Picked it up today and am on the mansion levels. Having alot of fun except for the 'bosses' who kick my ass repeatedly!
Its like the game makes you have to save your good weapons for the boss...however there are too many stronger enemies like the Hunters that you have to use something a bit stronger. Although you can take almost anything out with the standard gun, it's going to take a while longer to beat the boss and by that point you might have already taken too much damage and die.
Game is decent. Unfortunately In my house I have to sit more then 10 feet away from the TV otherwise the reticle locks here and there which is annoying.
I wasn't expecting a AAA title considering this a light gun game. More like I just wanted to support Capcom by buying this at launch (although more like through Familyvideo for $10 cheaper) in hopes we get more RE love. I have a feeling sales are gonna be meh though.
Played most of it through Saturday with my boyfriend. We only have 3 or so levels left, and they're all one-player only. It's really ing stupid that like half the levels are only for one player. Otherwise, we liked the game a lot.

Yeah, those one player levels killed the fun. To continue either I or my friend had to wait for the other person to beat the single player ones.
Well, Dead of Knight, whoknows, if you care, you unlock the ability to play all the SP-only missions in co-op if you clear every SP mission. That means going in for the final showdown as Wesker and doing the Fourth Survivor mission as well.

Sounds like a bad sitcom from the 80's. Anyway, I pleasantly surprised by how much fun this game. Haven't had time to play it in the past few days, but I'm looking forward to sitting down with it tonight and making some headway.

Cool. Too bad I have to clear them all to do that. Dumb decision on Capcom's part.
Just got this today from the TRU b2g1 promo. Is this game worth $50 though? I like the Time Crisis series and enjoy RE. Do you guys think I will enjoy this game for $50 though?
ok...... just installed the zapper and fired up this game....... YIKES
I literally have to aim the zapper 10-15 degrees higher then when I am using the wii mote and nunchuck. Shaking off a zombie is even harder then before. Also picking up items require you to use your left hand to touch the A button.
Button Combos for cutscene actions are going to be a mess.
I am going to give it a chance before I decide to give up on in.

shaking zombies off not a problem for me with the zapper. and i pick up items with the Z button...
...but the button combo scenes are screwed up indeed because when they want you to use the A button...you HAVE to use the A button. not the Z button like you think they would let you due to item grabbing. so yeah....bah.
all in all....much more fun (and easier to shoot), ignoring that one problem though.
I'm afraid that doesn't make any sense, unless I'm missing some component of the zapper... it's not holding it any differently than if your hand was where the plastic was.
I haven't finished through RE3 yet, but I have to ask.. seriously, why are there so many obvious holes in the story? If the whole point of UC was retelling pieces of the official plot, you'd think they would at least get that part down.
For example, in the RE1 scenario, the game pretends as if Barry never existed. What happened, did Capcom forget?

Well you got to think from the developers Point of View... what can they get rid of from each game to make it a rail shooter that the player won't think it's just another shooter.
-Puzzles, yep get rid of those since RE games are full of them
-Get item 1 , Get item 2 to create item 3 to open that door you saw in the beginning of the game.
-Give a good deal of ammo (not a lot, but just enough)
-Get rid of typewriters as save points and make the first aid spray as insta resurrection.
-Modify the plots of each game *slightly* without killing the game. If they were to involve Barry in the Jill/Chris co-op game, then everyone would want to play Barry because of his Handcannon gun. From what I can recall he bites it towards the end of the game.
Capcom didn't forget... they just had to make some changes in order to make it work. If you haven't spoiled yourself by now
if you look carefully, Capcom put some stuff from the shitty paul anderson movies into this, but THANKFULLY left out ALICE's Character.
They could have left in the RE2 scenario and have you face off with Mr. X(tyrant ) and Mutated Berkin as the end bosses. Claire and Leon team up would have been nice, but then I guess you would have to rescue Sherri down the road. But I guess one trip thru Raccoon City was enough hell.
Well they killed the RE3 story. Its been awhile since I've played RE3, but I'm damn sure they didn't get picked up on the roof of RPD. That was horribly lame.

Everyone knows Wii Zapper makes shooting so much more realistic. But, when it comes to gameplay and speed, Zapper is a piece of sh**. Even though I'd like the experience, I could probably kill faster using just Wiimote and Nunchuk. Think about it:
RELOAD = Swing Wiimote Up/Down Quick
RELOAD (Zapper) = Same thing, But, you also have more weight (Zapper&Nunchuk).
It's good that MoH:Heroes 2 has ZAPPER only games in Multiplayer, because tbh, if it was Zapper vs. Regular Wiimote/Chuck, Wiimote/Chuck would win hands down.
I don't get what the is causing me to have to force raise the zapper another few degrees just to get the aiming to work right. The IR sensor isn't being blocked so.......

Did you change the settings to "zapper". Picking up items is done with the A button and the cut scene combos usually use the B + C buttons.
GameFAQs has an infinite subweapon ammo save up, you'll just have to go replay Hunk's shitty level, get the Handcannon and the 20+(?) or so stars needed to boost it up to infinite...
OK I set it to Zapper mode... but it still feels uncalibrated and I have to make wider movements. Shaking off a zombie is freaking hard when the nunchuck is attached. How are you guys hold it? infront of you like a pistol or at the hip like a machine gun?

I am loving this game. I hold the zapper like a pistol with two hands and it is pretty tough shaking off the zombies. The bosses are even tougher with the zapper. But this could just be me.
After a disastrous session of Crossbow Training, I played this completely sans Zapper.
Overall impression is that I like it, but I'm glad I didn't spend $50 on it. The premise is entertaining, but the tough bosses suck some of the fun out of it.
Main gripe? No way to set it to 4:3 as opposed to 16:9. I haven't joined the HD widescreen revolution yet, and I like that, thus far, the Wii has accomodated that. It's not that it always being in widescreen is a *huge* problem, it just would've been nice to have a choice.
Right, after about 6.5 hours of playing, some impressions.
First, the 'Mansion Incident' is, by far, the best scenario yet, both main and it's ancillary missions. RE0 didn't do much for me... and... and...
What in the hell did they do to RE3? I've only played the first part so far, and I'm hoping it gets better. I mean, do the other two missions actually have locations that are familiar? I just felt like it was a big city overrun by zombies... but not the Raccoon City I remember from RE3. The worm, too... that sort of came out of nowhere. Strange movements aside (seriously, jumping on you?), all I could think was 'isn't this a bit early?'... which gave me even less hope for the final two stages of RE3. One more note about RE3, during the opening, when Jill and Carlos meet, the zombie is completely buried in Jill's crotch. First, that's a ridiculously stupid move to be pulling in general (yes, let's put ourselves CLOSER to it's mouth), but then to have her keep the zombie there... it just... I mean, wow. Surely whoever animated it had to have picked up on that.
Now, for those talking about the zapper and the movements... and I mention this only because some even missed the whole 'zapper settings' thing... you're aware that the game actually wants you to DISCONNECT the nunchuk from the zapper in that mode, right? As in, hold the Wiimote in the zapper, but the nunchuk free in the other hand, making it easy to pull off the nunchuk shaking motions. I find it a bit stupid, really, as they could've just used the Wiimote shaking instead, but that's how they did it. I play with it still connected and it works for me, but that's not really how they want you to do it. Really doesn't make sense, though, as then the only real benefit of using the zapper is the trigger, which isn't really a benefit at all.
Also, I bring it up since I'm still a bit pissy about it... the lack of RE2 and CV. I was under the impression when this was announced that it was taking us through the RE saga. So, leaving out those seems a bit... wrong. If anything, I'd take RE2 over RE3, as I always saw RE3 as more of a sidestory to the whole thing.
Anyway, point is... was any work done on them at all? Or was the decision made to just cut them from the beginning? I ask only because my assumption is that if this sells well, we'll get UC2, with RE2, CV, and RE4. That, of course, would make it the Claire/Leon game, since this is mainly the Chris/Jill game. I don't know, just tossing that out there.

I think the original design that the developers had for this game was to fill in the missing pieces and how Umbrella fell. It was a great idea but came apart a few times. Most of the game is just reliving the events of RE0-RE3. The final mission
was just a raid on an umbrella facility to destroy a powerful B.O.W. There was no we got the evidence to prove that umbrella was behind this. The main characters do anything but clean house. Wesker ended up getting taking out the Russian and acquiring Umbrella's entire data network for some still unknown purpose (really, come on capcom, how many RE games are you going to put out before you tell us Wesker's plans? Spencer is still on the run.
.. So it like contradicts in some ways the intro to Resident Evil 4.
There was plenty of room to add a Claire/Leon side story. The Ada and Hunk was a nice touch. Also
Wesker's side stories after he came back from the dead, he doesn't seem more powerful then any other playable characters. He doesn't auto heal or take less damage then everyone else yet still dies like everyone else.

Regarding Capcom's crappy storytelling and Wesker. Sorta a nonspoiler spoiler...
$500 says Capcom doesn't even have Wesker's plans written yet.

Yes I agree with you. After so many games... Capcom would have released more details about Wesker's plans. But yet at the end of this game
we are just given another shitty clue to what Wesker is up to
Thank you Capcom!
$1000 says that in the "final confrontation" with Wesker, all he will do is inject himself with all the acquired virus' and La plaguas (sp?) and turn himself into some mutated creature blob with 20 tenticles, shoots fire and spits at you, claiming he is the ultimate lifeform.... Then someone who you helped out who you thought died earlier in the game will toss a rocket launcher from above and you will use the 1 shot 1 kill rule and all will be over.
Does this get any more exciting? I did the first 2 missions from RE0 and it was really boring and slow making me question my purchase.
It does get better. It is a challenging game. However I don't like the idea of wasting ammo blowing up lights, lamps , paintings and other objects to find "Files" to increase my ratings. Also it would seem that if you don't get an over all B or better rating, the game wont let you unlock new bonus missions. I just finished part 1 of 2 of wesker's final sub missions, got a B rating, but ended up having a C rating for 2 out of 3 of the main game final missions. So now I have to go back and get a higher ranking. Meh.
Are there any calibration options for the Zapper, like in Link's Crossbow Training? I already assume there is no shoot-at-the-corners calibration like in Ghost Squad.
Are there any calibration options for the Zapper, like in Link's Crossbow Training? I already assume there is no shoot-at-the-corners calibration like in Ghost Squad.
no See I am not the only one having trouble with the Zapper and this game. There are too many weapons in this game that are single fire and it doesn't feel right using the zapper and this game.
Hate to say it but I am giving the zapper a B- or a C+ for this game.
btw anyone who has completed the entire game, what was your average rating on the final main story missions of the game? Despite getting A/B/B average I am having trouble unlocking the final second part of Wesker's mission. Do you have to have like a B or higher rating on ALL scenarios across the entire game?
We only did the first 2 chapters..and we can't get higher then a damn C ranking.
See now that I have access to most of the weapons, I am going back and using the more powerful weapons to finish off the main bosses...however I am starting to think that the game penalizes you for using more powerful guns on the bosses.
Getting all the files is crazy.. Some of them are useless. Like for example it tells that you got the Explosive charge, yet when you read the description it is extremely poor and ITS NOT A WEAPON you can use in the game. Maybe I need to acquire more files to get it to unlock more stuff. I still haven't unlocked Rebecca's Nightmare part 2, Ada's or HUNK's missions either yet I completed the main storyline and all of Wesker's missions except the last one which won't unlock
