in.

This is a good assessment and probably close to the truth. It still sucks that Capcom hasn't been very supportive of Nintendo since the ol' "Capcom 5" for the GC.

RE4 is such an awesome game, though, that it'll be easy to forgive them if the Wii version has slightly improved graphics and fantastic control. I don't know about this "Shooting with the A button" business, but otherwise I'm very excited for this port. It's the only GC port outside of Zelda:TP I find tolerable and even desirable.

That's not to say "updated" GC ports couldn't be a good thing. They'd just need to be genuinely updated. RE4 for the Wii may set a great precedent for GC ports if it turns out to rock socks.

I don't know how accurate that pic is.

Anyway, Capcom definitely has something against Nintendo. I mean their kiddie console comment should be enough to prove that. Of course the Wii's massive sales are probably changing their minds since there is lots of money to be had. That and the insults being flung at them by the Wii fans.

The GCN image is from a VERY early build, so it isn't a fair comparison.

I've already beaten it on 2 different consoles, but to the 3 people who haven't already, it's probably good news for those guys. This might lead to a new slew of Wii-fied last generation ports. Perhaps Luigi's Mansion, where the Wii controller is your flashlight?

I wasnt aware that Capcom had a beef with anyone... Their Mega Man series is now largely a DS exclusive. Nintendo partnered with Capcom to make the last few handheld Zelda games. If trusting them with Zelda wasnt some sort of gesture, I dont know what could swing opinion.

Hell no. The last thing the Wii needs are more ports.

Hey, I haven't read much into the thread so if it's been said.. I apologize :)

But I saw Resident Evil 4 Wii on EB/GS site..and they are selling it for $30 :)
(I'm sure someone said it..lol)

whoa I dont know about that, it looks..... weird.

Ill be getting RE4 on Wii, *puts on flame shield* I never played it on GCN or PS2 *puts away flame shield* and for $30, you cant go wrong

If you make an inventory of the talent Capcom actually has left, everyone that was decidedly pro-Nintendo is already gone, for the most part.

Totally getting this. Traded my GC RE4 ages ago so I'm more than happy to pick this up again with Wii controls and the PS2 extras. I just hope there is maybe another weapon or two or an extra costume just as a lil sumpin sumpin.

More RE4 wii screens
I'm still hoping for some kind of gamecube controller / classic controller support along with the new wii controls... it looks like it would make the game TOO easy since you could just headshot every one with ease. I just want the option to play through the new content the old way, as well as the new way. Think Metal Slug Anthology, a control scheme for everyone.

Going to dump both my RE 4's on Ebay though, because this one will be the definitive one.

Looks like the game was pushed back to 6/25/07 though.

If this is finalized at the $30 price point, I will definitely pick up a Wii by this summer (missed it at launch, and haven't seen a reason to hunt for one since). Never played either version of RE4, though I did watch someone play through most of the game.

Same here. I never played my copy of RE4, but watched someone play through my copy. If the Wii controls are well done, and they probably will be, I will be picking this up.

I so hope that commercial comes to the States. It'll be like the Sanjaya of video game commercials: terrible but heartwarming and endearing.
Hell no. The last thing the Wii needs are more ports.
Yes, the last thing the Wii needs is more games. One new game every three months with nothing to kill time inbetween.

What the Wii needs is more games all around. If they're ports of NGC games, but with better controls and more stuff then so be it. And besides without these Wii ports, most devs won't have the funds to make games on other *COUGH*PS3*COUGH* systems. At this point in time, you need RE4 Wii in order for RE5 to see release.

Someone should tell the girl in that commerical that the store forgot to give her the back of her shirt. It kinda looks like she just draped a large napkin over her shoulders.

For $30, I'm totally in for RE4 on the Wii. This and Wind Waker were the games I was hoping to see be remade (that is, ported with Wii controls) for the system. Add in that it's got the added stuff from the PS2 version, and it sounds like a great time to me. :)

This isn't a new game by any stretch of the imagination. It's a two year old game that's adding content from the PS2 game we saw at the end of 2005 with a little waggle support added in. The only reason anyone is paying any attention to this is because it's Resident Evil 4, so they know that the fans are still willing to pay more money for the game.

If Capcom needs this to be able to finish RE5, then they should just quit the business. Developers don't need Wii ports to support other development, they're making porting games amongst the PS2, PSP, and Wii as a new way to make more money for the least amount of work as possible. I've been against sloppy seconds ports from the beginning and RE4 is no different.
