Recommend some clean comedies: examples inside

Tommy Boy + Black Sheep

Also, it may not be a popular movie here, but Zoolander. I crack up ridiculously hard at this movie. I can watch it over and over and never find it old. Classic Ben Stiller!

Planes, Trains, and Automobiles

And any of the Adam Sandler movies before he did the lame drama with some weird looking little girl

UHF, Spaceballs, and Airplane? Clean?

Anyhoot, try Laurel and Hardy (all other teams blow compared to them in my book). Lets see, Little Nicky, The Benchwarmers, Uncle Buck, The Mask, Liar Liar, Problem Child, any Ernest movie, any 3 Stooges (even though I personally dispise them), Bringing Down the House...to name a few

If you like naked gun, get the police squad tv series instead. Much cleaner and funnier imo. I think Naked Gun has more boob adult jokes. Police Squad is full on - clever, intelligent stuff, without relying on busty women and beavers for laughs.

Princess Bride is also quite good. Clean and funny.
Wallace and Gromit or Shaun the Sheep - good clean adrman funny stuff
Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Kids always love knights and cartoony violence. (although my alzheimery brain is telling me there might be a flash of nudity at the end. It's been eons since I saw it last)
Time Bandits is quite good, although more adventury than funny.
I saw Airplane mentioned. That's a great series.
Invader Zim is the best funny cartoon series ever, if you don't already have that.
Big Train the tv series is great clean fun. Lots of visual gags and funny as heck. It's like a clean monty python. - check out some clips on youtube. There are a few risque sketches, more I would say 98% of it is good clean fun.
Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back.
This would be the version where in the opening scene Jay takes a shovel to the face, shattering his jaw, and forcing him to remain speechless throughout?

Kevin Smith missed his calling as the Harpo Marx of his generation.

Sarcasm may be a factor but some folks here have a very odd definition of clean.

If you're really looking to find material that is truly clean and get a lot of value for your money, go with the oldies. This has the added advantage of offering some interesting history lessons. Understanding the context of an era can rescue a joke that might be meaningless to a modern child. A much better way to learn history than a dry textbook.

Plus, it's a really inexpensive approach to film geekery. A few years ago, I found a collection of Buster Keaton material at a Wal-mart for around $6. They probably still have it available. A real bargain.

Also, you can teach him to appreciated the dirt of former generations. W.C. Fields and Mae West had to be far more subtle than today's primetime TV but there is some real gold there.

Most of my favorite 80's comedies have been mentioned (National Lampoon's Vacation, Pee Wee's Big Adventure, Goonies, Ferris Bueller, UHF), but one I haven't seen mentioned yet that I'd highly recommend is Real Genius. Also, If you're a Mel Brooks fan I really enjoy High Anxiety.

I can't think of one dirty thing in UHF..

I was thinking the same thing.

That why I suggested The Three Stooges.

I think someone already mentioned it, but I'm going to throw a vote in for Tommy Boy. The only not super clean thing in the movie I can think of is the david spade watching the lady in the pool scene, but it's not that bad (and is one of my favorite parts in the movie.)

Well, here is a few that I haven't seen mentioned:

Home Alone 1 or 2 (Didn't really like the last 2 but they are all funny in a good way with a young child plus the first 2 have a christmas theme)

Johnny Dangerously (One movie that teaches us all about bad words in a good way)

funny you enjoy "Disorderlies"... it's so awful I bought it on DVD just cause it's so bad it's good...

Napoleon Dynamite is my suggestion

Thanks for all the input, guys. I'm following the thread even when I'm not posting in it.

Several of the mentions are already in our collection, such as ALL of the Looney Tunes videos and DVDs. We've seen some of the other suggested movies as well (which I forgot about or didn't mention because we don't own them or I wouldn't consider them favorites), but lots of new material also. I will have to check some of these out, and whenever I decide I will definitely post what movies I end up going with.

The Great Outdoors
National Lampoon's Vacation

whoever said Captain Ron up above fucking rules, only Martin Short movie I could stomach because Kurt Russel is ten kinds of awesome in it.

Just thought I would bump this to let everyone know what I ended up choosing for gifts: Ghostbusters and Ferris Buehler's Day Off.

Thanks for everyone's input and suggestions.

Great choices, even though Ghostbusters has a few instances of salty language.
