With the addition of Social Groups and Blogs, we've seen a few violations of rules that some of you may have forgotten. All of the Rules and Terms of Service that apply to the Forums apply everywhere on cheapassgamer.com.

The main issues we've seen so far that you may need to remember:

  • No illegal activities are to be discussed.

  • Any Not Safe For Work images which you feel the need to post in a blog or on a group, MUST be behind a spoiler tag AND have to be clearly labeled NSFW. This is a courtesy to your fellow CAGs who may be viewing the Site while at work or in other viewer sensitive venues.

On the forums, NSFW images may only be posted in the OTT. Again, behind a spoiler and with a NSFW label.

  • Obviously, links to or images of pornography are not permitted anywhere within the Site.

Somewhat on topic, what constitutes "illegal activities"?

Can we link to public domain torrents on sites that also have illegal torrents? Can we discuss invites to private torrent trackers which host public domain torrents (in addition to illegal torrents, but of course we're not interested in those ). None of that is illegal, nor is it a discussion of anything illegal. Seems sort of gray, though.

Go buy some 4 dollar apples and quit trying to rock the boat. You aint got shit to say about legal torrents and nobody wants to listen to you, even if you did have shit to say about them.

But so no one one asks, "Gwen, why'd you even bring it up in the first place??" The issue wasn't about torrents or pirating. Let's just say no social groups or blogs about Illegal Drugs are going to happen here.

Edit: Deleted two posts. Guys, keep it on topic and stop being absurd. I don't want to close this thread because I'm up for discussing things and believe that would be helpful.

Didn't you bring it up with "No illegal activities are to be discussed"? How was I supposed to know you were talking about drugs? Usually when a forum mod or admin says not to talk about anything illegal they're talking about piracy, so I just assumed -- but regardless of assumptions, torrents/pirating falls under illegal activity, which is part of what this topic is about...

If you don't think it's fit for asking here that's fine, but I don't really like the insinuation that it's completely off topic.

There's your answer. It's up to the mods, and if they think it's a problem they'll delete the post. If not, it'll stay.

For your particular example (both questions are variations on one theme), I'd say the answer is no. If the torrent is public domain, odds are good that thirty seconds or less on Google will turn up a non-private, non-piracy-oriented tracker. Being too lazy to look that up isn't an excuse for linking to trackers that exist mainly for copyrighted content.
