I started to watch District B13 on Saturday evening, but I had been drinking at the bar during the Michigan State/Michigan game, so I kept nodding off. I'll finish the film tonight.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning

I saw this today and I thought it was done really really well. Easily the best horror movie made in the past 3 years or so IMO.

You must not see many horror films then.
On FX? I wasn't watching, but saw that it was on until 8.
I believe amc, which would explain why nearly every curseword was silenced.

Care to name some released sometime in the past 2 or 3 years that you think is better?

I go and see a lot of horror movies in the theaters when they are there, and most of the time they are just mediocre.

I'm just going off of memory, so

Okee Dokey:

The Devil's Rejects (Trumps all. Actually, I think I'll watch this one tonight)

Dawn of the Dead '04 remake
The Hills Have Eyes - (Pretty good and definitely better than Aja's High Tension)
Saw
Dead and Breakfast

Now I'm stretching it here a bit, but if you throw High Tension's implausible story to the wind and the absurdity of how the events unfold in the film, and the fucking twist ending that was absolutely unneccesary to the plot as a whole and which ruined whatever mood and atmosphere the film had going for it, then you've got yourself an excellent slasher thriller/horror. But like I said, I'm definitely stretching it with this one.

Even with all of its absurdity, Cabin Fever is a fairly fun film and a pretty good horror flick.

Land of the Dead - Not horrible, but better than the TCM remakes IMO.

Honorable Mentions:

Shaun of the Dead (2004) - This would be in top, but I don't know if horror with comedic elements counts or not.
Hellboy - Might be a bit of a stretch, but kinda.
Night Watch
Shallow Ground

I'll try to think up some more.

Ok, off that list I agree that Shaun of The Dead is better. Saw was pretty good also. However Shaun>TCM: The Beginning>Saw

The rest of those movies I either disliked or thought they were "meh". Dawn of the Dead Remake and Land of The Dead were pretty mediocre IMO even though I really love zombie movies. The only ones off that list I havent seen are Nightwatch and Dead and Breakfast.

So you're telling me you thought that The Devil's Rejects was a "meh" movie? Right, o.k.

TCM was awful. I hate the TCM remakes. They lose their originality and that documentary rough feel taht the original has.

Saw is definitely better, though the second one isn't as good. I thought the Dawn remake was great.

The Hills Have Eyes is a better remake than the TCMs.

Ok, so I'm just going to assume you haven't seen the new TCM because it doesn't sound like you have. And for the record I didnt think the TCM remake was that great, but I really like the new one.

As for The Devils Rejects...it wasn't meh, but it wasn't something I liked very much at the same time. And The Hills Have Eyes was terrible IMO.
Saw was such a magnificent let down.
In what way? I thought for the atmosphere it set up and maintained (sp) for the length of the film it was excellent.

I felt that the new TCM was even worse then the original remake and up there in terms of bad remakes with The Omen among others. It was gory, but it, to me at least, came off as extremely lame. Even though one shouldn't necessarily base his opinion of a film on a rating site/review just look at what it is holding at IMDB, Rotten Tomatoes, and Metacritic:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0420294/

http://www.metacritic.com/film/titles/texaschainsawmassacrethebeginning?q=texas%20chainsaw%20massacre

http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/texas_chainsaw_massacre_the_beginning/

The Devil's Rejects ruled. Simple as that. Excellent film in the vein of the exploitation flicks of the 70s. Just look up my other posts on CAG about it if you want to see what I wrote about it.

And outside of the Dawn remake and maybe Willard, Hills Have Eyes was the only good remake to come out and a spectacular horror film especially considering the plot line that they had to work with.

It just bored me. Yea, the ending was a nice twist, but it didn't save what was generally a way to overhyped movie.

And the Dawn Remake

The Science of Sleep. I had no idea what the premise was going in, but wow, what a marvelous film. I suggest you don't read about the plot, and just go see it.

X-Men: The Last Stand - meh aside from a couple of decent action scenes this has to be the weakest film in the trilogy

FINALLY got to see Hard Candy. One of the most intense, twisted, sick, amazing, fucked up movies i've ever seen. Too much open ended shit, but I still loved it. Must see for Saw-type fans.
how was it?
It had its moments. Most of them were because of Lewis Black. You'll get more laughs out of an episode of The Daily Show, but if you like Jon Stewart, you should enjoy Man of the Year.

Currently in the middle of watching Toxic Avenger. I've heard about it but haven't seen it, thought it was time that I do.

The Breakfast Club on ABC Family.

"Eat my shorts." Fun stuff

It's been a long time since I've seen this movie (roughly six years), but I don't remember that much profanity being in it. Sure, on ABC Family, nearly everything was redubbed (and rather well, I might add), but it seemed like they said fuck every couple of minutes. I'm not an expert lip reader, so I could be wrong, but was it really that much?
Fight Club...for the first time...and I'm 27. How did I miss this movie?
You tell us. One of the most amazing movies ever.
Fight Club...for the first time...and I'm 27. How did I miss this movie?
Poor guy. Anyway, I saw Jackass Number Two. Didn't stop laughing once throughout the whole thing. Much, much better than the first.

Lucky Number Slevin. I thought this movie really sucked and can't recommend it.

Lucy Lui's character and sub-plot was almost completely unnecessary. Especially the plot-twist where Bruce Willis didn't really kill her. I mean why would Bruce care that she has his picture. Hartnett could have easily deleted it from the phone while she was sleeping or talked his way out of the situation.
