Well, heres what i came up with. The ip addressess are different from the guy right now from when he was making this deal. Although this may not be very clear evidence, as he has posted from around 10 different ones. Even I, who has only posted on 1 or 2 computers, have around 20 different ip addressess I have posted from.

So to cap it all up: IP addressess are different but I dont really know how much evidence this really is.
Are they from the same ISP? I know that would require some extra work......
Ill look and see what i can do, actually it would only take one more click on my part.

Sorry for sounding like an idiot, but what does MightySlacker do? Can he find out everything about you or something? :p

I have a question. Manofpeace did you request a reversal of the package yet? If not call UPS as quick as possible and attempt to get it back.

Alright heres what I got (again)

The posts from where he was trading came from came from icsurf.com(???never heard of it), the the latest ones seem to have come from aol. Don't take this "too" seriously yet, as I will do more research later to see what else I can come up with.

EDIT: It also seems like about 16 other CAG's have posted on the same IP address that he is posting on now.
I have a question. Manofpeace did you request a reversal of the package yet? If not call UPS as quick as possible and attempt to get it back.
The problem is that I can't find the receipt. I shipped through Mail Boxes Etc, and I informed them through the internet, but I haven't heard anything. If I could find the receipt I can also find out where my package is.

Go to your Mail Boxes Etc. They keep a record of all transactions. I have done this at MBE w/out a receipt. They are open Sundays, too! Good luck.

Call UPS and explain the situation, they can locatoe the package, as logn as you have to recipients address, and your address.

hmmmmm. icsurf.com is registered in VA!!!
EDIT: It also seems like about 16 other CAG's have posted on the same IP address that he is posting on now.
If it's AOL, that means squat. Dialup users have an IP assigned every time they log on; I'm assuming that the available AOL IPs circulate through various users.

Ack, seems like I seem to get to these threads when they're 8 pages in. This is all of the IP info from one of his posts on this topic:

****

It seems like the 65.X.X.X ones are involved with. Ill take time and read every post in this topic to get a good idea of whats going on in a bit. I've been busy all weekend and still am. PM me if you need me, whenever I see a new email from it I go right to the boards.

Yes it was the AOL one, but again, I really am not sure how much any of this tells us. I am just a mod with a couple little features I can use and I am just relaying some of this information back to you. Maybe someone else can figure out what this means.

I know how to resolve this quickly. I sent Jame's "hacker" the tracking number through a PM. If James can find this tracking number in his PM's, then I would be a step closer to canceling delivery and losing 7 dollars instead of a game and card.

My Mail Boxes ETC turned into the UPS Store, and they are closed Sunday.

Why won't James just PM someone his phone number, that way we can confirm his story that he lives in Colorado.

I've read through the whole thread and the only person's story that doesn't hold up is James'. Also, the only person not cooperating is James.

You pretty much covered it. However, a phone call with him would be pointless. I will only have a phone conversation with him when he wants to resolve the issue, which he apparently has no intention of doing.

Is teh tracking number in your sent pm folder? Also, I live in WI, but have a CT cell phone number. Point being you can live anywhere and have a phone number from any where.
Is teh tracking number in your sent pm folder? Also, I live in WI, but have a CT cell phone number. Point being you can live anywhere and have a phone number from any where.
No, my sent box got flooded over when this whole ordeal took place.

Same here I live in MA and have a NY cell #.

Call UPS, they can locate the package with your info and the recipients.

I can't find the receipt and the store I shipped from (the ups store) is closed on Sundays. I e-mailed the UPS Store site giving them my info, but I haven't heard anything. I am trying to get James to get the tracking number out of the "hackers" PM's.

You need to call UPS ASAP. Dont waste time emailing them. 1-800-pick-ups. Explain the situation to the. They CAN locate the package based on the recipients address and the senders address(your address). You dont need the receipt for this. Make sure you mention fraund. I have done this before. I shipped out a package UPS then left on a trip. I didnt have the receipt called UPS game them the address and they gave me a tracking number.

Even so, you'd be able to tell if he's on a cell phone...At least if he PM'ed someone his number they could do a reverse search and check it's location...I believe Cell numbers won't give you a location, but at least it would help clear up some of the mystery.
shaq-fu!!!! The UPS Customer service line is closed too
lol call them when they open tomorrow morning.
sorry, but it's your own fault
you should use eBay or something more secure than trust
I usually do. Check my feedback on ebay and you will see I am there quite a bit.

It was a little more than trust though. He even gave me a perfect reference at tradegamenow.com How was I supposed to know a "hacker" would get into all his accounts, and then make legit trades on some of them?
shaq-fu!!!! The UPS Customer service line is closed too
Well the package can't be delivied today. So call them at 7 tommorrow. I am sure if you get them good in the morning they will be able to stop the package.
Call UPS and explain the situation, they can locatoe the package, as logn as you have to recipients address, and your address.
Actually, I'm afraid that's not true. A while back when guessed picked up that Steel Battalion deal for me, he dropped off the package at his UPS in the evening before the final pickup. He sent me the tracking number, and the next morning I type it in...no dice. I try later in the day with no luck, and contact guessed to see if he has any ideas. I end up calling UPS to see if they can verify shipment (not that I didn't trust guessed, I just wanted to make sure they hadn't forgotten about the package or something). I spoke with 3 different representatives who all told me that the information in the computer wasn't stored by address, just by tracking number. Unless you have that tracking number, I'm not sure you'll have much luck.

they were blowing you off then, I have done it without a tracking number.

Wow, first the Cloudspekk thread and now this. I read through the first one and it was quite entertaining.

manofpeace, I'm sorry that you got ripped off. A guy on eBay once ripped me out of $200 on a purchase, so I know how bad it sucks. Here's hoping you get your stuff back, or justice. Whichever comes first.

I meant to ask this last night, but I fell asleep...

How did James "recover" his account? Wouldn't the "hacker" change the current password? That means James would have had to contact an administrator or something.

My theory is that this "hacker" is still using James' account. Also, didn't Cloudspekk have an AIM account or email with the word "blue" in it? Or was that DealMasterX? Too many scammers here. Can't keep up with all of them.

Any "hacker" would change the password almost immediately. My question is why would they hack an account with zero feedback, there is really no reason they wouldn't just make up a new nickname with a phony name/address if they wanted to start scamming. Really, what incentive would there be to hack someone's existing account unless the person they hacked already had a large amount of posts/feedback which is not the case here.

exactly. why wouldn't you pick someone with about 5 feedback so then you would have leverge to have people ship to you first

It was dealmaster with the blue in his AIM name.

And now ther story has come full circle. Were back to the same questions again. Thats why this is kinda shady. It was rough this morning at 3-5 am geez.

Wahahaha, James is bullshitting and it's quite funny just how bad he is at it. I can't believe I spent the last half hour laughing at how retarded James is. File mail fraud, man. It's easy as hell.

From the good people at TNL

:: How To File For Mail Fraud ::

Are you a victim of online fraud, or think you are a potential victim due to a single person or a company? Well, you have come to the right place to see what you can do to get your item/money back from the thieves.

:: Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) ::

1. I think I have been ripped off. What should I do?

Go to any of the mail fraud sites listed below to file a complaint. I suggest filing for as many as you can.

2. When should I file for mail fraud?

If you have sent out numerous e-mails regarding your payment being received and/or item being sent and never received the item/e-mail within a 15-20 days from the date you shipped the item/payment, send out ONE LAST e-mail informing them that you will take action if they do not respond to your e-mails. If after 2-3 days of no response, start to file for mail fraud. The faster you file the mail fraud, the faster you will get what is owed to you.

3. The other party responds to my e-mails, but keeps giving me excuses and/or the run around. What should I do?

It's more than likely they just trying to buy more time. If they reply to your e-mails but keeps telling you that it will be shipped soon, over and over, notify them that you will be filing for mail fraud. File for mail fraud as soon as possible. Especially with PayPal and their 30-day policy (see FAQ #6). If you keep on letting them buy more time, they'll just keep giving you that same answer over and over until either the PayPal 30-day complaint is over, or if you forget about it and give up trying to get the item.

4. What do I need when I file a complaint?

Most of the time it's a win-win situation if you have most, if not all of the following..

You will need the following contact information of the other party:

* Name
* Address
* Phone Number (if available)

You will need any of the following proof and/or evidence: (the more the better)

* Email and/or Instant Message conversations
* Proof of shipment of item
* Proof of payment (Credit Card Bill, Check Statements, PayPal, Receipts, etc.)

5. I paid for something online with a credit card, money order, check or cash and I never received the item. What should I do?

If you paid with credit card, notify the credit card company, and inform them of the situation. Tell them you want to dispute the charge, and they will investigate.

If you paid with a money order, you can go back to the place you bought the money order from or call the number that is on the receipt stub from the money order and have them do a 'stop payment'. What 'stop payment' does is, it prevents the person from cashing it in. But if the money order has been cashed already, there is nothing that can be done, unless you file for mail fraud. Also, the receipt stub that was on the money order can also be used as proof of payment, as well as proof of them cashing it when they track the money order.

If you paid with a check, its similiar to a money order. You can do a 'stop payment'. If the check has been cashed, there is nothing that can be done, unless you file for mail fraud. If the check has been cashed, you can ask your bank to for a bank statement concerning the check. This will be used as proof that the person cashed your check.

If you paid in cash, this will be harder as there is no proof/receipt that you sent it. So, send at your own risk.

6. I ordered something online using PayPal. What should I do?

PayPal's policy is that, you have 30-days to file a complaint. If after 30-days, you are out of luck. If you have not received a response and/or item within 20-days, file a complaint with PayPal. If by any chance, you do receive the item, you can cancel the complaint with PayPal. If the other party is at fault, PayPal will recover whatever money is owed to you, IF the money is in the other party's account. If there is no money in the account, there is nothing that can be done unless you used your credit card on PayPal to pay for the item (see FAQ #5).

7. Does there have to be a certain value before I can file for mail fraud?

No. It's not the cost and/or value of the item, inorder for you to file for mail fraud. It's the principle. You can file for mail fraud whether your lost or the item costs, $5.00, $100.00, or even $1,000.00. Mail fraud is a crime and a federal offense. Legal action can be taken against the the other party if they are found guilty if they do not return what is owed to the respectful ower.

8. I have a question but its not mentioned above. Can you help me?

Sure. Just post your question and I will gladly try to help you answer any of your questions you might have.

Haven't heard anything from James yet, and I am currently working on trying to get the delivery reversed back to me. Problem is that I don't even know where the package is. It is possible that "James" already got the package, and then made up stuff about the hacker once he received it. It fills me with rage knowing this bastard could be playing my Splinter Cell game.

I would really like a sticky to be made about fraud precautions even further. Since I found out around midnight last night, my life has been hell. I wouldn't wish this on anyone.

I just scrolled back a little bit, and it appears James blew his cover again! He claims he lives in Denver and the "hacker" is from Virginia. Yet, he says this:

Forum: Cheap Ass Trading Posted: May 16, 2004, 4:57 am Subject: Cloudspekk 2: I am having a problem trading with the user name "James"

Yeah or try my address where man of peace ship his game to:

*ADDRESS DELETED*
Fredericksburg, VA 22407

Notice how he says "try my address"? This is where I was told to ship the stuff!!!

How long before he begins threatening to sue us all for harassment and violation of privacy?

He blew his own privacy. I told James and 2 other users I didn't want his address posted. He posted it on his own!

This thread has gone down in excitement from last night. God that was fun being detectives and trying to find out who had done this horrible crime. By the way, congragulations manofpeace20. You are now a CHEAP ASS REGULAR. :D

i sent you a pm about sC:pt a week ago. you shoulda traded with me. im the trade master. this is your punishment.
just kidding of course. believe me ive felt your pain on a much larger scale. i hope you get your shit back.
and then you should trade with me...

James has been doing nothing to help all this time. He keeps defending himself when he is clearly guilty of something.
