Resistance Is going to be awsome. (Cheapy says No?)
just wait for it to come out =/
no way. I've been gaming for too long...I have a 6th sense for these things!

Easy one here even without anyones impressions:

*Free online service + 40 players online = LAG that the world has never seen the likes of.

Whenever there are events like TGS or E3 they are always LAN hookups with no lag for MP portions of games, I HIGHLY doubt a 40 player online game would run smooth and that fact thats its a FREE online service is even scarier. Maybe the single player is ok perhaps but i dont know

Anyone else get that cool ad from Playstation Underground for Resistance?

I just got it today, its like a folder and then inside is a page out of a newspaper that talks about the attacks and stuff. It's pretty cool.

I got mine last week, I wish they would have thrown the demo in too.

 Where do the rest of the dozens of players come from if there's only 4 machines or so to LAN together? They have the online multiplayer systems connected to their development studio back in CA where developers are playing the attendees, who usually win for obvious reasons, too.

What demo? How would you play it without a PS3?

Eh, I will give the developers a little credit. The R&C series is fantastic (I never played Deadlocked, however). They hardly turn out crap, so at worst I expect it to be a thoroughly average game. I hope it turns out better.

Yea I also got mine last week. I pulled it out of the mailbox and I thought "Cool what could be inside?" I was disappointed with a silly ad and a couple of postcards.

The only Insomanic game I've played is the first Ratchet and Clank. It was pretty good, but I never felt the need to pick up the sequels. Resistance could be good, but at this point it looks kind of generic. I hope for the best, so when I do pick up a PS3 I have a good FPS.
It seems kind of silly to compare Gears and Resistance since it looks like they are two very different games, but I have more faith in Epic to put out a good product, since I bought Unreal Tournament 2004 when it first came out and I still play it a few times a month.

Heck, look at Rare. Its a company that made awesome FPS and platform games. Yet, Kameo and Perfect Dark Zero were overall dissappointing.
I'm not a huge fan of Perfect Dark Zero, but Kameo was amazing. Easily one of the best 360 games I've played. I'm very much looking forward to a sequel.

Yep, they already have the online play working and the developers and "friends" have been playing it for a while.

My pointless 2¢:

I hate Ratchet & Clank with a passion. Hate the gameplay, hate the graphics, hate the characters, hate that it's frequently referred to as a platformer, when it's a shooter. I was happy to hear Insomniac was finally doing something new, since I did like Spyro pretty well, and Disrupter was GREAT for the time. (It hasn't aged well, but then neither have games like Duke Nukem or Doom.)

Technically Resistance looks good. I mean it's a clear cut above 360 games (aside from Gears of War). But it does look generic to me. Not bad-I think it looks like a solid rental at worst.

But Gears of War also has the technical aspect down-and has an art style I *love*. No idea which will play better though, if either will be decent. I like that Gears seems to be things coming up from inside the Earth rather than aliens coming down. A bit of a twist. And geez, that trailer was actually cool-had some actual impact versus just being "here's shooter 4213".

OR

NAMPAEHC says:

Again when you get your PS3 home and try to play a 40 man game on a FREE ONLINE service....good luck with the UNGODLY LAG since the general public will flood those severs too not just some dev house and friends.
Doesn't Socom 3 have 32 player online games? Is there lag on those games?
There is. I would hope insomniac would put up a few high player count servers for the 40 player mode to run smooth, Bungie and Id did that for Wolfienstien for Xbox.
i've heard the AI is weaksauce.
Where did you hear that? I've read in two different previews that the AI is one of the coolest highlights of the game. Why the fuck is it so cool to bash everything PS3 says and does?

Depends on where you go, this forum has a more anti-ps3 sentiment than I usually see elsewhere.
