Resident Evil 5 -Gen. Discussion - Lost In Nightmares & Desperate Esacpe DLC Out Now!
I think that's just RE5's score. I dunno. The DLC looks....interesting...to say the least. I have some points right now (800 saved for the next Halo 3 map pack) so...probably not going to get this unless I hear something really cool about it.
I didn't even think about that. You're probably right. With all the decent sales on XBLA stuff lately, I'd rather buy that stuff.

I really need someone to help me get an A rank on some Mercenaries Maps, most notably Experimental Factory. I must unlock everything but that level is friggin' hard.

That was actually one of the easier ones for me. If you can get a lot of enemies on your ass, pick up the combo time a little ways up the ramp from the spike trap, and then lure the enemies towards the trap.

Spike Trap? I have no idea what you're talking about. You should help me unlock some Mercenaries stuff. That level, especially, because it's bullshit. Closed quarters, about twice as many enemies as usual. Not cool.

Speaking of Mercs, it simply boggles my mind some of the scores I see. I got like 100,000 on Public Assembly and thought that was at least decent. Wow.

Anyway, the spike trap is this fenced off area with a bunch of holes in the ground and blood. There's a button you can melee, which causes a bunch of spikes to thrust up and kill anything unfortunate enough to be in the area.

Like I said, I need help, and I'd rather have a 2nd person as the maps are set up for 2 people. It's a nightmare trying to get 20,000 by myself and staying alive, let alone 40,000 (80,000 for Duo).

the dlc is not too bad. can be a bit crazy though :p however another slap in the face since this is *already on the disc!!*. What's next? the character add on pack containing, Berry, Leon, Hunk...and TOFU!!!! all for 800 points :\ not to mention spending MORE badges , bah!!

I think it speaks your it self why not to buy. you get no new maps or characters

Capcom defended it self by saying the DLC has new features which go "above and beyond the initial scope" of the game

IGN, you are downloading a key that unlocks content already on the RE5 retail disc

Yeah, we cannot assume that it is simply an unlock key. I have heard that the versus mode reuses assets from the game so they would not be adding any new models, textures, etc. The only thing they would need to add is the menu for versus mode and the code that makes up the mode; and 1.8 MB is a reasonable size for more lines of code for a versus mode that has two game types. I am not defending the versus mode—I am against it—but I think it is unfair to assume they are guilty of selling something already on the disc.

This.

I've done plenty of pc game modding myself and if you don't add images or models (adding only new scripts) the file sizes can be very small.

It was stated some time ago (I forgot where I read it) that there was going to be 2 new guns you can unlock for the main game if you buy the DLC. Can anyone who bought the DLC provide any new insight? I'm still debating whether or not I should get this. I was hoping team slayers would be like a 4-player Co-op Mercenaries mode.:bomb:

There are no obvious indicators of how to unlock any new weapons if such is even possible. Buying all the characters doesn't seem to do it.

Tied to achievements perhaps?

I think they would've announced something like that if it were true, or at least uncovered already. While rockets are great, I wish they brought back the Chicago Typewriter because it was just a beast in the Wii version.

I played about 20 matches of versus last night, for $5 its totally worth it.

It's pretty hectic and a lot of players didn't know what to do at first, but once you get the hang of it, it's pretty cool.

Yeah it sucks they charged for it and both game modes play pretty much exactly the same, but for $5 no regrets.

Unlock key or not the DLC is still pretty disgusting. I mean there is a whole section in the strategy guide on versus mode. They left it out of the retail release to sell later.

After seeing a couple more videos on the Versus DLC, I think I'm going to actually purchase it once I get home.:bomb: I said to myself that I wouldn't support DLC that is already on the disc, but after seeing these videos, it seems like I'd enjoy it for $5 (or $2.50 if you do Shipwreck's half-priced content way of sharing it with another friend). I'll bite the bullet and give you guys my impressions once I get to play. Hopefully it'll be worth the price of admission.

I finally managed to unlock everyone and everything in Mercenaries Mode :) definitely feels like an Accomplishment.

EDIT: Man...that does kinda look like fun...

I don't know how much fun it would be shooting at each other using the RE mechanics, but the idea of playing Mercs competitively is definitely appealing. It's only $5, so I might bite. Wish there was more to it, though, like more stuff to unlock for the main game.

I love Mercs. As much as I love the main games of RE4 and RE5 (two of my favorite SP games ever), I have wasted so much time playing Mercs over the years. I love stuff like that and Nazi Zombies in WaW. Just mindless fun.

I'm kinda getting bored of RE5 right now. The only motivation I have right now (because I unlocked everyone in Mercs), unless I hear something about a super secret gun you get from another mode is to get infinite ammo for every weapon. And right now that's boiled down to me going through 6-2 as fast as possible to get 2,500 points for every 3-4 minutes of playtime. That's not very fun right now.

I mean...I could go through Story Mode on Normal and Veteran again, just for the hell of it, but that's not something I'm interested in doing, even though it'd only take me 3-4 hours to do each time.

Why does it kick you all the way back to the first versus menu when you try to join a game that's been filled before you were able to join it? You hit start, then go to custom match and search for what you want to play. A list of games appears. You try to join one but it says it's full and it kicks you all the way back to the first screen. So you have to hit start again and try to find another match. And it doesn't even remember your search options. :bomb:

It does the same thing for Mercenaries. Let's keep in mind that it's a Japanese style multiplayer game, meaning they don't quite get it.

Their thinking is if you get kicked out of a game you don't want to play anymore.

Did you complete every chapter on Amateur, Normal, Hard, and Proffessional?
I was just wondering because on the main menu there is a part that tells you what percent complete you are and noticed that it was chipping away at it when my wife was playing the easier mode. Do you get anything for getting 100% completion?

5-3 on Professional is a lot easier if you
use Flash rounds with the Grenade Launcher on Jill 7 or 8 times
.

To get 1000g, you don't have to beat Story Mode 4 times. You could technically do it once, but it'd be suicide and you'd have to piggyback on someone's game for a few seconds. I'm pretty sure you don't get anything for getting 100% there.

well, you just use what I said
for a stun. You still have to shoot the chestpiece afterwards.
It's just easier that way. Makes it go much, much faster.

It is REALLY slow-going trying to accumulate enough points for the unlimited magnum (15,000). I'm up to 8,000 right now getting about 1,000 at a time. I haven't beaten the game on Veteran yet though. Maybe I should just try doing that and I will accumulate the points and more treasure as I go.
If you have unlimited Rocket Launcher, play 6-2 over and over.
I don't have unlimited anything. I played through the game on Normal and beat it in 12:48. I've been going through on amateur trying to get "S" ranks on everything and get all of the BSAA medals. I'm still not doing the levels fast enough because I keep getting A or B ranks. I fully upgraded my pistol, my shotgun and my rifle so the option for unlimited ammo is there but I don't have the points to buy them yet (well, I have the 6,000 for the unlimited pistol ammo but I figure I'll just keep going until I can get the magnum).
Skipping cutscenes cuts a good 3 hours out of your game time.
Damn, I didn't know that even counted towards time. I've been skipping them on the replays though.

Is there a way to see how much total time it has taken me to ebat the game? Other than adding up the totals from the end up each chapter. Also, do you have to beat the entire game on the same level for the infinite rocket launcher, or can you mix the difficulties?

I have a question, is Resident Evil 5 Split-screen OFFLINE co-op? I notice that co-op is available for online play, but I can't find it for offline. Is there such a thing?

I think you have to start the game and have the second player press start at the beginning.

And no, it has to be strictly for the same difficulty, you cannot mix difficulties.

I did some major grinding for achievements over the weekend. I think getting 1,000 is doable (at least 930 depending on whether I want to make a run through Professional or not). I'd love to hear someone try and say they found all 30 BSAA medallions with a straight face without using guide. Some of them were so hidden I had trouble seeing them while using a video walkthrough.

Anyone know of any good places to get the achievements for deflecting the arrow with your knife or shooting a dude in the head while he is in mid-air? Those seem like they should be quick and easy. I still need to beat everything on Veteran and get "S" rankings on every level too. Do any of you have all of the unlimited ammo unlocked? The amount of points needed is insane. I have one of the Magnums on unlimited and it makes going through the levels much easier (although I still die a lot on Veteran since one shot takes most of your health).

For the deflecting an arrow achievement, the level where you begin in the train station is great. There are a few guys with them on top of the train cars. Just run up close to one of them them and keep slashing with your knife.

For the mid-air head shot, just play one of the levels with the tribesmen and use a shotgun. Wait for them to do that move where they jump at you and aim high.

1000/1000 and I'm done with this game forever. After dying 51 times on 5-3 in professional it is really easy to walk away from this game. I have no interest in the DLC. I eventually had to take away all weapons from the AI and just give them first aid.

Any of the crossbow guys in 2-1 should be easy for the knife bit. The ones around the dock would probably be best since they're far enough away that you'll have time to react to the bolt. Still, you can do it on a closer one if you're willing to have to anticipate the guy firing.

3-2 is best for the headshot. Jump down to the area in the middle and stand on one side of the large gap they all have to jump across to get to you. Aim up with a shotgun (the Ithaca is probably best if you have it upgraded) and fire as they're leaping across. Alternatively, on the same level you can wait at the edge of the platform you start on and wait for them to leap up the wall but you'll have to react a bit quicker. You can also try sniping them as they're jumping along the path to get at you but that's significantly harder.
Anyone know of any good places to get the achievement for shooting a dude in the head while he is in mid-air?
The Public Assembly area either in Mercenaries or in the main campaign. Just get on top of the bus and wait for them to jump at you. Any of the shotguns will do (fully upgraded for insurance), but I did it with
Jill's
Px4 handgun in Mercenaries since the critical head shot chance is 80%+.
