My order still shows 'Open'. I preordered a few weeks ago with overnight ship. Hoping it does show up tomorrow :)

But they had nothing at all beyond the free chips & soda. It was pretty dissapointing since none of the employees dismissed the rumor that they might have extras. I usually avoid GS like the plague unless they have a worthy & unique deal. I would rather have the Amazon promotion w/ the golden guns than the code for the free soundtrack. Oh well, at least the Metacritic scores are amazing.

At least you guys had free chips and soda. One of the two GS midnight sales I went to was an absolute disaster. There was a group of college students that were smoking a bowl the entire time while waiting in line while repeatedly saying how they were going to prestige as soon as they got home. If only some people acted their age..
yup no CD oh well
That is utter garbage and bullshit. I wanted this as I thought it was an actual soundtrack, not digital trash.

Sweet. Mine is now shipped as well. Crossing my fingers it's the special edition. I ordered it while the special edition was still on the product page, but you never know. Hopefully it will work out.

Haven't gotten my 10 dollar code either, but I'm sure it will come soon enough.

 The one guy who showed up to the midnight launch I went to kept talking about being wasted and stoned and asked me if I had any weed.

I just kinda laughed. Nothing extra was given out at the store I went to, though the employees did have some cake and cookies supposedly for the people coming in for the launch.

Otherwise it was a loooooong wait(got there at like 10:30 lol)for the 'Special'(not so special cuz it's only a fuckin' download code for the soundtrack:bomb:)edition and I have another one coming in from the website today that's hopefully also the SE.

I'll probably return the copy from the website to the store I usually go to and put down a full pre-order on Transformers for next month.

College students smoking weed? Sounds like they were acting their age.

warning - different upc on gamestop "special " edition. no fucking audio cd. you get a code for outfit . the same code allows you to download the songs. wtf. should have read the earlier posts and decided to open my amazon edition instead. oh, no food or swag.

then i went to my walmart. and they didnt have the cards!!!

the story is really good so far. the mp really sucks, like a grind fest.

Both my red dead redemption and alan wake special edition have now shipped. Customer service didn't apply DEADEYE, but it will be here by the 21st, so I can't complain too much I guess.

MP is amazing if you have friends to play with and isn't everything a grind nowadays? BC2 is a grind for new weapons and stuff, MW2 is a grind for new weapons and stuff.. difference between those 2 and RDR is if you actually have friends and they play this game is a BLAST, free roam alone with friends is time consuming not to mention all the other online modes and who cares about the audio CD? download the cd from the code and burn it.. then again some people still buy and collect CDs i guess and the special edition is more then just a outfit, that code is also going to give you exclusive challanges

A bit disappointed to hear the game is only 20 hours long...Based on the videos i saw for hype it seemed as if there was a alot to do that can make this game interesting but 20 hours? Gezz this may cement me waiting till it's 30 bucks now.

agreed. 20 is more than enough time for me, as it was the same amount of time for all the other gta games. Besides, your talking about an OPEN WORLD SANDBOX GAME. relax. Most of the fun you'll have is either through MP or mini games within the game that'll take up way more than just 20 hours. Heck, i beat uncharted 2 in 10 hours and GOW3 in like 5... those aren't even open world games either. People sure love to complain about things that aren't even that big of deal.

Plus that's just for the story mode, there is so much to do.
It's quite possible to put in 50 - 60 hours plus on your first run through of RDR due to the vast scope of the game world that R* has crafted.

It all depends on how you play the game.
As for me, I'm gonna enjoy my second life as John Marston.

You obviously haven't played the GTA series...trust me, 20 hours will turn into 40...which will turn into 60 by the time you ACTUALLY finish the STORLYINE.

If I know Rockstar, it will take me awhile to finish the game, I'm a sucker for side-quests and just fucking around.

Also, is there a reason I don't have a tracking number for RDR, but I do for Alan Wake? o_O

Yeah, GS hasn't sent me my $10 online coupon code or my shipping confirmation/tracking number yet.
Maybe the system is slow, or maybe since it's overnight and SHOULD be here today, the need for a tracking number isn't needed.
I don't know, simply speculation.

I upgraded my order to overnight shipping (like many here) and it shipped last night. It stated on the RDR product page that if you pre-ordered with overnight shipping you would get it on release day, but this doesn't look to be the case. My tracking number shows that it is scheduled to arrive tomorrow.

I just wanted to let those without tracking numbers know that you may not be getting your game until tomorrow.

I just hope that there isnt an achievement to finish the main story in 30 hours (like there was in GTA4) because it made me want to rush through it.

For those who have yet to receive a tracking number, feel free to call customer service. For whatever reason, they have records of the tracking numbers, so the CSR was happy enough to shoot me mine for RDR. Looks like both games are out for delivery and it looks like I'll be buying from GS in the future...

Your tracking numbers should be available on the Gamestop website, under Order History.

Mine is out for delivery right now, so the waiting game ends soon, I hope.

You would think so, but again, that's the whole reason I called. Tracking number for RDR is labeled "N/A" even though its status is shipped.

Alan Wake however shipped AFTER yet it lists a number.

Again, call if you haven't received one yet.

Actually funny you mention it. I just beat GTA IV and took me 43 hours. It's a good length really. Maybe watching the gametrailers review disappointed me a bit as they talked about getting a solid 20 hours out of it. Afterwards it was mentioned the "side challenges" seemed a bit mundane and unrewarding.
Alright, when they give you your tracking number, where do you put it in? UPS/FedEx?
If it starts with "1Z" then it's UPS

By the way, IGN said the main quest was 20 hours long, so if you spend time doing side quests/random stuff it will last twice as much (or more).

got no free swag last night at midnight.. it was a huge clusterfuck at the pace, fl store.. had people in both lanes trading shit in at 12am, and the store guys would try to sell each one at least 5 different preorders coming out while about 80 people were waiting to get the game.
College students smoking weed? Sounds like they were acting their age.
LOL. Perhaps you're right. But then again there was a 15 year old in that crowd who had call his dad at midnight b/c he wasn't old enough. Maybe he should have acted his age. But then again...........

Hopefully they are the minority, but we all know different. Hit the friends up for multi-player. I guess the contact didn't make them more tolerable, lol.

Yeah, the GameStop "collector's edition" for 360 is essentially a cardboard slip saying "Collector's Edition", and a slip of paper with a code to get the Deadly Assassin outfit, and to download the soundtrack on the Rockstar site.

There are no extra missions to speak of, unless those missions are part of the process to obtain the Assassin outfit.

Note: you don't get to wear the outfit once you obtain it, you need to complete missions to unlock "pieces of cloth" to give to a tailor. He makes the outfit. So perhaps the missions for the Deadly Assassin outfit are the "exclusive missions".

Basically the "Collector's Edition" moniker is pretty feeble. It's the outfit and a download code for the soundtrack. That's it.

Are the Special Edition goodies inside the game case?

I'm wondering if I should just crack my regular edition open and start playing before my lone day off this week turns out to be a bust. Otherwise I'll have to wait til next week to dive deep into this game.
Has anyone who preordered from GS gotten their 10 dollar code yet?
No. I believe they have a buffer of a couple of days AFTER your order ships.
Are the Special Edition goodies inside the game case?

It has a cardboard sleeve identifying it as the "Special Edition". The code for the outfit, along with other detailed information how to retrieve the soundtrack are on a card on the INSIDE of the case...

Yeah, there's two pieces to it being a "special edition". The cardboard slipcover, and the single piece of paper inside the case. I'm not sure if the box's SKU is different from the cardboard SKU. I'll have to check.

Luckily I have both sitting in front of me. And to confirm, they are the SAME SKU.
