Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles! 950,000 sold! IGN: 7.9! 1-UP: 7.5! GT: 8.3!

ok I just played the Hunk mission....holy fucking shit this is hard...on purpose!!!

They really over did it. There are way too many zombies in close quarters, dogs, hunters, spiders, plants and so on in this level and very few health restores, and next to nothing on ammo!

Capcom ridiculously wanted you to prove that you can survive extreme cases with very few weapons.

haha... yeah, the Hunk mission is a bit tricky. If you're no good with the handgun, you're screwed. It helps to have the fully upgraded auto-pistol, too.

Since you've beaten the game, I ask you this... did you beat the 'special stage' yet? I've only been able to get to level 9, and I can't seem to find anything that indicates that it's WORTH beating. As in, I have no idea what, or if, you get for beating it.

the special stage? No I think I have to beat Hunk's mission in order to unlock that. I did upgrade the auto-pistol, but it starts me off with low ammo on that one. I played with machine guns and the assault shotgun yet I got my ass whooped. I will try this again when I get back from work.

Oh, sorry... I thought you meant that you had beaten it. Tips... go for as many criticals as possible, and try and save the auto-pistol for the end. Also, immediatly after you're at the front door of the police station, you move and are facing another set of double doors... shoot those. Secret room, with a nice surprise. :)

Where is this aut-pistol? I must have missed it.

I forget which mission it first appears in, but you should just randomly pick it up at some point. It's definitely after whichever mission you first get the Automatic HK in. I admit, eventually they ceased to be specific weapons to me, and they became more 'the one that fires quickly'. ;)

For reference, in case there's any confusion... it's NOT an automatic pistol to replace the standard pistol. It falls in the automatics weapon group... it's basically a MAC-10. It's a bit confusingly named.

ok, I finally beat Hunk's mission after like 5 tries.. holy shit that was hard. Now for those doors you mentioned, where are they? Are they in the room with all those desks and zombies but when you turn around a hunter comes in and you got to waste him? What exactly am I looking for? Did I pass it when I come to the central main area where the nemesis fired it's rockets at you in the RE3 scenario? only this time that room is full of spiders and hunters, plants? I ended up getting a B for that level... :|

next time I am going in with grenade launchers :)

Anyways I got the special stage unlocked.. what the fuck was that about!?!?!?

weird...and creepy when you have naked zombies crawl passed you so fast.

I just loved how the special stage had no explanation whatsoever. It took me about 2 tries before I even figure out what was even going on.

Anyway, the door.... yes, it's the room where the Nemesis attacks you, that now has spiders in it. Ok, when you enter the main hall of the station (with the statue) you'll hear pounding on the front door. It'll open, and a group of zombies come out. You'll immediatly turn from there, and for about 6 seconds be facing a set of double doors. THOSE are the ones you want.

I put it this way... picture the main hall of the station. Imagine you've just walked in the front door. The ones you want are the set that are the first set on your left.

Hope that helps.
I put a review of this game in the "Reviews" forum here. Check it out. It's not often I do reviews
Thanks, Peg.

I thought so... you know I fired a few rounds the first time and nothing happened, yet I fired more rounds this time and I got in, got a few ammos and health and the magnum :) Almost made it to the end the Wii locked up :( wow

that's never happened before :( but oh well. Hopefully it doesn't lead to a dead wii :|

THanks a lot!

Hey, no problem. I only mentioned it because once I got to the end of the game, I was perturbed by the fact that I was missing one more gun, so I figured you might be, too. Apparently when you fully upgrade it, it'll kill most bosses in about 3 shots, so that's nice.

Anyway, sorry about the locked up Wii. Never a good sign... though, on the brightside, I found that once you know what to expect, the Hunk level is MUCH easier, so at least redoing that shouldn't be too awful.

Heh, I already got the Magnum and the other Magnum from another mission. I am missing one handgun that's below the magnum...hmm what could it be?? Other than that, I have every other weapon in the game. It's too bad I can't carry it all or eles I would be one bad ass mother fucker :)

All joking aside, what you just said, in essence, is one of the other flaws of the game. Sure, you can upgrade the weapons, but you can only carry one at a time, and they aren't interchangeable.

Which means, of course, you basically have to KNOW which gun you need when you start, since you'll likely only get ammo for one, maybe two, guns per level. It's fairly annoying, since there's no 'recommended for the level' gun feature. It's all up to your memory.

That was a nice moment, though, when I was trying to figure out the last gun I needed to find... I was like 'Alright, so it's a magnum... what is it.... HANDCANNON.' I was excited when I figured it out, though I imagine it's slightly more entertaining when you unlock infinite ammo. 3 bullets doesn't help that much when you never get any more ammo.

Funny thing is, you go in with one other gun besides your pistol and finish the level with 2 other guns. Found this other glitch , maybe it wasn't a glitch but in one of the levels I took the MRL in, which was upgraded to 8 rounds, but the game only let me go into the level with 4 rounds...anyways later on in that level I found another MRL so it gave me two MRL's with 4 rounds each :| I think this was the wesker level part 1 because I used them on the Ivan's.

Huh... interesting. I'd imagine, then, that just means the launchers have a maximum ammo limit. At least they compensated for it, instead of just having the extra ammo disappear. Sadly, I would've expected the latter from this game.

I never would've noticed, though, since I never take the explosive weapons in. Then, I don't even take the magnums. In fact, anything past the automatic row I find to be fairly useless. The grenades seem to do just as much damage as the rocket launchers, so I figure what's the point.

zapperproblems.jpg

ok, excuse the cheesy drawings, but I wanted to illustrate my zapper problem.

on the top two panels aiming is fine

on the bottom two panels, setting the game to ZAPPER Mode lowing the zapper forces the target cross hairs to point up'ish. I cannot keep the zapper level as it doesn't give me responsive controls. Only if I bring it down to the hip area I get some controls but accuracy is nonexistent. Is it my zapper that hampering my wii-motes or just the game is not properly program to use the zapper. I am having fewer problems in Link's Cross bow training.

Should I exchange it?

LinksCT has a height and sensitivity adjustment to attempt to mimic real pointing. From what I read, RE:UC has no such options. So, depending on the size of your tv, and the distance you stand from the sensor bar, the cursor will above or below where the wiimote is actually pointing.

Yes I noticed that in LCBT... But seriously is anyone else having problems with there zapper like I am?

Maybe it's defective?

This game is starting to suck my balls in a bad way. I'm pretty familiar with the quick press action button to dodge in all Resident Evil games, but in this game, pressing the displayed action buttons DOESN'T WORK. It's making me want to dodge this POS out the front window !

sometimes you have to press it multiple times or once. I just press it multiple times to make sure the game got the action. It's funny how after the game alerts you with the sound and flash and the music the commend is displayed on screen.

Don't let some of the minor faults of this game bother or frustrate you. If this game does sell well, be sure Capcom will release another title on the Wii hopefully next year.

I wish it didn't bother me when a game controls like it's broken, but I'm leaning towards broken. Seriously, the action buttons only work for me less than half the time - and there isn't anything wrong with my Wiimote.

Looking around is basically meaningless as well. They could have left it out and no one would have even noticed. I'm glad I rented this before a $50 purchase.

In terms of the action buttons being broken... they're not.

Like IT said, there are DIFFERENT ones. Some you only press once, others (denoted by an arrow on the icon) you have to keep pressing until it registers.

So, I have to say, having played through a bunch of times now, I strongly disagree that the controls are 'broken'.

I can understand if he found it frustrating that he couldn't find all the files because you have to waste your ammo blowing up shit that normally wouldn't hid a file.

I personally like this game.. Althought I a missing one gun (something in the magnum section), I plan to go back to all the levels I got a B or less and raise them to A's.
I'm leaning towards you don't know how to play the game.
Like I said, I've played enough Resident Evil games to know how crappy they were until RE4. I'm very familiar with the press x to jump/dodge/duck controls. I know the freaking difference btween press A, press A+B, shake, and press A or B multiple times - the icons appear on the screen for pete's sake.

This game only seems to register the button combo/button mash, or shaking less than half the time. I feel like I'm playing 1 player Mario Party and the computer is purposefully fucking me.

Well that's the problem then... your use to moving around yourself but this time the game is in control of where you go (for the most part).

To be honest, all the troubles you guys have "complained" about pretty much makes the game hard, which is what I like. Killing Zombies ain't supposed to be a walk in the park.
This game is just gang-raped by Ghost Squad in all but boss battles.
go back to the ghost squad thread... this is all about killing zombies :p

The game does seem to have a problem with the action sequences, but not on all of them. There are two in particular that took me like 15 tries each to pass since the timing is messed up. If you press the button as soon as it appears nothing will happen. You have to wait a split second.

As for looking around I think it is important because I've picked up a ton of items that I would have missed otherwise. You don't use it much, but it can save your life by giving you a second chance at an important item.

This game is just gang-raped by Ghost Squad in all but boss battles.

Apples and oranges really. Ghost Squad is your typical fast past shooter and UC is a survival horror experience. Both great in their own way.

Maybe that's why I'm having a problem. Usually in RE games, if you don't press the combo right away, you're dead. Thanks for the tip.

ok, so I used the Wii Zapper again today. I refuse to detach the nunchuck from the zapper!!!

Anyways..

I decided to step back to about 7 feet away from the tv, instead of the usual 3 feet. That helped it a lot! Reloading and shaking off zombies is still a bitch with the zapper, but oh well.

In regards to Nemesis' underground tentacles, it is possible to stop them before they pop out of the ground. Just shoot the broken pavement, and after enough bullets, they stop coming. It isn't easy, but it isn't impossible either. You just need to stay on your toes.

do you think grenades will work ?
do you think grenades will work ?
Possibly, but I doubt it. Since they move, and move fast, you'd have to aim the grenade so it would explode right when they passed under it.

Hah... flamethrower would've been nice. Though, admittedly, when I sit here and think about, I can't think of any possible way to implement it into this game effectively.

I remember that I actually thought I had picked one up... it was a cool moment... turned out to be... well, I forget. Probably the grenade launcher or the HK. Still, I was momentarily disappointed.

I think other shooters had a flame thrower but oh well it's too late now, maybe TUC2... er I meant the The Wesker Chronicles .

btw anyone know how much money this game has made? is it considered a hit to warrant a sequel on the Wii?

I'm curious about the sales, as well. I was always baffled by the fact that they released it right against, arguably, the biggest Wii game ever.

Though, I can say that the fact that there's only been about 4-5 CAGs actively talking about it since it came out doesn't bode too well.

My problem is this, though... do I want it to sell well so we get a sequel, and Capcom gets the message that Wii games sell? Certainly. HOWEVER... I still don't think this game is worth $50. That's my issue. It's like... I want people to buy it, but not for full price. Making my entire view somewhat conflicting. ;)

Will give my "First Look" once I get the game. Should come soon.. hopefully. I'm really hoping this game is hard. I might just get the Zapper so I can make the game uber hard since the controls suck with the zapper.

yes that's true, I don't think this game is worth the full 50, maybe 40.

Anyways.. I was just thinking... the game engine ... is it based on the RE4 engine or from the ground up. My guess is that Capcom kept good back ups of the original 3d levels... used Maya or Max to reduce the polygon count.

The zombies seem to have the skeletal animations from RE4... you will notice this when they walk, about to strike you or when you pumping them full of machine gun rounds.

Is there any way to remove the crosshair? The game is cool but I really don't like having a crosshiar, can i remove this or will Nintendo patch this?

So something else kinda funny..
I was playing one of the solo missions today. I died, and I was at the continue point. At the "YOU ARE DEAD" screen (to continue) I left it on the screen. I decided I'd go start dinner now that I had a quick break..and I would come back and finish.

That turned into just cooking and eating dinner. Afterwards, I picked it up, continued, and beat the level to only find out that it took me "1 hour 12 minutes" to beat the level. So yes. When you die and you are the continue screen..the timer is still counting  That's REALLY bad!! They shouldn't count the continue screen! I don't mind the time picking up when you RESTART..but on the continue screen?! That's insane.
