Resident Evil 4 Wii - $19.99 on Black Friday! 750,000 copies sold around the globe!

Man the Chicago Typewriter is the SHIT. Since I bought it, I have yet to get hit even once, and I just mow everything in my path down with the greatest of ease.

I just pick up ammo and stuff to sell so I can afford the other bonus weapons during my next playthrough (can't wait to get the Handcannon).

For some reason I thought the professional mode was unlocked at the beginning, oh well I have to play it again anyways for the PRL. I took my sweetass time, like 32 hours, 1007 kills, 90% hit ratio.
I just found Leon... yeah, I'm not that far. I'm getting used to the controls though.
So... you're at the opening scene of the game? ;)

I just finished a session of RE4 and I haven't been this excited for a game like this in a loooooooong time. This game has me telling myself, "OMFG this shit is AWESOME!! It pains me to turn the console off and take a break.

Hands down this is the best RE game I've played and I would definitely put it up there with some of the best games of all time. And YES the controls have a lot to do with it. I'm sure I wouldn't be this excited if I had to fumble around with slow-as-hell analog sticks to aim. I was already convinced of the controls before this game, but now I can never play a shooter like this with a controller ever again.

Before I didn't care, but now I really want RE5 or something like it to come to the wii. Even if you have the PS360 how can you play it without the awesome Wiimote??

conjenlo conjenlo conjenlo conjenlo qiero matar
I always took both paths anyways, its fun taking on the Bella sisters and Gigante gives better $$$.
Yeah, me too. I had too much ammo so I actually decided to go both ways since I'd get more money.
Those dogs are the strongest enemies in the game. When they jump on me they always, ALWAYS, leave me with 2 bars of health. It doesn't matter how big my health meter is they always drop me down to 2 bars in one hit. I just fought the first regenerator (I think) and he didn't take as much damage off me as those damn dogs.
I thought the dogs were easy too... that's kinda weird that they hurt you so much. I only have 2/3 of the max meter and I'm able to take two hits and still have 2 blocks of health left. Are you playing on Pro? Maybe that's why.

I'm at the part with two of the blind claw guys. I don't know if I should take 'em down or just run past them. I think I'll just rocket launch their asses. I really wanna finish the game and start again with all the awesome guns.

Maybe he didn't pick up enough yellow herbs :p.

Don't waste your rocket launcher on those claw guys, they're pretty easy, I saved the rocket for Verdugo. Just snipe the 2 minions and walk left or right and wait until they path back up and snipe one of the guys in the back, rinse repeat.

Mercenaries is as hellish as ever. I swore I wouldn't start it; now I must unlock the handcannon yet again, and go through professional mode, and do a 3rd round of normal armed with all the super weapons... I can't believe I forgot how fun this game was.
Have any resident RE4 badasses figured out if the game was balanced more like the PS2 version or the GC version?
Enemy placement seems more or less spot on with the GC version as far as ambushes. I never played the PS2 version, what's the difference?

I think there are more enemies this go-round, but that's largely due to my not sucking anywhere near as bad this time as I did last time.

Noticed something
for village/castle, and the repeated 'big' enemies, you always fight 4 of them, one normally, one in tight quarters, then two of them, this applies to chainsaw, blind claw dudes and el gigantes, not including the chainsaw guys in the train scene

Are the new Ada missions from the PS2 version worth me playing through the whole game again?

I've only beaten the GC version.

If they're your only motivation, no.

You should play this because you think RE4 is awesome, not for the uninspiring but still satisfying Ada missions.
So... you're at the opening scene of the game? ;)
heh, opps... um, I just freed the spanish dude from the cabinet...:D

Did any of you bother fighting Salazar's guard? I remember just running from him as soon as the elevator came in the PS2/GC version. I'm not sure if it's worth trying to beat this guy though... I'm guessing it'll probably take a rocket launcher to kill him quickly but I'd rather save that for another boss whom actually requires it.

Unnecessary, but the RL isn't really needed for anyone else.
Salazar is cake if you use the Broken Butterfly on him

I think it took me about 15 Broken Butterfly shots and a fair amount of TMP shots, both with the highest firepower possible at that point, and all 4 gas canisters to take him down without a rocket launcher. It can be done, just save a fair amount of magnum ammo. You don't need very much for Salazar.

I just got to the lake. I'm a little over 2 hours and I feel like I'm flying through it so far. This really is one of the best games ever made.

I tore through the game on Sunday with the Chicago Typewriter. I beat it in 7 hours and some change (would have been shorter but a friend called in the middle of a play session and we chatted for about 30 minutes).

Now I'm trying to be get a 5-Star on Mercenary Mode with everyone to unlock the Handcannon.

I'll play through Professional Mode too for the PRL, but from what I saw in a few youtube vids, it's not very impressive (you have to charge up a shot for it to be lethal, otherwise it just stuns them, and you can only use it against Las Plagas enemies [thus you can't shoot inanimate objects with it, which is mandatory for certain parts of the game).

Like javeryh, I caved. Buy.com had free shipping with 7% off, and I had a $5 gift certificate collecting dust. Total: $21.96. I have no will power. :'(

See, I don't know if it's worth it for the money. I haven't sold a single treasure yet (why bother?) since I don't need it yet.

I think I'll pass for now, I plan to go through the game again anyways and I have no need for money. I just want to go through the game again with all the weapons maxed out.

Damn, not sure if I'll have the time to replay this then.

i think i noticed something different from the gc
I remember when u face the los gigantes around the lava pit. I remember after you killed one in the pit and beat the other, when you left the room and came back their was gold in the center of the room from the gigante you melted, but in the Wii version there was no gold

Really? That'd be great because I just tried to take on both of them at once... it wasn't very fun.

I just used the RL on the guard guy. I figured it's probably lot more work to try and avoid him for 4 minutes. I just bought another one to use against Salazar.

Yeah, I noticed that too, I thought I had just gone through the wrong door or waited too long or something.
Damn, not sure if I'll have the time to replay this then.
The extra missions are definitely worth it... along with the sweet controls scheme.

Except the fucking rifle scope... gyaah... I don't know if I'm just not used to it yet, or if it really is too sensitive.
Does anyone know where I can find the entire story of RE from part 1 - 4?
Wikipedia.
Or you could just get Umbrella Chronicles when it comes out this fall.

is it me or is bristol myers squibb logo similar to umbrella

Just beat it.

15 hours, 84% accuracy, 930 kills, died 30 times. I don't remember where my death count was the first time I played it on the GC, but a number over 100 stands out.
Any chance you got a Wallpaper sized version of this? :D
I could probably whip one up for you in Photoshop real quick.

What's your desktop resolution?

I'm playing Pro mode now and it doesn't seem like its harder. Anyone know why some of the corpse doesn't decay?

Just finished up Chapter 2 on Separate Ways. That's a lot of fun and very well done, with its interweaving through the main game.

My suggestion? Don't put off playing through it after you finish the main game. For the best effect you want every piece of the main game fresh in your mind!

I'm curious to know how anyone got good scores in the shooting range with the clunky analog sticks. I've got pinpoint pixel perfect accuracy here and it still took me like a hundred tries to get all the rows.

Use the TMP

Finished the game in one sitting. 11 and a half hour of playing later im now going to replay it.

Its easier the second time around even when its on pro because you get to keep all the weapons that you had before. And becuase youve just played it and know what to expect.

Gonna play through everything else now and then going to try to unlock all the guns.

No, you don't get to keep anything on pro unless its your 2nd round of pro mode. The only thing you can get are the costume changes.
Beating Seperate Ways is a good idea so you can get the third Costume, Ashley is like unkillable with that knight armor and it makes Pro easier when she's around.

Blah! So I'm watching my sister today, and decided to bring my Wii up to the tv in the family room. It's a 32inch sony vvega, and I have the wii hooked up with composite cables.

Anywho, the picture on this tv is far superior to my hdtv in the basement over component. :[ On my HD, everything is noticeably more blurry. This sucks :whistle2:/

Ashley is a college student according to the manual, so she could be 17-24 at the two extremes (late birthday, and extra year of college with early birthday) so her move on Leon isn't that creepy, because the 17 isn't that realistic.

I just got good picking them off with the pistol.

Yep, that's how it goes when you're blowing up an old game onto a large screen. The game is really blurry on my 60" SXRD. Still fun. Drastic change going from that to the Darkness on my 360.

So the Plagas Removal Laser?

Lame. I'm all for unnecessarily high-powered weapons as a fun reward for multiple playthroughs, but where's the fun in something that automatically targets and destroys EVERYTHING on-screen? I'd rather take a juiced-up Chicago Typewriter to everything. Now that makes for good times.

When you first fight krauser
can you kill him or do you have to run away and collect those things he mentions?
