So I went to a doctor back in July for my gallstones. Despite all of the bullshit, I paid them on my flex card. It processed and all was well until I got a bill, saying I hadn't paid. I waited a few months to see if it would work itself out in the billing process and it didn't so I called this morning. After spending over 3 hours on the phone between the flex card servicer, my insurance company, my parent corporation who funds the flex account and the doctors office, I provided my copy of the credit card receipt and the doctor's office is saying that's not sufficient evidence that I paid the bill. The insurance company and credit card company say that it is. The doctor's office still planned to send me to collections despite this. After arguing for over 45 minutes with the billing department, they decided to "write it off". In healthcare, unpaid bills are tax write-offs for the doctor. So not only did they falsely bill my insurance company, they plan to commit tax fraud since they, in reality, know I paid the bill since I have proof, refuse to call their credit card merchant to confirm the authorization and transaction numbers.
