The Reduced Price Guide FAQ/OP has been moved to the SECOND post.

Below is SIX MONTHS or so(counting January 2010) of guide drop info. If you want to see the full list, please refer to the second post of the Reduced Price Guide Thread X that can be found HERE .

CE/SE/LE=HARDCOVER GUIDE

Went in to BB today for a remote start for my car and started browsing the clearance section. They had the Fallout New Vegas CE guides on the rack for $19.99. The yellow tag was plain with the price hand written. The tag with the SKU was still on the spine (SKU: 1408457). There were 3 on the shelf and one disappeared while I was still in the store.

Has this guide been pennied or is this a possible step they take before pennying them? My store is notorious for pre-pulling guides before they penny.

Seems like something that some stores do when they have a lot of overstock. One bestbuy near me had Resident Evil 5 guides at 50% off for awhile because they had enough to fill the guide rack with it alone.
 
I picked up Fallout New Vegas CE for $7 today off of the clearance table at my local BB, it was hand written and had to be overwritten at the register.
 
Picked up a free GE007 guide today at GS. For once the employees weren't all uptight. The guy ringing me out showed it to his manager, who said give it to him. Then he explained it wasn't supposed to be out there so they couldn't sell it, so it was my lucky day. :D

BTW, any BB employees have any info about tomorrow? ;)

A bunch of those make sense...FF13, AC:Brotherhood CE, and Halo Reach CE should hopefully be dropping soon too.

Only 1 store in my whole area has MvC3 guide available in-store so this may be a 1cent drop. Confirmations??

Just woke up and saw the email of a potential drop so I looked into what changed that I could find from the last time I document the page. Here's all the stuff that dropped off the site with their SKU's. Not sure if this means a drop or what but some of these are odd to drop off the site, they kept the old Mass Effect 2 guide but dropped the new PS3 one of the site for example.

I am going on a pretty long drive tomorrow and there are at least 3 Best Buys on the way so I would love some confirmation on some of these guides when we can.
 
Crap... A good drop. I possible only want one guide off that list, and the rest I'll just take as much as I can.
But all the BB in my area pull guides like the dickens...
 
Do most of you guys actually have price scanners in your stores? The two stores closest to me are both fairly new but neither has a price scanner. I ask this because I would go check on some prices but aside from bringing a bunch of guides to the CS desk (which will draw attention), I'm not sure how I could price check.

Nope. Neither of my local BB stores have scanners in the store, so that's why I always wait till a drop has been verified to go in and grab some guides.:D I've tried checking stuff before, but it's a huge pain in the ass if nothing has dropped.:cry: It's even worse if stuff HAS dropped though, as the employees immediately note the penny price on some of the guides and are suspicious when you say you only want the penny stuff.
 
I am new to the guide portion of CAG.
My local best buy has a ton of the guides on here.
My question.
Can they deny me? I ask because they fucking hate me there. I always ttry to do toys r us price matches and they always give me hell. Can they tell me no just because?

A: Whoa, hold your horses there, pardner! First of all, not a question. Second, just because something is on the shelf, the clerk does NOT have to sell you that item. Most stores are PRIVATE property and as such can deny you just about anything they want - including a sale. The best advice is to not be rude, not be arrogant, and just try hard to get them to have pity on you.
 
Looks like a fun list if we can confirm the drop. Wont be able to so myself until 11 but Im sure there are a few cags already on the hunt as we speak.
 
Whoops, sorry. I read it all a while ago and must have missed that. My apologies.
I won't bother then, it is the worst best buy in the world. They act like I'm a satan worshipping child molester when I try to get a price match, I can imagine what the reaction to 40 + price guides would be.

Dissidia 012, Marvel Vs Capcom, and Mass Effect 2(ps3 version) also were odd ones. Still odd they aren't on the site anymore in general.

My store doesn't have scanners, but I used to go up and check guides frequently for CAG when we didn't have any active BB employess / a way to predict drops.

They know me as "the penny guy" which is a blessing at one store and a curse at the other.

I too was known as the penny guy for a while at both BB and GS around here, but after the crackdown at both places I have to be there at opening when BB gets rid of guides or they're pull 90% of the time anymore.

I used to enjoy going out of town for work when I drove regularly for a car dealer, as they were letting me hit up previously untapped stores. But since gas has spiked so ridiculously I've been stuck at the auctions we would hit whenever we were going anymore.:cry:
 
Well Im not sure how this was missed but Gamstop pennied out the Fable 3 collectors guide and the Civillization V guides back on the April 13th. My buddy that works at Gamstop stopped buy and told me about it and he had a Fable CE guide with him. Went up the street to my local store and they had a stack of them and the Civi V guide there. Got the all the Fables in the end but couldnt get the other one.

Thats what I thought, lol. I didnt check the board I just figured it had been reported sence it was alomost 2 weeks ago. I was checking for a drop today, lol
