Replaying past games you quit

Have any of you guys gone back to play a game or games that you previously quit thinking it wasn't your kind of game only to realize that you actually like the game a lot?

I had this experience with the Mass Effect series. I played it a few years ago and just could not get into it (I think I got stuck on a mission). I was listening to a old Giantbomb podcast and they were raving about how good the games were. So I did some research on how to play/level up your character and decided to give these games another shot. All I can say is wow, now I know why these games got all of the praise it received. Currently playing ME2 and can't wait to complete the trilogy to prepare for the next.

Now I'm thinking about doing the same with the Batman Arhkam games. I played the first 2 and quit a couple of hours in. The hype of the Arkham Knight is too strong. :).
 
I stopped playing Assassin's Creed Rogue because the beginning doesn't make sense and so many open world activities were locked.

Then I heard that the world really opens up in Episode 4 so I went back in.

All I can say is I'm glad I did because it has one of the best Assassin's Creed stories and by the time you hit episode 4 all of the open world activities and side missions that are unlocking finally begin to make sense. I know alot of folks are going to miss this gem of a game but it really is a great PS3 send-off to the series. 

 
Most recent one for me was Stuntman Ignition. Was one of many games I bought years ago when Movie Gallery was selling all their used games for $5. Played the first couple levels, put the game down and never picked it back up except for a boosting session to knock out most of the multiplayer achievements.

There's another forum I visit which has different achievement related challenges, with one of them being where there is a theme each week, and the goal is to unlock an achievement that fits that theme. This week, the theme was "millionaire", and seeing Stuntman had an achievement that fit the theme, figured it might be an easy enough submission.

Turned out, I got the achievement an hour into playing the game again and for some reason, it just clicked with me and have been playing it on and off this week. Been in a rut both gaming and achievement related recently and this game surprisingly seems to be getting me back into the swing of things. Don't see myself ever 100% it, but getting through each level at least once will make me feel better about this game having collected dust.

 
I have this for almost every JRPG I've ever played with a couple exceptions. I just lose interest after 20 hours or so. There's lots I should go back to (Ni No Kuni, Lost Odyssey, a couple Final Fantasy's) but just can't bring myself too. Although I do find it takes me a little bit to get back into them after taking a break. 

 
Bought Max Payne 3 on day 1, played a little bit, sat it down, and picked it back up last week and did the whole campaign and now working my way up in ranks in MP

 
Kudos for playing Mass Effect. It's the best series of all time, imho. And yes, play the Arkham games. Especially the first, that one is a gem.

I've gone back a few times. assassins creed brotherhood, the first AC too. The first Bioshock and Halo 4 were like that too.

Mass Effect is number 1 of my top 3 trilogies of last gen. Arkham Asylum is a classic. Arkham City is a good follow up but something just felt off. It seemed like they took the gameplay designed for Asylum and put it into this huge city. The better parts of Asylum, IMO, is when I was in doors and not flying around the city.

I just finished Splinter Cell Conviction after quitting it a few years ago and I'm glad I did. I also quit Dragon Age: Origins, traded it, and repurchased it.

I did the same thing. I got MP3 not long after launch and just wasn't digging it. I jumped back into it last year, and I can honestly say that it's in my top 5 games of all time.

But more recently, I got back into Splinter Cell Blacklist. I started it when I picked up the Paladin Edition Aircraft LE on sale at Gamestop early 2014, and it was good, but I just didn't stick it out past the first 2 or 3 campaign missions. I jumped back in a couple weeks ago, and I immediately picked up the remaining SC games I didn't have and and am enjoying the whole series. On that note, if anyone is inerested in playing Blacklist or Conviction, hit me up on XBL and send me an add. Conviction is my top choice for SC games.

 
^I should check those out for sure. My favorite is still Chaos Theory.

Last game I probably did this with was RDR. Got it cheap on a Black Friday deal but couldn't get into it and traded it away pretty quick. Got a good deal on the GOTY version a couple years back and tried it again and I was hooked.
 
Dragon Age Inquisition. I waited so long for it, played about 1/3 of the way through and its just so boring. I have zero motivation to start it back up but I want to finish it one of these days. I doubt I will though.

I recently decided to give the AC series another try because I've heard that the games open up more as you play them. The first one I tried was AC3 and I gave up after a couple of hours because it seemed way too linear. Hoping this time around the game is much more fun.

Conviction is easily the best. Sure, Blacklist has more game mechanics and the levels are way bigger with more options at tackling the mission at hand, but I just think Conviction was better. Plus, it can be had at Gamestop for $2.69 http://www.gamestop.com/xbox-360/games/splinter-cell-conviction/65497

The only problem is that the online community is pretty much dead even though the servers are still live. You're going to need someone (like me) if you want to play the super fun co-op game mode. Hopefully Convictions goes free with Games With Gold so it will boost the community again

I have a few games that I haven't played in a while. Should get to it. Anyways, the most recent is probably Batman Arkham Origins as I quit playing it back in December and just got back into it only to realize that I was a couple missions to the end.
