you are going to like it... can be frustrating and unforgiving during the end of level scoring and it tries to tie up loose ends but does a so so job at it.

Cheers for that and it is something else to distract me from SMG
I can't wait to play this, but Amazon won't ship it out until the 26th :[
cancel it and just go to a store and buy it.

Just got to Fall of Umbrella 2. I am really liking this game. I just wish it covered RE2, its omission is a bit glaring. Looking forward to giving two-player a try in a few days.

well it *does* somewhat cover RE2... Once you completed most of the main story levels, Ada's and HUNK's submissions unlock. They take place during RE2. So if you think about it, you get the RE0 thru RE3 scenarios + the post RE3 story + what wesker was doing behind the scenes - Code Veronica. They could have added Leon's and Claire's scenarios in the sub missions, but I guess they didn't have time :(

And done. Very fun game. Just needs an RE2 scenario and a tighter cursor.

The Fall of Umbrella wasn't as exciting as I thought it would be, but I guess it was already on its last legs during that chapter. It would have been cute if you unlocked a bonus scenario where you take Umbrella down in court Phoenix Wright style using evidence you collect throughout the game. But the little shooting gallery is better than nothing. :D

The Ada and HUNK scenarios are as close as you are going to get to a RE2 scenario. Now if there was a *cameo* of Claire and or Leon in a cutscene (similar to what Rebecca saw out the Mansion window), that would have been neat..but oh well.

No, no court stuff. Just prey we get the book translated to english and released here in the US. That should fill in the missing stuff.

Well, outside of laziness, I also assumed that they left out RE2 for a possible sequel.

This was the Chris/Jill story, and the games that are left have the connections of Claire/Leon.

RE2
CV
RE4

So, my guess is that if this sold well enough, we'll get a sequel that looks like that sometime closer to the release of RE5.

I hope you're right. Love this game, but I need more. :)

was this really the Chris/Jill story? or was it Weskers? The FoU left Chris and Jill hanging.

I doubt we will get a RE4 scenario since we have already played through that story already. If they were to do a TUC2, they would have to involve RE2, CV, some of the characters in the outbreak series. It would have been nice to fight Berkin in his mutated form. I could see CV work as it would be Claire with Steve, then Claire and Chris.
Not when I got it for 35.00
Well then go to the store and buy it... when your amazon order ships and arrives take the sealed amazon one back to the store with your store receipt for a full refund.

Play it now, without waiting.

Got the game for XMas and thought it was great! I test played it through the scorpion on Coop and used the zapper. I dont see what everyone was crying about, its easy to play with the zapper.

Big ONLY complaint so far as that the weapons sound weeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaak! Im playing on 5.1 and I cant even tell what gun is firing! I wanted a Call of Duty type sound. So that really sucks.

you want 5.1 and realistic sounds? Try a 360. The zapper DOES take time to get use to for this game.

I just got this game and picked up the Nyko Perfect Shot for it. So far I am having fun but I have problems whenever I am supposed to dodge. It will tell me to hit the Z or B button and I do but it never registers and I never dodge. The only time I can successfully dodge is if I am supposed to shake the nunchuk to do it and that doesn't even work very often. Am I missing something or does anybody else have the same problem?

Silly question but have you set it to zapper mode?

Anyways

I hooked up my Wii to the rear projection 50 inch screen via s-video. Holy crap everything looks darker and muggier :( That wasn't a good idea.

Well I got the game last week and have only played 2 missions but its pretty cool. Don't really know why but I found it really hard maybe because I haven't played an on the rail shooter for ages.

Well, ultimately, of course, it was Wesker's story. However, RE0 dealt with the preamble to the mansion incident, and Rebecca, who figured prominently in at least Chris's story. The Mansion incident itself, of course, was all about Jill and Chris. RE3 was Jill's story, and notice that there was very little Wesker in that part, outside of the little part of Ada's mission. Finally, Fall of Umbrella took us to what Chris and Jill did after their canon games. So, yes, it's about Wesker in the end, but it's told through the narrative of Chris and Jill's journey.

Now, two other points about the game... it was, simply, a lazy game. Why was RE0 in it? The models and locations were already done, since they just reused the ones from the GC games. What really underlines it is RE3. The first two parts of the scenario HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH THE ACTUAL RE3 GAME. Literally, the streets were unknown, and where in the hell did the subway come from? They didn't want to take the time to create, or in this case recreate, the high-res models based on the old environments. They did the police station only because people would have screamed for blood if it wasn't there. Even then, they completely destroyed the narrative of the original game. Look at even Ada and Hunk's missions. We already had high-res models of both, and the locations were already being done for the main game, there was really no other reason for Hunk to have shown up, as nice as it was. With Fall of Umbrella, sure, it was new, but I can't be the only one that found the Russian base to be less than exciting, both visually and game play wise. It was standard shooter fare for a final level... bland hallways, and they throw every enemy you've already encountered at you, even at the peril of it not making any sense. Surely Umbrella wouldn't still be producing ALL of the models. I mean, this was their last ditch effort, right? One of the points from RE1 was that Neptune was fine, but there was no way to control it, or even use it effectively in battle. So, why were they still making them? I do apologize for the rant, but the more I think about it, the more I despise the Fall of Umbrella. Even TALOS, which was the goofiest looking, most cookie cutter, shooter boss EVER. That wasn't RE, that was House of the Dead.

Anyway, back to my original point... since this was Wesker's story through the viewpoint of the Chris/Jill saga, Umbrella Chronicles 2 could be the same way, but through Claire/Leon. Surely Wesker was doing stuff during RE2, and obviously he was IN Code Veronica and RE4. Then, to branch the story to RE5, I figured there'd be one new story, akin to Fall of Umbrella, about what exactly Claire has been doing (and maybe Barry, CAPCOM! :bomb:). So, really, it could work exactly the same, the only problem is that they'd have to recreate models for RE2 and CV. They already have high-res models of Leon from RE2 and RE4, and Chris from CV (unlockable costume in REmake). So, ultimately, it's Claire that they'd have to work on. RE4 is good to go, and they've already done the Police Station and other parts of RE2, so CV is the one that would involve effort, leading to what I could sadly see being another RE3 debacle. Anyway, really, UC2 would be just about the same amount of effort, and could essentially be told in the same format, so I certainly could see it happening. However, I also believe that what I just typed out was probably more thought than CAPCOM actually put behind the first one, let alone a sequel, so I still don't have high hopes.

Anyway... thoughts and comments are appreciated. Sorry for the long read.

Good post! However the Subway section was a nod to RE:Outbreak File 2(possibly 1 as well but I don't have file 1)

I never got around in completing RE0, 1, 3 or CV (I did get to the second disc on the dreamcast version but stopped after that.. Manly because I got lost trying to find a piece of a stupid puzzle like a gem to unlock a gate to get to another location.

I really wondered why they gave us the Giant Bat as an enemy sub boss instead of the BIG CENTIPEDE. When I saw that for the first time, I was like oh I'm playing Castlevania now huh?

Anyways I just got my copy of the soundtrack from play asia today :) Sounds great. Pick it up if you can...however I have no idea what the booklet says since it's in Japanese.

I haven't touched it in probably a month or so now, and that was only to go through it with a friend. My single player days were over long before then.

I mean, it's an entertaining game, but the only thing I have left to do is unlock the unlimited ammo, which I really am not feeling inclined to do.

Overall, though, I ended up putting a bit over 20 hours into the game, so I definitely feel I got my money's worth. It's a game that I'll probably go back to every year or so, just to replay it, so overall I'm pretty happy.

I haven't really played it since i finished it right before Christmas. Though I do want to go back to find more files and such, as well as start a new file with a friend. Though, with the large influx of new games it'll be a while before it finds its way back into the Wii, but I'm sure I'll go back to it eventually.

Good times though. Definitely a well made game that just needed a little more content.

Just got this game over the weekend, its pretty cool except for the weird accuracy of the reticule. Feels...odd and imprecise. Makes it a pain trying to break all the small lights

Well, that depends... is it like the Archives, or is it simply an art book?

On that note, I thought that, for the money, the Archives book was pretty nifty. I enjoyed the fact that they even went so far as to mention and give space to the abandoned RE2 (which I still want sooooo badly).

I could wait a while for a new one, though, since I thought it closed the book pretty well on the 'old-school' portion of the series (0-CV). I mean, let's be faiir, after the success of RE4, we're never going to get another 'tank controls' RE game, which may or may not be a good thing, depending on your view (me, I'd like another, but I'm not naive enough to think it'll happen).

The only problem I had with the Archives book, aside from the few errors, was the fact that it confirmed that the REmake basically usurped the place of the original Resident Evil. I find that to be a shame since, when asked, I still say that the original is my favorite. DON'T. OPEN. THAT. DOOR.

Continuing that thought, I've always been in contention with my gf over that very point... she says, and always has, that she's a huge RE fan, but it was only after about a year that I realized that when she said she played them on GC, she meant ALL of them. I'm sorry, but the REmake is no substitute for the original, and I really object to calling yourself a huge RE fan without ever have played the original.

This post doesn't have much of a point, but hey, nothing else real exciting is going on in here. ;)

I really don't understand what that page says so I can't tell you at this time. I just got my information from REHORROR.NET which was pretty good up until after the release of RE:TUC. Then it seems that RE news has been slow for months :(

I just read that on kotaku.com This is great news!!! Hopefully we will see RE5 this year and the possibility of RE:TUC File#2 (?) covering Claire's/Leon's adventures plus CV!!
I'm torn about this game. I like it then I don't like it if that makes sence. So is all the game is 0 then resident evil then resident evil 3?
In a sense, yes... Zero (with sub story missions), 1 (with sub story missions), 3 (with sub story missions) and the fall of Umbrella (which you can call RE 3.5).
