ok i rented it at hollywood video and played it for around 3 hours and it reminds me of FFT. QUestion is would this game be worth Buying

36 bucks With no book or 55 Sealed (though dont think worth buying sealed if going to open to play )

OR should i stay with Phatom brave (that i havent open yet and only cost me 10 bucks)

cause i heard BRAVE Is just like DISGAEA

is it worth buying it . Same with the LA Tactics game (can get it for 30)

If you like them, get them. We really can't justify and evaluate your purchases based on your tastes, only our own.

Personally I really liked Disgaea and I have about 100+ hours in it. I have Phantom Brave and La Pucelle, but they're both sealled. I have a second copy of La Pucelle I'll give you for $20 shipped if you want.

If you liked the first few hours then you will most likely love the rest of it. There is just so much to do in that game. I've put in almost 200 hours into my copy. It's the only one of my games I've felt was worth full retail price. I think it was the humor in this game that I loved the most.

La Pucelle I played after Disgaea which might explain why I didn't like it as much. I got about 20 hours in before something else caught my attention. Disgaea is the successor to La Pucelle and improved on much of the gameplay. I ended up finding La Pucelle kinda boring which is too bad since it's a good game in its own right.

I got all three and I find Disgaea to be the best one overall.

Alot of hidden things, item world, ultimate weapons and god like stats.

well mostly saying if they are mostly like clones of each other then it might not be worth spending the 50 bucks to get the game . I will see if i still like it 20-40 hours into playing it. BUt then i probally will have it beat. Was just wondering how closely related the 3 games are .. Meaning are they mostly the same game or Major differences

They're all based on the same system more or less with changes between the games. The popular opinion is that Disgaea is the best of the 3 though as it improved on La Pucelle's system a lot and didn't change as drastically as Phantom Brave...

No, it is an overhyped game. Honestly the first 10 hours are the best and after that the story ceases to be funny and the combat becomes repetitive.

Anything over 30 bucks without the instruction book is a blatant rip off. I wouldnt touch it if my life depended on it. You can get it cheaper than 50 brand new if you watch for deals.

But Disgaea is definatley worth owning. Cool story, tons of replay value in multiple endings and of the three is probably closest to FF tactics in general play mechanics.

I really don't see what the big deal with Disgaea is; personally I think it's overrated due to how semi-tough it is to find.

I have it and have put around 30 hours into it. I have several problems with the game. First, you only gain EXP when you kill an enemy. I liked FFT's system for EXP a lot better. In Disgaea, this setup single-handedly led me to have a really powerful Laharl and nobody else in my crew really being worth a damn.

The character class system is alright, but FFT's was way better since you could switch jobs without "transmigrating" your character. Transmigrating is a cool idea, but it takes a lot of time. Which brings me to one of my big complaints:

Most cool, unique features of this game are only that great if you plan on putting 100+ hours into it. You can level up to 999! You can go through the item world for EVERY SINGLE ITEM! Great, but holy crap, who actually does all that? I have little room to talk, being an avid gamer, but jeez. If you're actually doing all this, please, get up, go outside and contribute to society in some way.

I mean, I guess if you only had to own one game or something, Disgaea would be cool since it has so much to do. I just feel like it's gimmicky, overrated, and doesn't begin to approach the greatness that was FFT. And the storyline was alright, pretty humorous, but certainly not gripping or serious in any way. If you're an anime fan, which I'm not, you might dig it.

For all I've said, don't get me wrong, I LIKE Disgaea. I just don't see the big deal; I'd probably give it around a 7/10.

Many people have put over 100 hours into this game. It's almost infinitely replayable (thanks to the Item worlds) and is definitely worth buying.

lucky, i dont have any store around here that has disgaea..., i would really want to rent it to see what its like =(, anybody in so cal, oc , know where i could find it?

I played over 100 hours of Disgaea. It's my favorite tactical RPG of all time. La Pucelle and Phantom Brave are good, but can't compete. Disgaea has a funnier story, better characters, and doesn't piss me off like Brave's summon system. The item world is crazy deep, too. It was my favorite game of 2003 next to Star Wars: KOTOR. I recommend it wholeheartedly.

If you go to gameinformer.com and do a search, you can find my old review of it. I'd link to it myself, but the site doesn't like my computer for some reason so I can't access it.

For fans of the genre, Stella Deus is also really good. It plays similar to the above-mentioned three, but is a little more serious. Better graphics, too.

I like it but in my opinion it's not a must have.
It should be said I really like Tactical RPGs, so this me saying this is not biased.
I, as others have stated, think that this game is overrated. Its really fun, but I would much rather play my copy of FFT on PS1 or on my DS than play Disgaea.
