The Reduced Price Guide FAQ/OP has been moved to the SECOND post.

Yah, just search on amazon for the Phantom Hourglass collectors edition guide, and you'll see what I mean. You wouldn't happen to want to trade me one or send one my way would you? I want to collect the Zelda hardcover CE guides. Literally in love with them.
 
Managed to grab a Duke Nukem CE guide and Mass Effect 2 for 2 cents. Then I tried to use a gift card on the purchase the girl just said don't worry about it and threw 2 pennies into the register for me.

That's great, I just traded 2 copies of that to Amazon for $11. I honestly never knew it had much value, I couldn't trade or sell them for the longest.
Oh well, Resident Evil Archives went for a $100+, I didn't wanna get rid of it but that was too much damn credit.

Whoa! Thanks for the heads up! I locked in $106 at Amazon for Archives. I was hoping to get $50 for it several months back. I've got another copy at work I'll have to decide whether to keep or not.
 
Resident Evil Archives 2 is available now to buy too - ordered it in August and after like 5 backorder emails from Amz it finally shipped. Curious if it will have the same value as the first one. I have Archives 1, but RE is one of my "have to have everything" series for guides so prob will keep it, even for the $106.

They weren't at very many places, so it wasn't easy to find. For that kind of money that they're giving for it, I can certainly part company with mine.

If you're curious about RE Archives 2 gaining in value, buy a second one and hold onto it for a while. You might get lucky.
 
Probably a good idea for the RE Archives 2.

I sold my only new Raising the Bar 3 years ago for $180, so the demand for that's been up there for a while.

Actually I had 2-3 of those at one point.:cry: It was one of the better ones I managed to score from BB back when I was going all over creation for guides when I first joined CAG.;) Unfortunately I traded 2 of them to other CAG's before I started really keeping track of guide values and pricing my stuff accordingly.

I ended up selling my last copy to someone from Amazon over the summer for around $110.;) But that was AFTER a protracted nickel and dime undercutting war between myself and 2-4 other sellers, where we each kept lowering our prices by just enough to be the lowest priced seller at that point.:whistle2:#
 
Any idea if Borderlands GOTY guide will be on clearance. I found one near me and it was in really good condition. I would like to have it but not for 25-30 dollars.

edit: it doesn't show up on BB.com either so maybe soon?

Thanks for this Shrike. The price has actually gone down a little bit on ebay and this will be painless for me to get some amazon credit. Locked that in along with a spare Dragon Age:Origins CE guide I picked up a month ago for $5. Also sending in my 2nd copy of this:

It was $59.95 earlier this morning when I locked mine it :D


And yeah that is funny that the bundle is less. Same thing with the Mass Effect 1 bundle. Artbook solo is more than artbook + guide.

I broke up the artbook/guide bundles when I sold em off to Amazon a while ago. I think at the time the artbooks were getting $30 each while the guide was maybe $6-7 at most. I'm trying to think if it's been a year since I traded to them last, since I think I still have 1-2 of the artbooks around here someplace.:D;)
 
Mass Effect is the same. Art of Mass Effect $47.xx and bundle $6.xx. Do they not expect the actual art book in the bundle? If there is only 1 ISBN matching the guide, that could be the case. I've had a few of these pass through my fingers.
 
I can't decide if I want to trade in my SO:TLHI guide. On one hand I do plan on playing the PS3 version on the other $78 in amazon credit is sooo tempting.

I did submit 2 batches of trade in's earlier today for $263.48 (which will pay off all my amazon pre-orders through March) :D


EDIT: Just checked when I bought it. Back in March of last year. Bought it for $13.59. Boy do I wish I had bought like 10 or more ;)
 
shit, well I just submitted a SO:TLHI for trade, debating on doing a second..

now I'm that much closer to getting The OC boxed DVD set that I've wanted for like ever!

Thank you letting me know about this. I have two of the art book.

Back in '09 I ordered the guide/art book combo from a 3rd party seller for $13.76 total (well before it became rare). What I got in the mail was just the art book with some minor dings. I called the seller and they apologized and said someone sent me the wrong item and they sent out the proper item and told me to keep the art book.

I had been wanting to sell it on ebay for some time now, but was waiting till the price was in the $80 or so region, but it never seems to get there. So $50 is the average price for the book. This way I don't need to worry about ebay fees or anything like that and still get the $50 for it.
 
Like Pooky is with RE, I'm that way with Mass Effect. If the upcoming "Art Of The Mass Universe" covered everything in the add-on art book for the "CE" version of the ME guide, I'd sell back my ME guide to Amazon without a second thought.

The Assassin's Creed artbook, I'm fine with selling that off separately. Sorry to hear that dropped from $60 to $50.

Dang, now I cannot get that nor the bundle with guide for cheap .:| Just want one to go along with my collection.

I'm just giving him a hard time since he is one of the few CAGs I have met face to face. Although I probably would have given him a copy of the guide to trade if he would have split it with me. I think I still have 10 or 11 copies of the Uncharted Guide.

Which 4 guides did you lock in?
 
Guide rarity along with game rarity is very hard to predict. If any of those are going to be rare I would say it is RE Archives 2, followed by UC3 and ACR, then finally DN.
 
I didn't mean just of those I had meant of anything currently out right now, I would always assume CE would be worth more. I was joking about Duke because it is a penny guide now. I am thinking of picking up Resident Evil archives just because.

Generally your safest bets are with RPG guides. That said it isn't a guarantee that all of them will. For every Tales of Vesperia and Star Ocean you get a Last Remnant, Infinite Undiscovery or the like.

And you have your occasional oddity like Lego Star Wars TCS.

It seems like the current hot items are still AC:revelations and Skyrim CE. I have both of those. I will grab RE Archives 2 and Dark souls (it looks really sweet and is cheap at gamestop right now). Maybe some others but if anyone else has more information I am all ears.
 
look on amazon for AC:R CE guides, sold my first copy for $55 plus shipping. They are around 45 right now. Weird cause every store around me has them in stock.
